In my mind, this is the original Black Rock because it was the first location I visited that started my addiction. This location has one side for cars and the other for people to walk up to the window. The line for cars is usually at least 2 – 3 cars long — sometimes longer if you come during a popular time. Sometimes it is faster to park and walk up. The people are friendly and the drinks are consistently made well. Getting out of the parking lot can sometimes feel impossible depending on what direction you want to go because of the no left turn from EB Baseline onto NB185th but you make it out eventually if you’re patient enough(or make a loop around the apartment complex). 4.5 stars.

I go to the Hazel Del location in Washington, everyone is so sweet and have a smile for you when you drive up to the window. The coffee is delicious, my favorite is Hot Mocha in winter and Iced Mocha in summer. Yummy…

Awesome place and great coffee! Always friendly and fast with service. Only complaint is they sometimes are out of cup holders and stoppers. I’ll suck it up though if it means I don’t have to go back to a Starbucks.

They have great coffee and great service. I will never go back to Starbucks again. They have a punch card and the Caramel Blondie is the best. Today they were completely busy and they still gave me a free coffee just because I had a good attitude. I think I was so shocked I forgot to thank them. I will thank them with this review. Getting a Black Rock coffee is one of my daily treats.

Spectacular customer service. I don’t just throw that word around in every day life. Line was quick, service was quick. The staff was very upbeat, which may seem a bit intense if you haven’t had your coffee yet. Fortunately they have a solution to that problem. The coffee is bold and complex and unfolds in layers. Not just a run of the mill brew. I don’t tend to pay attention to prices so I don’t know how much it was, and even more odd, they don’t ask you to sign and since there’s no receipt they don’t provide you with an avenue to tip if you’re paying with card… Felt bad I didn’t have cash. I always tip the barrista. Here’s a tip; Give me a receipt I can tip on!

This place flat out rules. Great customer service. Great consistent coffees. I’ve tried them all at least once– I even tried the new Bacon Maple White Mocha, enjoyed it. Prefer the Irish Coffee’s though. The review below from Amanda F clearly shows a review from a person who doesn’t understand high turnover places. Making shots of expresso ahead of time isn’t a science, its looking out the window and seeing lots of cars. So don’t mind that review– good coffee, fair price if your stay in the Sm-Med range– I use my 10-punch card for the larges. My daughter actually gets dressed to go here for her Strawberry Smoothie with whip cream. Cheers to the barista’s at BRCB, my dog Baker loves the cookies and attention too. Huge fan. Follow them on Twitter and Instagram as well.

Just because it looks good on the outside and seems like by appearance they must know what there doing. but in my opinion they haven’t got a clue. And its not necessarily the employees faults. But I couldn’t call them a barista by any means. The two drinks I ordered were a house coffee and the Iced blonde. Both lacked any flavor I was looking for. House Coffee reminded me of Folgers and the Iced whatever you’d call it tasted like fake sweetened caramel milk. Where’s is the shots of Espresso. I had my drinks so fast I know damn well they didn’t take the time to pour 4 real shots of espresso. There’s NOWAYYYYY! People don’t get it that your paying 5 $ for sugar and Milk.

Consistent coffee drinks and friendly baristas. My favorite is the Milky Way but with almond milk.

I honestly cannot fathom why people love Black Rock’s «coffee» so much. I have also visited the Tigard location, on the 99, and both times I have ordered a lightly iced latte. In my humble opinion if you cannot make something simple like a latte right you probably need to find a new job. I know this is «drive-thru» coffee and I also know there are die hard fans out there. I would like you all to know that I would not consider myself to be a coffee snob. This is simply my opinion. In both instances, my latte was extremely watered down! I’m unclear of how many shots of espresso they use in their lattes, but you can’t taste them what so ever. On the upside you get a free beverage of your choice on your birthday. So if you’re ever dying to know what Black Rock Coffee tastes like I strongly suggest you tell them it’s your birthday and get it on the house. Otherwise, please don’t waste your time.

My sweetheart of a co-worker went out and about to run errands today while I stayed behind in the office. It was very close to my 3 p.m. slump as well. She brought me an iced coffee as a surprise from Black Rock. This was a particular delight because of the surprise, the slump, and because I’ve always meant to get to Black Rock, but just never got there for no particular reason. It was smooth and just right(per my Goldilocks and Three Bears theory of food and drink) and snapped me right out of the slump and helped me motor through the rest of work until 6 p.m. Dear Co-Worker, Brooke, and dear Black Rock, you done good! Now I seriously have to come and visit Black Rock and get a coffee surprise for Brooke!

Updating my review 2 years later. I stopped by because I was having a caffeine withdrawal headache and needed caffeine STAT. We were 3 cars back and I swear we waited 20 minutes to get to the window. We found there were THREE people working in that place, how in the hell could it possibly take sooo long. It took forever and when I got my Latte, same as last time, it was so bitter and acidic, I immediately got an upset stomach and had to take a Zantac. Maybe I am a wuss, but I would not go there again if you paid me!

I guess this place is not for me. I was around buying sushi and thought I’d check this place out because of the good reviews. I was craving for some caramel-macchiato-like drink so I tried the caramel blondie. OMG wrong decision! It was the worst coffee I’ve ever tried! It was waayyyyyy too sweet and the quality was very bad! I saw them mixing white chocolate into this drink, it was way too creamy as well. I took a sip and it is going down the drain… Price was high: $ 3.75 for a medium drink. The service was good that’s the only good thing. I guess if you like extra creamy and extra super sweet coffee this might be the place for you. Otherwise stay away!

I love Black Rock! This location is the best location too. I like iced beverages. Not a fan of the warm stuff, weird, I know. So usually when I stop by, I get: Iced Black Out(Its like a chocolate malt) Iced Caramel Blondie(I dont know, but it’s really creamy and caramel-ly) OR Iced Soy Chai The punch cards are my favorite. They always make me want to go back, just to get that additional stamp towards my «free» drink. And the employees at this location are the best, super friendly and chatty. When I lived in LA, I once drove to Oceanside to have Black Rock… and thats not a joke.

I LOVE this place!!! Their coffee is so good, smooth, and easy to drink. It’s well balanced and perfectly smooth. I’ve gotten their Black with sugar, or the Mocha Hazelnut Coffee, or Pumpkin Spiced Latte. I always buy a pound of beans to take back home, since I’m from California and can brew it at home. My clothes and suitcase end up smelling like coffee… but I have no regrets! I love it!!! I know there is one in San Diego, but I bet this place would do really well in the Bay Area!

I don’t know when coffee shops decided it was OK to substitute drip coffee for an Americano(espresso with water added). Americanos don’t taste like drip coffee plain and simple. Maybe this happened around the same time people decided it was OK to bring their dogs in stores. Black Rock seems to think it’s ok to subsistence your order with anything they feel like. I ordered drip coffee and when I took a sip of my coffee, I immediately knew what they did. Thanks for ruining my afternoon coffee.

I think Black Rock has tremendous coffee. It’s fast, and the people are friendly/cool. I do find myself feeling jittery afterwards… I think maybe they put more espresso shots in the 16 ounce than most places. I like their punch card. My daughter likes the kid’s drinks, specifically the«mint chip chiller» which comes in a pointy plastic cup with a straw, and they usually bleb the straw with whipped cream. Totally won her vote that way, I think. I wish they’d give me a real sleeve instead of an extra cup, though. Do those sleeves really cost that much?

If you’re listening, FiveBucks, and I very much doubt you are, these people can teach you how to make strong, nicely-bodied coffee without burning it. The line moves quickly here; you can drive through or walk up. No standing in line to shout my order at someone. Friendly, fast service, and a punch card. Also, support a locally owned, non-chain coffee spot. I have zero suggestions for improvement, and that’s how you get 5 stars.

I Love Black Rock!!! Im sorry, i cant help it. I do. So the coffee — is great, although i really don’t vary much(uh like, ever) from my nf vanilla iced latte so i cant really discuss the menu offerings. But, the people and the service! FAB-O. Down to earth, friendly and always cool. Daniel and Jeremy are great guys and apparently know how to hire because everyone that works there is always always awesome. Plus, they remember me! They ALWAYS remember me AND my order. I thought for sure they just zero in on the cars being that it’s a drive through — but i show up in a new car and they still have my order ready with a smile! These people are fast too! When I come around the corner and sometimes see a giant line my heart sinks, i hate waiting — but within a few minutes i’m rolling up to the window and my drink is in hand. Always surprised how fast they are. I can’t say enough good things about them and have never in the last year or so EVER gotten a bad drink. Which is a lot more than I could ever say for Starbucks. Plus, every 10 drinks you get one free! Can’t argue with that.
