AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care

I decided to drive up to the Portland area from California to visit my family and friends and on the drive up my 06 Ford Explorer made a weird clunking noise and my car wouldn’t go past 65mph. I figured that my transmission or engine was having problems so I was referred to AAMCO in Aloha by a close family friend who takes all their vehicles there for any service. So I thought I’d give them a shot thinking how great can they be? Anyways I called to make an appointment and Paul the owner or Manager there greeted me warmly over the phone. He explained that they would perform a free Multi Inspection on my car and it would determine what it would take to fix my car.
I went in the next morning and was greeted by Paul who was extremely friendly and very descriptive of what they would need to do in their inspection. Paul even offered to drive me back to my cousins house just so that I wouldn’t have to walk back. So I get a call a few hours later and he explained what they found with my car and that I would need a new transmission. FML. The thing that surprised me next was that he gave me so many options to decide from whether it was a new, rebuilt, or used transmission to fit my budget. Fortunately for me this AAMCO in particular has a financing option that allowed me to pay it off interest free for a whole year. So I decided to get a new transmission and he had my car ready within 3 days. I can’t thank Paul and his crew over at AAMCO for their amazing work and the great «feel at home» customer service” I just wish this AAMCO was local to me.

This has been my number one stop for auto repairs, Paul at the front desk has always been very helpful making sure I can be safe on the road. I highly recommend this location they are fast and do all repairs right the first time. This is all coming from someone who’s had there transmission, cv joint, all 4 brakes, alternator, a wheel hub and bearing done here. All those repairs and not a single problem from them. If you’re looking for fair service come here!

Absolute worst place to take your vehicle to. If you are not savvy they will rip you off with a smile on their face. They did initial inspection and discovered 2 main issues. Paul then advised that he would like to do another diagnostic for $ 330 to verify these issues but that would be waived if I did the repairs. Several hours later he contacts me to tell me that the diagnostic confirmed previous codes and the repairs would cost me about $ 800. I asked how much the parts cost versus how much for labor. He quoted me $ 400 for the first part and $ 300 for the second one. My labor would be about $ 140 he says. So I went to check the parts myself and turns out the first one is $ 189 and the second one is $ 150 at O’Reiley. Of course I call Paul back and ask him what the deal is. I understand having to mark up parts a little, but not THIS MUCH! Paul then tells me he has to make money somehow. Really??? He then tries to argue that when I go to a restaurant to have a steak dinner, I don’t pay for what it actually cost, I pay for service. This is the most ridiculous argument I have ever heard. So obviously I took my car back and am disputing the $ 330 diagnostic job that revealed nothing but the initial results that should have been covered by their $ 100 inspection.
Oh and FYI… I took my car next door and they did not even find same issues to be wrong with the car.

This particular location should be ashamed of the way their employees choose to treat potential customers as I received worst customer service from Joe at the front desk! He wanted to charge me $ 950 just to «open up the tranny and tell me what’s wrong.» I advised I was unable to pay for the services and asked that he button up my vehicle as I found another location willing to help me for a lot cheaper and without financing; He laughed and called us liars followed by a barrage of cheap degradation and slander towards other companies.
I went to have my car towed from this location to the next and found that, not only was I now having electrical problems that I didn’t have before, but this shop was so careless, my car had also been backed into the wall! YES! Seriously. Joe even refused to give us their insurance information! Outstanding isn’t it?
Fast forward to the new shop who has completely gone above and beyond for me; After a lot of work and $ 1400 later, the tech I worked with had confirmed the starter, alternator, the gear linkage and fuses were all disconnected. There is absolutely no reason why any of this should’ve been in the condition is was other than the AAMCO employees intentionally disconnecting it all in an attempt to make it worse.
Needless to say, I will never again attempt to conduct any business with this company and will continue to advise everyone else to do the same.
Anyone who would like to have information to the shop I had my car towed to after this mess, I would be happy to provide it to you!

First, thank you for the kind reviews and thank you as well for the not as kind. It is always good for us to know how we are working well to service your needs as well as know what we need to do to improve them. We take every review and input seriously and strive to make any necessary changes to make YOUR experience better. For myself personally, nothing is higher on my priorities list than customer service and will do my utmost in providing you with the best of it. I hope to see all you soon!

This was my first visit there, and the service was personable and quick (indeed: the customer service guy was absolutely exceptional — seriously). Very happy with the result (also note: I am possibly a picky customer because I’ve been to other repair places in the area, and I tend to be unsatisfied with the results)

Great customer service. Although I don’t know if they convinced me into getting some elements fixed that were special order and not necessarily causing any issues. As they stated they were causing electrical malfunctions that were not causing my car to drive any different… will probably take more time to research next time.

I recommend that no one use this Aamco location to service their vehicle. My time spent here was without question the worst possible customer service experience I’ve ever had. The personnel were unaccommodating, unprofessional, and largely incompetent. Not only was I without my car for two whole days for what was quoted as a «two hour job,» I had to take the car back because the initial work was faulty. Needless to say I took my business to a trusted mechanic after that where they fixed the shoddy work done by the people at this Aamco. Beyond the poor mechanical work I was also berated by the front desk worker in person and over the phone. Please save yourself the time and money by going anywhere but here.

I think the store is great for transmission repair and that is all I know them to be good at… If you allow them to touch anything other than transmission. Then you may very have yourself to be blamed. I have had my several shares of them. Their cup became full for me when I stopped by to troubleshoot why my windshield wiper would not work. And I was quoted $ 250.00 just to find the fault… It cost me $ 20 and under 30 min to find the issue and replace the fuse just less than 2 miles down the road from them…

do not take your car here!!! they are bullies if you decide that you do not want to get your car fixed there! they are currently holding my car hostage and refuse to correct the situation! if i could give negative stars i would! do not go here! you will have better luck with a random person from craigslist fixing your transmission!

First visit here, using a living social deal and the staff was wonderful. Eric is very accommodating and professional. I will certainly come back here.
