24 Hour Fitness

If I could give negative stars I would. I signed up for a month to month membership (at least that is what the sales person stated.) Then when I no longer worked in the area I attempted to cancel my membership only to find out that I was indeed in a contract. After explaining to Corporate customer service that the salesperson assured me several times that it was not a contract I was told that there is nothing they would do to help me. When I asked to file a complaint against the salesperson I was informed that they were no longer with the company. This was less than 3 months after I signed up. 24 Hour Fitness is a shady company that condones deceitful tactics in order to lock you in a contract. On top of that it’s always overcrowded and they need more equipment.

The facility itself is fine. Nice selection of equipment and things seem to be in good repair. Two stars because of the lazy crowd. In all my years of lifting at various gyms, this location is the absolute worst for not re-​racking weights. It’s unbelievable. Not sure what the other gyms to to solve this problem, but this one could stand to take a lesson and help its members out.

I find this as the best location for cardio machines. There also have newer treadmills. Everything i go here, always plenty of treadmills to pick. Cardio area has horrible venting and air circulation, sweat city.
Basketball courts arent overly crowded here but the folks that do play…
Weights are upstairs. You have to take a steep set of stairs to get there. Good size and open but lots of tough guy lifters here. You know what i mean
Parking sucks here

This is my third year with 24 Hour Fitness and while their administrative staff is GOD AWFUL, the group x instructors are freaking amazing. Lizzie’s body pump and Alyssa’s turbo kick classes are the bomb. I definitely recommend prepaying online so you don’t have to deal with the use-​car salesman nonsense.

I just joined the membership last week, including the kids club. I went there three times so far, two of three times I can not go in because their kids club was full!!! I ended up with going back home without doing anything, since I was there to attend group fitness class. And they told me the wait was about 45min. The class was only 1 hour! Please let me know how I can continue going there like this? If your place can not hold that many members, please think of something else to help! BTW, they don’t allow me to make reservation on the kids club too! So I am stuck! I am thinking to cancel my membership! This is ridiculous!

Coming from (what now seems like a four star, state-​of-​the art gym) Portland State’s Rec Center to this 24 hour was kind of like a dose of reality. I graduated from PSU and don’t want to pay $ 30/​mo right now, so I bought the 2 year Costco 24 hour fitness membership. It looks like a huge gym from the outside, but it isn’t that big. It has 2 floors, cardio on the first and weights on the 2^nd floor. The machines aren’t super clean, but there are plenty of (what I hope is) disinfectant spray bottles and paper towel dispensers to clean stuff yourself) I am only there to do cardio, and not interested in much else… but holy crud, the upselling here was taken to another level. It was like walking into a car dealership! I felt pressured to sign up for personal training (I guess it’s my fault since I asked what their rates were). My main beef is they don’t have wifi! I mean, it’s like what, $ 60 a month??? I’ll throw in an extra 2 bucks a month if everyone else does so we can get some wifi!

After visting several different 24 fitness locations around Oregon and even Salt Lake, most are crowded –not by people, but with too many worn out unused machines. No room to turn or work without running into a machine.
In any case. I’m seeing that the Beaverton Round location is actually the lessor of many evils and recently added new Precor treadmills.
Kudos to our 24 hr getting rid of Chris and bringing in Trevor (I think that is his name). He has been a real positive step forward in this locations maintenance.

The employees are very friendly. They are excellent about greeting guests and answering questions.
The classes are fun. Instructors are motivating, and they make you feel like you want to be there.
But, this gym is in need of a little love. More than a few of the cardio machines are broken. Also, I don’t know how many times the water fountains upstairs needed to be repaired. Some of the equipment feels outdated. I don’t know a lot about what goes into running a gym, but I remember my experiences at other 24 hour fitnesses and they were much better. :/​
Parking is an issue. The stalls are small, and there isn’t a lot of street parking available. I instead prefer to walk there from home.

enough is enough we have been members here for over 2 ½ –10 years, trying to enjoy our experience, but today was it for us all. The broken equipment has GOT To go, some pieces we have been told are over 15 – 20 years old. We know other clubs get new equipment, as their membership is larger. WE get the privilege of having the maintenance staff continually patch them up. In real business, you have to spend a little to make a little, as in revenue. How many times do we, paying customers, have to tell the help what is broken today!!! IF you had better equipment, from bikes to treadmills to ellipticals to rowing machines, who knows how many new folks would actually WANT to join up, bringing 24 hour more money!!! management obviously is not a caring group, as we were told 3 months ago by the Regional maintenance man, that we were getting new equipment in 2 weeks, hmmm. dont put your staff in that position, Corporate. we are all long time members who could actually be your marketers, telling our friends and family how super of a place this is instead of the opposite. NONE of us can say come join me, its embarrassing. LA Fitness continues to expand, bet they open up their sparkly facilites with NEW equipment!!! Several of us have also written corporate asking for help and resolution, no response at all. really? you don’t care about us who pay your salary!!! Several of us have also tried to address the inconsiderate members who leave weights on machines, The staff really shouldn’t have to take care of this, but the paying members who learned manners shouldn’t always have to re stack others leftovers. Come on people, you aren’t the only person using the facilities and equipment.
The cleaning people need help as the locker rooms are constantly filthy. Apparently some folks don’t have good manners, and leave mirrors wet, from splashes, there are always dirty floors, and showering can be a new outbreak experience, you might catch something. This morning, upstairs, we noticed dirt on the walls. What exactly are these cleaning people doing!!!
The bottom line is we care, we pay to be here; why do we have to beg for something we should be thankful we have, and other places don’t? Management obviously does not care. The current Manager should walk around to get to know her customers, a simple rule in business. Even fast food managers go around and thank customers for coming in. She hangs out in her office, and certainly does not change her shifts to meet members that attend at different times. 24 Hour Fitness, get your head out! Where is your customer service? We care, why don’t you? How long do we need to be unsatisfied with your product?

Not a bad gym. There is a decent amount of space. Pretty clean and the equipment seems well managed. There is however a few odd smells here and there. The entrance to the men’s locker room is pretty powerful smelling and the area near the free weights smells like fish or something odd. This could easily be a 4 star review or better if this was fixed.

I wanted to leave a review for this gym, because my experience here has been very positive so far, everything about this gym is so much better that any other locations in the area, which I do not like so much, staff is not that friendly as here, at this gym all the staff is super friendly, helpful, warm and they make you feel always welcome.
I also like the fact that it is not cluttered or chaotic, like in the other locations, the cardio section is all downstairs and and the weights section is upstairs, and they always trying to do their best to re-​arrange it to become more and more efficient each time, and allow have more free space between machine, each time, I like that! I also like the fact that everyone here really comes to work out only, everybody is serious about working out, not to show off or wear fancy outfits. The only thing that could be improved is the staff could make sure that at the end, all weights are put back where they belong, Also there some noisy young kids often.

I realized I need to do more reviews than just restaurants.
I lived in many cities and 24 hour Fitness has been mainly my gym in the numerous cities I’ve lived in. In the last 10 years, I’ve been working out at 24 Hours in Seattle/​Bellevue and this location in Beaverton.
Well here it goes.
Parking: you can street park around the building or park in the parking garage. I park mainly in the garage but it is quite narrow and compact. Parking stalls are small, so if you have a mid size truck or SUV, you will probably need to back in. Only if we can get drivers to park within the lines. I dont know how someone can get out their car and not notice they are parked over the lines or crooked. I guess some people just dont care or oblivious to their surroundings. Oh, apparently you can park in handicapped spots if you are too lazy to find parking on higher levels. You are going to the gym, a flight of stairs could do us all a little good.
Front Desk: Basic customer service, greet the customer when they walk into your place of business. Most of them are pretty nice but there are some front desk people that dont want to be there. 24 Hour Fitness needs to have a rule for their employees to put away their phones while working. Which in turn probably why they dont say hi to you because they are busy texting or on Facebook. There are many times where Im standing there entering my phone # and doing the finger scan and not a peep or a moment of acknowledgment from the front desk. Or when you are checking in, they are too busy talking to each other. Basic basic basic improvements can be made here. Not asking much but customer service goes a long way.
Trainers: Melanie is fantastic! She is super friendly, mature, professional and nice to chat with. She also teaches spin classes, I’ve taken her class many times and I keep going back to see her. She remembers who shows up and also acknowledges you in the gym on the days she isnt doing the spin classes. I remember one time I was stretching, she just came over and showed me a few things to do when stretching then gave me some helpful nutrition tips. Little things like that makes your gym experience so much better. I forgot this other trainer’s name, he used to work the front desk, young guy, then started to do some training. One day he was trying to get names and phone #s of people that he can give free workouts to… he said to put my name on his clipboard and will call me to schedule something. Never got a call. After a few months later, never one mention about it. I think it was some kind of quota he was trying to do but he never followed through. Overall he is nice and friendly but if you are going to show someone a free work out, follow through with your promises.
Gym: The locker room needs to be professionally cleaned, it is quite dirty from the grimy floor, general sweeping, cleaning inside the lockers, sinks, toilets, toilet paper, forget taking showers there… you may catch something. Just change into some dry clothes and shower at home. I wish people would stop throwing trash on the floor, its obvious no one sweeps the floor or picks up trash. Lockers rooms are a shared area, please have some common courtesy to share the benches and clean up around you.
The gym has plenty of cardio machines downstairs, which is a plus. The downside of it, about 30% of them are broken or have issues. They have rowing machines but it seems like they bought those machines withouth thinking of a good spot to put them in. They keep shifting them around to find a good spot for them. The latest I saw is in front of the spin room, be careful you dont row into people walking in and out of the door. The staff needs to work on making sure the paper towel dispenser is full and the disenfectant bottle is properly filled. Basics on running a gym. TV’s need to be fixed, there’s a few that have permanent ghost marks on them. Going upstairs is the workout area, most of the machines are fine with no issues, upstairs has what you need pretty good. No complaints there. Only if we can get people to put away their weights and wipe down after using a machine.
I forgot to mention, they put in this new cross fit type of area next to the front desk. I understand the gym has limited space, but when the trainers are doing the sled work (pushing this sled thing with weights) they are pushing it in the main thoroughfair of the walking area where people are leaving and going to the locker rooms. This area is good area to watch people punch the heavy bag thinking they are some kind of UFC fighter or professional boxer. Sorry fighter dude, people are not watching your skills, they are laughing at you. I dont think this gym is a UFC kind of gym, if you are looking to «train» for a fight, you may want to go an actual UFC gym.
I am no longer a member, but this is just my experience. But happy work’n out!!!

I have been going to this gym for approximately three years. The gym is close to my house and convenient. However, management does not pay attention to the issues such as lack of cleanliness, broken tread mills, ellipticals, stair mills, bikes, the stench in the weight area. When you report the issues to the front desk, nothing changes. And why can’t they keep the hand sanitizers and cleaning fluids filled up? It is frustrating to say the least.
On the positive side, Tyson is an awesome trainer, knowledgeable and professional.
I go to the Murrayhill 24 Hour Fitness on the weekends and the difference is like night and day. Murrayhill is clean and the staff is professional.

This used to be my after work gym until I switched jobs until I moved over to the Murray Hill 24 hour. But now I live near Beaverton again so it is once again my regular gym. What can I say it has everything you expect from a 24 hour. They keep it relatively clean and it’s a crap shoot on how busy it’s going to be. Sometimes the front desk people greet you on your way in and on your way out and other days they don’t. One monday it will be crazy packed at 4pm and the next week it will be dead. One thing I don’t like about this gym however is well it can get pretty stinky in here since it is a bit smaller than normal 24 hours. It is 2 floors and the main weight area is upstairs. The problem is there isn’t really well padded floor up there so when you drop weights or don’t set them down gently after a heavy set you make a scene with a loud boom and it feels like you are going to break the floor. This location has a small lap pool, sauna, steam room, basketball court and a giant tire you can deadlift or hit with a sledge hammer.
Well either way. Good and bad things considered. For now…
This is my gym, there are many like it but this one is mine. My gym is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I master my life. Without me it is useless, without my gym I am useless.

So the monthly fees are pretty ridiculous — especially considering how dirty this gym is. The locker rooms are horrific and only enhanced by the people who have memberships here. There are always elderly naked women in the evenings who treat it like a spa because they come here to swim. My favorite review prior to mine is someone who posted that they saw a woman SHAVING in the pool. Still want to swim? I wish I was kidding… the members are straight out of
The staff is pretty snotty and seriously I felt like I was getting a new membership each time I went in… always trying to upsell me this or that and good gods, you have to see my ID and scan this and that. That would be a bit better if the front desk person was not slow and there were not always people in front of me. Their class schedules were super unfriendly — their classes always have room for a reason– no one who actually works for a living can attend one! I am so grateful I now have a much better gym that does not make me want to vomit when I go to it due to the smell alone.

Kristin’s turbo kick class on Sunday 11am is great! I consistently burn over 1000 cals. Prepare to get you ass kicked!

Service just keeps getting worse and worse by the week like the manager can’t even get her own staff together. Omar the one that works the front he keeps this place clean at night I don’t have to sort through the weights since he keeps it organized.

I wrote a review awhile ago but I feel it’s now outdated. This place has been improving. I primarily attend late at night.
Today, there is almost zero turnover rate with the late night staff, but the daytime staff is coming and going more often. That didn’t used to be the case. I’m really, frankly, shocked that the night staff has been there for it seems almost a year. People used to last (literally) just days, sometimes weeks. Kim was at night for awhile, she stayed for a long time, but everybody else was in and out for YEARS.
The late night staff right now is very good. They (most importantly) haven’t quit, and do their job. If you feel like chatting, they’re friendly. By late night, I mean after 10pm. I’m going to say that I hope they ask the girl who works just before 10pm to perhaps be a little more cordial. Many times I come in and she doesn’t even make eye contact, and if you say hello she treats you like you’re some kind of a drunken creep lurking in a dark night club or something. Rather than a customer in a bright gym.
The clientele are pretty cool. If you want to make friends over time this is a place where you can do that. Not immediately, but after a few months you get to know some people, depending on your personality.
The machines used to break A LOT, and my previous review complained about this. Now, they get fixed promptly.
One thing thats still kinda shnasty is the pool. I think in about 5 years of membership I’ve seen them drain it for cleaning one time. Literally one time.
Oh and please get rid of that loud, ground shaking, injury-​inducing, obnoxious tractor tire in the stretching area. People don’t know how to use it, it creates tons of noise, and it takes up the entire area.
Now that city hall has come in it is very hard to find parking. I am pretty pissed off about that. They think that just because they work for the city they get to have the bottom three floors of parking in the garage? The garage would already get full with the bank and the school. Now you have to go many floors up to find a spot because of City Hall. What’s worse is that they get paid by our taxes. Should have reserved the top three floors for them, not the bottom three.

For starters it’s right off a max line so that makes it super convenient. The staff seems pretty friendly so far… they always make a point to greet everyone that walks in. I have taken a few classes there, zumba, yoga and a total fit class. Instructors were great. While there aren’t a huge amount of classes the quality is good. Not saying its the best but its a decent club for a sports club. Its smaller in comparison to the tanasbourne club but I think thats understandable seeing how the building is situated.
In the end of the day your there to work out and it satisfies that need perfectly.

This 24 hour fitness is my home base. It’s a solid choice with a great staff, shout out to Nico!!!
They have 2 «functional fitness» areas with a tire and trx straps and battle ropes. It doesn’t get as busy at Tanasbourne which is nice. They have all the requisite benches and the steam room doesn’t seem to break down like some of the other 24 hour fitness locations.
All in all, good staff, good equipment, great location (LITERALLY STEPS FROM A MAX and lots of parking)
