Pat Nyman Shutters & Blinds has been serving Riverside County for over 20 years. Our home décor store offers a wide selection of window treatments in a variety of colors, styles and designs.
The purchase and installation of these shutters was an incredible addition and investment to our home. We had one room with 5 windows, two of which had existing shutters. We were only going to add shutters to those 3 windows and do blinds in the rest of the house. So gald we did not. Pat had the new shutters color matched to the existing ones and in regards to color, spot on, quality there is a noticible difference, Pat’s far exceed the existing ones, in wood grain, function, and richness. The rest of the shutters were color matched to our trim, base and crown, again, spot on. If it does not«over improve» your home I would highly recomend going with shutters. They close out the light, if wanted, do not rattle or blow with the breeze, help insulate with sun hitting a window, and make such an improvement on the finish of the house. In regards to licensing and such. I researched this, due to some prior comments, and found it is common that blind installers are not licensed. I did pay the deposit requested, I didn’t really care enough to research this, plus I found Pat trustworthy, but I believe if the deposit is for materials 50% is standard. This is not like dealing with a contractor were they will be making material purchases as the project progresses, while taking payments along the way. As far as service, Pat’s installers did a wonderful job. A crew of three, one hung, another made final adjusments, and the final member filled and painted. They gave me instructions on care and use, left touch up paint(three windows have ebony shutters, a bit touchy), and cleaned their mess, left it cleaner then when they arrived. They even hung some of my old blinds in the garage and helped a neighbor with an issue to boot.
Finally, an amazing product, great people from Pat on the sales end to the install, and a wonderful addition to my home.

I am a little disappointed to see the really bad review in 2011 given. So I thought I better share my experience and then let the consumer(as always) decide. We went through Pat in 2009 and he put wood blinds in for us in Kitchen, Dining Room, Master Bedroom, Family Room, Guest Bedroom(Main) and we loved them! He was extremely nice and I have been very happy with our purchase. We had different colors made, sizes and then in our Dining room/Family room over the sliders we had the long material type lever blinds instaled. My housekeeper broke one of the 3 section wood blinds about a year ago and I wasn’t really in a hurry to get it fixed. When I then found out that my parents that live on our property had contacted Pay Nyman also, to come and give them an estimate on wood blinds, I thought what a perfect time to ask him what the cost would be to have mine fixed. When Pat came out, he was kind as always and took a look at our broken blind and took it with him to get it fixed. We were without the blind for two weeks, as expected and when he brought it back, he didn’t even charge us! Almost 5 years later… to me, that says ALOT about Customer Service in itself. My parents are absolutely thrilled with their blinds and were thrilled with his pricing! Retirees living on a limited budget are sometimes hard to please, but Pat succeeded with my parents and there are very happy with their purchase. We will always recommend him to friends and business alike because of our own experiences. He did have a license that we checked up on and it was valid at both times of installation and he NEVER charged us any fees upfront or deposits.

Too late I did business with Pat Nyman Blinds and Shutters, what a bad experience. I went with them because they were a family, locally owned business and I had seen their ads for years. So thought I would be treated with professionalism. After receiving my down payment in half the amount, which is illegal in California, and being told by the son blinds would probably be installed that weekend. He never called, so called him after weekend when he finally returned call the next week acted like I should have known that the blinds were back ordered. Install went fine except one cellular blind had a gap at the top he said he would bring me a valance, which he didn’t so called him and he acted like I was intruding on him. I told him I would prefer to replace the blind with regular blinds instead as I did not like the room darkening appearance. He finally came without samples and said he would drop off sample colors which he never did. When I finally got a hold of him he told me he had told his father and he would be handling it. The father knew nothing of the situation so I gave him the info he said he could not allow me any money for the one that had been installed but would give me his cost on the replacement I said that would be fine. We had an appointment for the following week when he didn’t show I called and he blew me off that he thought he had the day off, I let he know I did not need that kind of unprofessional treatment and I would take my business elsewhere. He called back to see if we could make another arrangements but I told him I did not need any more of their abuse. How has this family remained in business for so many years?

DONOTUSETHISCOMPANY! The dad who owns it is a rude and unprofessional man. Our faux wood blinds look great but when we called to get verticals on our sliding door, they didnt show up the first time, then were late, then didnt call to say when they would be installed, then didnt show up to install. After calling, the owner Pat said that he didnt know what we wanted him to do and that he was in Nebraska. He said«its a fucked week and theres nothing i can do. My sons truck broke down. I have been in business for 44 years and i dont need to be professional». The sons are nice and friendly but the owner is an unreliable, rude, unprofessional ass. Be prepared to babysit this company.

DONOTDOBUSINESS with Pat Nyman Blinds and Shutters. They are unlicensed and any job over $ 500 in the state of California requires a contractors license. They also charge a 50% deposit which is illegal. California law states the maximum amount that can be charged is 10% or $ 1000, which ever is LESS. The product they sell is the lowest quality product you could imagine. When closed, the shutters were crooked and misaligned. It looked like a checkerboard between the dark spots and where the sun was coming through all the areas that were crooked. I wish I could post a picture. Absolutely cheap, low quality junk. I asked them to fix them. They took them out of my house, but left the casings up and I never heard from any of them again. I have called several times and sent them a letter. No response. Mr. Nyman came to my house. Pat Nyman is foul mouthed. I laughed only because he was dressed like a Hell’s Angel. I have filed a complaint with the Contractor’s State Licensing Board and BBB. You have been warned! Update: I sued Pat Nyman, got a judgement against him, then the loser/thief filed bankruptcy.
