History

Established in 1908.

When Claud R. Wheatly opened his office in 1908, he had just completed teaching at a small school in North Carolina. His son, C.R. Wheatly Jr., joined the firm in 1941. Little did he know that he would continue his father’s legacy after his unfortunate and untimely death just 6 years later. What began as a small establishment has thrived into a business loyal to its community. As one of the oldest firms in North Carolina, the Wheatly family has helped and served its community in a wide variety of ways, including the establishment of the North Carolina Highway Patrol. In 1989, the North Carolina Bar Association inducted Claud Jr. into the General Practice Hall of Fame. With now a third generation joining the firm in 1972 along with four other proficient attorneys, the firm has now expanded to be qualified for seven areas of practice: civil litigation, criminal defense, family law, maritime, personal injury, probate, and real estate.
