History

Established in 2010.

Michelle Caves’ love affair with clothing began at a young age when she took an interest in various fashions; specifically vintage apparel from the 1970s. She began buying and selling clothing online through websites like eBay from her home in Rochester, N.Y. Set on pursuing her passion, Michelle moved to New York City to attend The Laboratory Institute of Merchandising, a Manhattan college that specializes in the business of fashion. From here, she obtained her bachelor’s in fashion merchandising.

In 2009, Michelle and her boyfriend decided to leave their lives in Brooklyn for a quieter setting. Once settled in Beacon, N.Y., with an entrepreneurial spirit and desire to have her own boutique one day, she set up shop on Main Street with a commitment to further the arts scene that initially made her fall in love with Beacon.

Her longtime fascination with vintage clothing will be featured in Blackbird Attic by way of clothing, accessories, shoes, and home décor.

Michelle loves a good vintage find, traveling, and anything diy/​crafty including making soap, growing her own vegetables and learning to sew. At the boutique she hopes to inspire with a wide variety of clothing, home and crafted goods, along with gallery shows and other arts related events.

Some of my favorite clothing has come from this boutique. Items are inexpensive, in good condition, and the store is beautifully decorated with a relaxed atmosphere. If I need an outfit on the quick I try to pop over here. I’ve found some great deals, like a $ 10 H&M jean jacket and a navy blue cocktail dress for $ 11. There are clothes for both men and women, and there is also a vintage section. One of the better places to shop in Beacon. Owner is nice. I remember her being kind enough to take a dress off a mannequin and allowing me to try it on in storage because the dressing room was full. Yes, I bought the dress:)

Consigning at Blackbird is great. The owner sends inventory updates often which is really nice. Items are priced fairly. She looks through your items in front of you which I think is a very honest approach. Great selection of vintage and fashionable clothing for both women and men. It is a cute, small, well kept shop. All clothing sold is in good condition.

I love Blackbird Attic! I went there last weekend when they had a little sale outside, and I walked away with a Banana Republic shirt, Forever 21 blouse, and a Gap dress for only $ 10! Everything inside is reasonably priced and incredibly cute. The jewelry and accessories are adorable. I can’t wait to visit again!

Blackbird Attic is such a great consignment store! Michelle does an amazing job selecting the pieces for her inventory. I have purchased a bunch of vintage pocket books, and some great gifts here.

Blackbird is an orderly, well-​curated and very reasonably priced vintage & designer consignment store, with both men & women’s items. The shop doesn’t scream with character, but there are some great finds to be had that won’t break the bank. I picked up a new-​ish Neiman Marcus cashmere top from the consignment section, and a vintage blouse for just under $ 30 together. Overall, definitely worth a visit if you’re in town!

Finally! A Vintage/​Consignment boutique that doesn’t try to rip you off. Sometimes you go into one of these shops and it’s just a mess but not at Blackbird Attic. The owner, Michelle, takes very good care of her store and inventory and prices everything to sell. I purchased a dress there shortly after they opened. The quality of clothing, accessories and brand names you will find can’t be beat. This shop has a very pleasant vibe. Every month they showcase new artwork from local talent with prints for sale too so that’s just another reason to keep coming back.

I’ve lived in Beacon a long time, and never had a cool clothing boutique to shop at that was within the city limits. It also didn’t help that the closest thing to a vintage shop was the Goodwill on Route 9. So you can imagine my elation when Blackbird Attic opened up on Main St.
The selection here is equal parts consignment and vintage, but it looks like they are working hard to bring more vintage into the mix. The pieces are all well-​selected; you won’t find anything stained or shredded here! They also have a huge shoe selection — all gently used and ready for wear. I gotta give credit to the owner, Michelle, for having a great eye for this stuff. She’s also super helpful if you want to bring in items for consignment. It’s a very professional, well cared-​for, adorably decorated and inviting little shop.
The store seems to double as an event space, too. They recently had a kitten adoption event, hosted local folk/​indie bands, and have some art openings coming up too.
Definitely stop in if you can; you’re bound to leave with something awesome.

This consignment shop on the far end of Main street in Beacon is full of great finds! The setup is really aesthetically pleasing, and the clothes are neatly hung and easy to shop. The prices are great and the product is well cared for. If you’re looking to enhance your wardrobe, or if you just want to see a great new space in Beacon, definitely stop by this boutique! And don’t think it’s just for girls– there are a lot of great things for men too!
