Living on the Veg

The vegan food here is SO DELICIOUS! I’m beyond happy there is a vegan restaurant buried between all the seafood places around here. The chicken-​less salad is really really good as is the eggless salad. The buffalo tempeh strips are sooo yummy, I wish I had gotten it as a wrap. I’ve also tried the chuckwich and tuno melt. all amazing.

Fantastic vegan food. Awesome sandwiches and wraps. Get the potato salad for your side, it’s *so* good.

Great locally run veg restaurant on the island. Always opt for the Avocado Club which is great for splitting. The sandwich came with a curry couscous cranberry salad which was super delicious. Tried the No. 6 juice in attempts to kick a cold which was surprisingly very good! Very cute vibe!

The spinach-​potato-​tomato soup was out of the world! I honestly did NOT expect so many vegan options that are so tasty! Very good service as well. The smoothie was also fantastic. On the whole it’s great to have healthy food that tastes so good.

Disappointing… Slow service, incorrect order and extremely overpriced for quantity (and quality) of some menu items. My usual go-​to veg spot on LBI needs to take a break.

Not very impressed. Granted I am not a vegan or even close to it but I could not control my gag reflex as I tried the tempeh bacon… I was told it tastes «just like real bacon»… Completely false. The portobella sandwich I got was so-​so… But I do have to say, the smoothies there are very good. They contain their own home made granola which is a great compliment to any smoothie.

Great healthy option for Beach Haven. Great green drink.

If you’re visiting Long Beach Island, Living on The Veg is the best place for vegan food. They have vegan salads, sandwiches, wraps and smoothies.
The restaurant is all-​vegan, except for the use of honey in one of their wraps. There is a honey-​free wrap available.
Everything I’ve tasted at Living on The Veg has been delicious. This week I ate there four days in a row. I got the Cheezy Tempeh burrito and the Tempeh Ranch wrap, two times each. Yum.
Despite this amazing food, I’m knocking them down one star for still being CASH ONLY. It’s a pain to find cash before going, and often costs a high ATM fee.
Also beware: service can get very slow. Be prepared to wait at peak times.
Regardless, the food is excellent. I highly recommend coming here. It’s the only vegan spot on the island. Luckily, it’s a great one.
Final note: In the summer they are closed on Monday. In other seasons, I’d call ahead and check if they are open. Businesses on LBI often shut down after summer or keep limited hours.

One of my favorite lunch spots on LBI! Food is consistently delicious and they always update their specials. I always make sure to stop here when I’m on LBI!

Delish!!! had the BBQ seitan burrito… Really tasty & great portion size. Came with a side of cranberry couscous that was really good too! Couldn’t leave without trying the vegan chocolate chip cookie I will definitely be back! #yum

The servers desperately need a lesson in a little thing called speed. Twenty minutes for a halfway decent black bean burger. NEVER AGAIN!

Stopped here on my bike for a smoothie. The place is so nicely decorated and very tropical– perfect for LBI. I tried the smooth operator (strawberry, banana, blueberry, soy milk, and something else that I forgot). It was delicious: not too sweet, thick, and full of fresh fruit and the right amount of milk. Their food also looks amazing, especially their wraps and fresh guac. I’ll have to try it next time!

Delicious Vegan food! I especially love their homemade soups and fresh juices!!! I’ve only been there is the off season so we’ve been lucky enough to sit at the bar and get counter service and there seems to be outdoor seating for when there is warmer weather!

Really the only place to eat if you are vegan on LBI. I came here yesterday with my wife and we were thoroughly impressed. From the food, to the cleanliness of everything, staff, music and ambiance. Tempeh Ranch wrap was perfect, a home run. Wife’s burrito special was packed with lots of well crafted components. Sides (potato salad and quinoa salad) were flavorful and fresh but could have used a touch of s&p. This rockin’ little restaurant is just more incentive for us to visit LBI (from Westfield, NJ) more often. Great job guys and gals of LOV.

Living on the Veg is so great. They have so many things to choose from and all 100% vegan. Such a gem. I can’t wait to go back again and try more options! My meat eating boyfriend loved his Cheesy Tempeh Burrito. I got the Chuckwich and it was great, very sweet. The potato salad that comes on the side was so good, too. The ambiance and decorations were so nice, and they play great music, too.
So excited to go back.

We come to LBI every year for a long weekend. This place is amazing … never did we think that a vegetarian place would make it on our list of goto places… Everything we have had is delicious like the wraps and the sandwiches. All of the ingredients are fresh and the counter girl is really nice. We had the black bean burger last time and it was soooo good. If there was a Living on the Veg close to us we would eat there every day.
This place is perfect for a filling lunch for a day on the beach.

Living on the veg is a cute /​small counter service and take out friendly lunch place. So many raw vegan and vegan options! I am so far enjoying the soy delicious smoothie which has pineapple, mango, papaya, banana, and soymilk. I ordered also the avocado club (avocado, hummus, cucumber, carrot, romaine, tomato, alfalfa sprouts on mulitigrain toast (the bread does contain honey) (I asked for no hummus). If I lived in the area I know I would be here often. Everything is about 10 dollars and is a cash only place. Yummmmmm

In LBI you have a limited amount of options when it comes to veggie places. We decided since we weren’t going to cook, we would buy some veggie sides from Living on the Veg. Very cool name I must say.
They have a veggie only menu consisting of sandwiches, sides, drinks…
We opted for takeout since we were BBQing at the rental.
We ordered:
Potato Salad — yummy. Not too much mayo… actually I don’t even think it’s mayo.
Coleslaw — I don’t like cs so I didn’t try it but it did receive great review from the rest of the clan.
Guac — Very good! It had some Indian spices added which gave it a unique taste.
Their staff was very friendly and great senses of humor.
The place itself isn’t very big. They have a bit of space they aren’t using… very strange.
Prices are on par to what you would pay at Wholefoods.

Their food is so fresh, so nutritious, so light yet so filling, I dont see how you couldnt love this place. Even people who struggle with the idea of ‘organic’ or ‘vegan’ would absolutely love this place (so bring your family and show them something new and delicious!!).
There is usually a wait, sometimes long, but its because the food is freshly prepared. What really impressed me though is how attentive the workers here are. We were here on the 4^th of July and things were busy and what not, and while we were waiting for our food (take out too btw) they kept coming out to us, asking us if we wanted anything to hold us over and gave us drinks to keep us happy until our food came. Most places would be in a meltdown «I hate my job and tourists» type of situation on such a busy holiday, but they were so relaxed and nice, it really made an impression on me.
And later when we ate our food on the beach it was seriously the most delicious vegan dish I had ever had. It was all so fresh and had so much flavor.
Ill be sure to come back here every time I come to LBI for now on.
(although the location is totally wrong on the map, its actually on the main stretch of Long Beach Blvd. I believe the google location is correct, its right next to a bike rental place)
