I’m new to the neighborhood and I found my grilled Octopus spot! It’s cooked perfectly, so tender and flavorful! Their Greek salad with Anchovies is delicious! Another to go is the specials of the day! They always have different deals going on especially the lunch menu! The service is a little slow but the good ales up for it!

There are always people in here. The gyros are excellent, the salad is excellent, actually — everything we’ve gotten from here has been excellent!!! Very happy to have a nice, reasonably priced greek place so close to home!!!

It’s lovely! I have the 4 meat combo platter and Avli salad every fortnight. When you got the hankerin’ for some meat cone goodness, this is the place!

My Favorite place to Eat! Some of the best Greek food in Queens. My faves include the Octopodi: Grilled Octopus, the Pork Doner which I almost always get with a side of Greek fries or the Maroulosalata with Grilled Chicken. It can get a little busy during dinner rush, so be mindful of that.

Came here on a Friday night and boy it was crowded! I don’t know if it was just the dinner rush or I came at a bad time. Luckily my friend got there early so we didn’t have to wait TOO long, but even then it was around 15 minutes. I didn’t care too much for where we were seated — a booth near the door. However it was right next to the main aisle(a fairly narrow one at that) and a lot of people walk back and forth. I personally didn’t mind, but if you can, try to get a seat in the back. I ordered the Combination, which was Souvlaki and chicken doner. It comes with soup and lemon potatoes(there are other options, I believe salad and rice?). The soup was your Greek chicken lemon soup. Not too sour but a bit bland for me. Lemon potatoes were also a bit bland, but overall pretty decent. The meats were delicious. Juicy and full of flavor, they did not disappoint. The pork doner my gf got I liked alot more than the chicken doner, so I would recommend that. Souvlaki wasn’t dry at all, unlike some of the other places I ate at, so I was pretty happy. My major gripe was that service was very slow, but I’ll chalk it up to misfortune.

The food was good but it was a horrible service. I was sitting and waiting for my friends to come and the waitress said«are you going to just sit around and not order anything». She could have just asked kindly to order. Also did not offer water to my other friends until I asked. The service was rude and they need to train the staff properly.

I’ve only had Greek food from a couple places before but Avli has some banging tzatziki sauce. I would go back just to eat their pita bread and tzatziki sauce lol. I tried chicken doner for the first time and it was delicious. Doner is like shredded up meat I’m assuming cause they also had a pork doner on the menu. I went with the platter so I could have the lemon chicken soup and lemon potatoes~ I loved the lemon chicken broth! Everything else besides the broth was underwhelming. Love the sourness. It’s hardcore sour. Too sour for bae though. He got a salad(was iite) with his grilled lamb kebab which was so tender. The rice with his platter was iite, too. The lemon potatoes were a bit tough for me to really like. Also, it was lacking some oomph like pepper. I would def come back to try the doners and that tzatziki sauce

Thr place has a lot of seating in the back area. The wait staff are nice. The food is ok. We had the grill octopus which was fresh and tasty, the saganaki which could have been thicker and better, the fried calamari which was good and several other hot appetizers that were decent. I had the gyro on a salad that was dry and not so tasty. I wasn’t impressed. The tzatzkiki sauce is good. I still find astoria to have the better greek restaurants.

Since they first opened on Bell Blvd, I knew I had a neighborhood gem(I lived in nearby Flushing at the time). This father and two sons operation has always been warm, welcoming, accommodating, and truly dedicated to providing exceptional quality through their cuisine. I’ve even had the pleasure of experiencing their delicious catering for parties. Their waitstaff has always been knowledgeable and attentive(love you Bridget!). This is the kind of restaurant that feels like a true family experience. Since moving to Astoria, which is arguably Greek-food Mecca, I continue to make the trip back to Bayside for the food and atmosphere at Avli. Menu favorites: grilled octopus, pikilia, chicken souvlaki platter, spanakopita, whole wheat pita instead of regular, Greek fries, and let’s not forget their creamy, rich, garlicky tzatziki. But the one menu item that truly catapults this business above and beyond every other Greek restaurant I’ve visited in NYC and Greece(which are many), is their avgolemeno soup(aka Greek penicillin). No one makes it better. Theirs is thick, lemony, made with orzo(not cheap white rice), and they don’t skimp on the chicken. I tend to buy extra quarts to bring home and I swear this soup can help cure the most stubborn of colds. Now if they would just open up in Astoria and complete their Greek restaurant domination of NYC… :)

great value! Big portions, solid taste, friendly service :) For a party of five: we ordered fried calamari, cold appetizer special platter(pick 4 for $ 10). And entrée we shared the 4 meats combo platter that comes with salad, pita, one side. And lamb platter with salad, pita, and one side. Tip: upgrade the platters to get sweet potato fries! Tip: big fan of lamb, but in this case it was little bit dry Tip: calamari is bomb. The breading makes it a little spicy. Super crispy. Tip: to walk off the big meal, cross the street to teaspoon bakeshop for dessert ;) Def more than enough food :) had a wonderful time.

Avli never fails to satisfy my greek craving needs! Their octopus appetizer dish is to die for. Still haven’t found a better Greek spot in queens. The staff is friendly and always provides great service. Avli is definitely worth checking out!

Come here every so often for chicken gyro sandwich or a Greek salad. Both delicious. Always get the tzatziki sauce and pit app! Usually pretty busy for lunch but it’s worth it.

Since I’ve gone vegetarian my favorite«go to» side is fries. The Greek fries here were totally worth it. I LOOOOVEEEE Feta so needless to say I loved the greek fries. The Greek salad was equally yum. Both of these portions were big — definitely could share. We also got an order of the Keftedakia, which is Artichoke thats creamy and interesting — like nothing I’ve ever tried. It was good, but I don’t think I would order it again. My friend enjoyed his Lamb Gyro, said it was one of the best he’s ever had. The server’s are attentive and very helpful. We had a lot of questions while browsing through the menu and our waitress was more then happy to help. Will definitely return for the fries :)

Came here with friends for dinner after an exam and what a great find this place was! We got here at around 6 and there were quite a lot of people eating inside but there were tables still available. It’s very well decorated and the lighting was great. The tables and utensils were all really clean as well. Service was very attentive and cordial without being too pushy. Grilled stuffed chicken– The chicken was very moist and flavorful! It was stuffed with spinach, feta cheese, onions, peppers, and garlic and all of the ingredients just blended together so well without being excessively salty. Loved it! Lemon potatoes– My first time trying Greek lemon potatoes and I just found them to be a bit on the sour side. Greek fries– So tasty! I normally hate cheese fries but the chunks of slightly melted feta cheese that they add on top of the fries made them so delicious! Pita bread with tzatziki sauce– Delicious! And I think it’s complimentary too since we never ordered it and it wasn’t listed as being included in any of our dishes. The bread was so soft and chewy and the tzatziki sauce was spot on! I had a wonderful dining experience here at Avli even after a super stressful exam! The place looks great, the service is nice, and the food is delicious! Best part is we each only ended up paying $ 20 each(tax and tip included and we were a group of 4) and we were all stuffed! Avli is definitely a must visit restaurant on Bell Blvd!

Avli’s gyros are probably the closest you’ll get to Greece pork donor sandwiches My rating is only based on the sandwiches.

Avli is a solid 3 star restaurant. But the Greek frappé and galactaboureko dessert are 5 stars. So great. Note that Taverna Kyclades in Astoria is one of my favorite restaurants in all of NYC. So, my litmus test for Greek food is based off of Taverna. Having said that Avli is a great place to dine in Bayside, an area that is not known for having good food or many(good) food options. We had a family dinner here last weekend and we enjoyed it. It was clearly not the caliber of taste, quality and freshness of Taverna Kyclades, but it was still enjoyable. Stand-Outs 1)The eggplant that comes with the cold appetizer combo 2)The grape leaves(!) that come with the cold appetizer combo 3) Lemon potatoes Not So Great 1) The pita is from a bag 2) The octopus appetizer. Thankfully it was not overcooked, but it was not that good and had too much tentacle ratio.(Order the Octopus appetizer at Taverna, THAT is amazing). 3) Domatosolata salad. We knew to get the«real» Greek salad(read: no lettuce). But it came without any dressing. It was just a bunch of tomatoes, cukes, olives with feta. There was oil on the table… but it was bland. Family members ordered the chicken souvlaki and chicken doner sandwiches. Portions are HUGE, seriously.

I wanted to try a new Greek place in Queens and glad I found this quaint spot. It’s very popular on a Friday night and we waited around 20 minutes for a table for six. It looks small when you walk in with lots of booth seating in the front but there is a bigger dining area in the back as well as outdoor dining all the way at the end. We ended up dining outdoors because the wait inside would have taken longer. Outdoor is super cute with the large overhead umbrellas but I wish they had the mosquito repellent. My friend got bitten six times on each leg. Epilogi — highly recommend this sampler platter. It comes with sausage, meatballs, choice of grilled or fried calamari and three spreads. The spreads were delicious with the hot pita bread they give you. We chose the spicy feta cheese, roasted eggplant and tzatziki. It came with two slices of regular feta cheese. The seasoning for the meatballs and sausage were divine. The calamari was good — not too much breading and not overly greasy. Grilled octopus with cannellini beans — this was a pleasant surprise. The octopus had good flavor and the beans were a good combination with this dish. Greek salad — if you order a platter, it comes with salad or soup. The Greek salad had just the right amount of greens so you didn’t feel bad consuming all the meat. It’s a good size without being overwhelming and still saves plenty of room for the main course. Pork doner — this was amazing. Big portion for one person so you can definitely share a dish. I ordered the lemon potatoes and they were nice and soft! Very zesty. The meat was succulent and flavorful. My husband ordered rice with his chicken and lamb platter — delicious. I’m going to get the rice next time — it goes so well with the meat.

Greek food is almost equivalent to(healthier) comfort food. We dined on the chicken souvlaki platter and the gyro platter. Both with ample amounts of food. Honestly, their tzatziki sauce is to die for and I wish I could’ve taken a whole vat home. Their greek fries were awesome but left me feeling a little guilty after my meal… but…hey…isn’t feta healthy??? The platters come with either a soup or a salad, so don’t feel like a glutton if you can’t(or can) finish your food. Come here for unpretentious homestyled Greek food, enjoy a glass of wine as you eat in their backyard, and leave feeling full and happy.

More like a 3.5. I have been on two different occasions and I don’t know if it’s me just ordering the wrong thing but both times, meh was my conclusion on both trips. I think the décor and outdoor seating was great, I like the look and feel of the place. It kinda has an upscale Greek vibe which is super welcoming and the fair pricing is also really compelling. I think my issue with the food is that it seems the dishes had too much of an Americanization aspect to it, I am no Greek but I felt the flavors were muted. The food: Rack of Lamb– Rack of Lamb char-grilled Greek style with lemon potatoes. So I am a sucker for lamb, I am like the Bubba Gump of the lamb world. I think it is a such a great protein. I think the lamb was nicely cooked, it was very tender but sadly it was lacking in flavor. The chops came off the bone with a fair amount of ease, it was nicely juicy but I felt like it was missing seasoning and some flavor. The lemon potatoes were OK, they were a little too aggressive with lemon for me and the texture of the potato could have been a little less mush. Avgolemono– Traditional Greek soup with chicken broth, chicken breast, egg, lemon sauce and Orzo. I thought the soup had nice flavor, it was nice and creamy but kinda standard. I do wish there was more Orzo and the texture of the chicken was a little less grainy. Tzatziki– I thought their Tzatziki was great, probably one of the better ones I have had. It was really rich and creamy, it paired with the pita and lamb very nicely. Grilled chicken stuffed with spinach, onions, red peppers, feta cheese, garlic and extra virgin olive oil– The filling for the stuffed chicken was good, it was a nice pairing of flavors from the spinach to the feta to the red peppers, I was a fan of the filling. The issue for me was the dry chicken, it was chicken breast which is hard to keep moist to begin with but I didn’t care for the flavor nor texture.

Honestly, Avli is the only Greek restaurant I have been to so I can’t really compare it to other Greek restaurants but it is absolutely delicious nonetheless! I always get the combination platter that comes with 4 meats for ~$ 18 before tip & tax. You get to choose between an assortment of meats such as gyro, chicken, pork, falafel, and a few others. It comes with either soup or salad, lemon potatoes or fries, and tzatziki and 8 pieces of pita bread. This deal is good for 2 – 3 people! I also get a side of fries with it which compliment the rest of the food pretty well! Service is good and attentive. Parking can be annoying sometimes but not big enough of an issue for me to not come.
