The Lauren Wendroff Early Children’s Academy is a traditionalist curriculum-​based half day and full day program specializing in a perfect balance of academics and socialization/​play for Toddlers through Pre-​K. With our Enrichment enhancing program, bringing in Spanish, Mandarin, Music, and Science, our Literacy/​Mathematics focused schedule broadens our student’s minds to fun and exciting possibilities that last a lifetime. Beyond academics, students learn how to interact and have fun in a classroom setting.

History

Established in 1961.

The Lauren Wendroff Early Children’s Academy began in 1961 and was called simply, «Nursery School,» through the auspices of the Bayonne Jewish Community Center. We originally began as a daycare center for children 2.5−5 years of age. At that time, our facility consisted of only two classrooms.

As time moved forward, we changed our name in loving memory of a beloved counselor and friend to our facility, Lauren Wendroff, who tragically passed away very young. Due to our love of children and education, we moved into a more academic based program introducing traditional and Montessori based curriculum and newly welcomed Enrichment classes to our daily schedule. Our school has greatly expanded from two classrooms to eight. With a unique balance of academics, socialization, and helping to acclimate our youngsters to a classroom routine and healthy academic mindset, our school helps pave the way for our students to achieve success throughout their future schooling experience.

I have been very involved in the JCC of Bayonne for the past four years. I started out in the after school program as a counselor for students in Kindergarten to Eighth grade. During this time, I enjoyed helping with homework, leading activities, and watched first hand as the children developed during the year. I have also worked in Camp Kadimah as both a head counselor and the Director of Camp Kadimah (grades 1^st-​3^rd). During the summer, I organized and lead games and activities for our campers, motivated campers to participate in new experiences, and worked with staff to create a wonderful summer for our campers. This September, I became the Director of the Lauren Wendroff Early Children’s Academy. Our main goal is to create a positive and nurturing learning environment for our students to thrive in. We are excited to see each student mature and grow every day.
