Used to come here when the previous mechanic was there, he was pretty great and affordable.
Anyway, about the new guy,
I came in for a simple transmission fluid change, no flush. brought 4 bottles meant to keep one for my other car.
First problem: Guy thought I probably wasn’t aware that it only required 2 and a half quarts and while trying to distract me with some talk acted like he was filling then took 2 empty bottles and 1 full bottle and threw them in the garbage. Though i noticed i thought, meh, not worth it and I’ll let him have it.
The problem that concerned me was he overfilled the transmission fluid still… Afterwards i went by the 7-​eleven to check it and saw it was a whole inch over the level… this is no small amount that you wouldn’t have to worry about… decided to go back but couldn’t immediately, the next day he wasn’t there though his sons were. i showed them and they said it was fine. the car felt heavy and speed would drop as soon as accelerator was released. eventually could cause bigger problems. said i’d come back when father was there. couple days later got there and father tried saying i checked and its fine, so I let him know I though him using three and a half bottles might have been a bit much, he said it’s fine and you think I don’t know?! we looked at level full inch over, said that it was fine. said if you want I’ll take some out in a annoyed way. to which i responded yes please. after he drained he wouldn’t take the level proper, splashing it and showing me or not dipping it fully so no proper reading. said whatever, saw my leftover quater bottle was still where i left it when the job was done, asked if i could take it. and drove slowly to the 7-​eleven. took the level it was actually on the mark then. drove the car regularly and everything was back to normal.
It escapes me how they think the job is so complicated and we don’t know how to do it, they should understand most people just don’t feel the need to dirty their hands.
