Houlihan’s

What a disappointing experience. I hope this is not the norm but our waitress got our orders wrong including to forget to enter one order completely. It took an exceptionally long time to receive our food and my sandwich tasted like it has been sitting there a long time before it was brought out. The ingredients did not taste fresh. Our waitress indicated some kind of problem in the kitchen but the problem seemed to extend to the wait staff as well.
They did wind up not charging for two of the orders because one was not what was ordered and the quality of the other was poor.
If I ever decide to try Houlihan’s again it will definitely not be this location.

Besides Cheesecake Factory, houlihans is the only other chain restaurant that I would probably frequent. When I can’t decide where I want to go, I find myself at this houlihans location. Its close to my house and the service and food does not disappoint.
What I usually like about houlihans is that they have options of small plates and healthier meals. I always opt for the small plate of salmon with mash potatoes and veggies. The salmon is cooked to perfection and the mash and veggies are really good. If I feel like being a pig I’ll order some of my favorite appetizers which includes the Thai chicken wings, loaded fries, and bruschetta. I’ll usually catch a case of the itis but it’s well worth it for a pig out session. The loaded fries are so good and it comes with this amazing ranch sauce. They have a pretty extensive menu of everything you can imagine if you’re in the mood for something else. I recommend to not order any cocktails top shelf because the server told me that they use the wells liquor anyway. What an honest server!
This location is in a shopping center so there’s plenty of parking space. It’s next to the theater so it’s a good option for a pre or post meal. The employees are on point and the food is actually really good.

The service is horrible and most of the servers are really rude. Last time my family and I went here, we found a piece of GLASS in the calamari (covered in flour and crumbs mind you). Thank god we noticed it, for one of us could have had a piece of glass down our throats! Don’t go here, save your money, folks! Oh also, in our plate of calamari, there was a piece of chicken. Lol… they can never get any order right!

I love coming here. They are always quick and the food is always delicious! I definitely will recommend this place to anyone.

Bar service here sucks. You could sit here for a good half hour before anybody ask you if you need a drink or if you need anything.

So this is our 2^nd time here and again not good. Had the angus cheeseburger and it was ssssooo much grease. This is suppose to be the best beef. Next the fire exit had chairs and brooms blocking it. Waitress was ok but to long in between checking on us.

When I first walked in I was waiting 5 minutes for someone to come seat my boyfriend & I until we decided to sit at the bar. Today was only $ 1 off select drinks which was a bummer because I thought it would be a better special ($ 1 off doesn’t really do anything). The apps were lower in price only if you sit at the bar. It was my first experience sitting at a bar and ordering food & it wasn’t bad at all. The food came out pretty fast which was great & the drinks were good. Pretty satisfied.

Houlihan’s is our go-​to if the other choices in the area is question mark. I know what to expect and they’re fairly consistent. We travel around a lot for soccer and we gotta eat.
The chicken wings Asian style were really good! Crispy crunchy skin and the sauce was well balanced. My wife’s Prime Rib was tender and flavorful and came with soup and sides. Son’s burger was good — hits the spot. My fish tacos were very good — served with nachos and sauce.
23 ounce draft beers are only a buck more. Always reliable — that’s an extra Star.

Service: Great; greeted at the door with smiles. Our server Mike was attentive and helpful.
Food: Great; Everything was hot, came in a timely fashion and super tasty (we had the burger on the specials menu. the name escapes me… 2 side salads, the crab cake app and the mushroom flat bread)
Lost point: Under our table was still pretty dirty from the prior patrons. There were crumbs and straw sleeves. Minor to some but big to me in this kind of restaurant atmosphere.
Overall: I will return happily!

As a former Houlihan’s server, I was excited to sit down and have some food I had long been craving. What better way to satisfy that than with some happy hour apps at the bar? Unfortunately, my visit at the Bayonne location left my sister and me largely unsatisfied. From one server to another, or bartender in this case, I understand peak hours and the dent they may put in quality service. However, the service I received today was definitely on the lower end of the acceptable scale. I sat down today at about 6:30 p.m. where a female bartender was working alone. She greeted us with menus. I ordered a Stella and two apps. All was grand. Fast forward. There was a bit of a crowd pop, but nothing completely overwhelming. Upon finishing my apps and stacking my plates as a clear sign that I was finished, I was ignored for quite some time. It was after I made eye contact with a male bartender (who had not been there before) that he asked if he could clear my plates. Yes. Fast forward some more. I asked the new male bartender to put in nachos to go and a kamakazie brownie with an extra scoop of vanilla ice cream. I waited precisely 34 minutes without the dessert that I could have done without. (Again, as a former employee I know how long it REALLY takes to make and receive a brownie). I was clearly forgotten about, which would have been okay if the bartender owned up to it. Mistakes happen. I understand that bartenders aren’t so enthusiastic about running desserts, but to eventually serve me a melted brownie with only ONE scoop of vanilla AND charge me for the extra scoop? That’s in poor taste … Especially because I had to ask for the check TWICE (while being EXTREMELY patient) and ask that the extra scoop be removed from the bill. The extra scoop was only $ 1.99 but after waiting more than half hour for a dessert, by principal, why pay for what I never received? Likewise, I was handed the check and never checked on AGAIN afterwards. I intended to pay by debit card, but had to leave cash as the bartender seemed to not care to check on me, ONCE again. Maybe this was a case of server discrimination … Because I look young, I don’t know how to tip, and don’t deserve to be acknowledged (let alone receive acceptable service) during my visit? Who knows. One thing is certain, I will likely only frequent the Secaucus or Weehawken locations in the near future.
On the other hand, food was great … Just as I remember.

Who is this Jaime person that never showed up to my table after 10 mins of waiting… And while i waited two other tables got up to go to the bar… And so did we…
The food is standardly good here, service is usually good, im a frequent enough customer so the lack of service threw me off…
Other than that all good, got what i wanted at the bar… Nice friendly neighborhood kind of vibe… I’ll still dine here… But yeh imma call this Jaime person out… They needs to go

There is always a good atmosphere here. More of an adult «grown and casual» feel which is great. The food is GOOD! It does seem like comes out fresh made to order. Better than anyplace I’ve eaten in Bayonne so far but it wouldn’t have me eagered to go back every or multiple times a week. At least you know what you’re getting here. Always have parking. Last time was a little scary because there was a very drunk person in the parking lot walking towards cars yelling and pointing at cars. I guess looking for his ride. But he almost ran into our car while we were looking for parking. Scary but on goes life.
Anyhoot, servers are ALWAYS nice, funny, pleasant. They are very knowledgeable of the menu. Always a fun time with them. We don’t wait long. They check our table often. Good times! Just hope people take more care to not drink too much.

My partner came here on her birthday with her daughter and had a horrible experience. They gave her a card for a free appetizer to make up for it so we came back for another try. We waited 15 minutes before anyone came to our table. Another half hour to get our food and not once did anyone come to check on us. Not until it was time for the check. Not only did we have another bad experience– but two other tables walked out as well for the bad service.

Open late! Seated quickly. Inside is spacious and clean. Waiters are moderately paced but do not care much to check on you. Service was alright, honestly, it could have been the night I went or the service team I received. Food is alright, tastes and feels greasy but more what could you expect from another chain restaurant.

When you call an establishment and ask about the happy hour, you arrive expecting to find what you were told. Sadly, that’s not the case at Houlihan’s of Bayonne.
After being told by Alexis that from 4 PM to close happy hour was half price appetizers and various drink specials, I arrive to be told by the pleasant bartender that she «hates that they do that» because they are really «discounted» appetizers. After menu comparison, it is about 2 – 3 bucks off on a select bunch of appetizers. Drink specials are similarly discounted. Really no bargain as regular prices are inflated as compared with other restaurants on the area.
Sad that you can’t simply tell the truth about your «specials.»

Love this place
I usually come on Thursday or Friday afternoons. I always sit with the bartender Shannon He’s the best! This place is good for family outing and a great place to watch any type of sport. They make great drinks and the atmosphere is casual but great for relaxing. YosApproved!

When I come here I always order the stuffed shrooms. I love the Wasabi ranch (I think that’s the name of it) sauce it comes with. The small plates are great to share with other people. The service is great like always. On Wednesday nights they host trivia night for various tv shows or movies. Can’t go wrong with Houlihans!

Houlihan’s is a chain. You already knew that. Why is Lauren reviewing a chain? This is New Jersey, land of chain restaurants. This is also Bayonne, land of bad dive bars that have yucky alcohol. If you want something other than PBR you need to head to a chain. I like Houlihan’s. Their bar tenders are pretty consistent with turning out mix drinks. You aren’t going to get a heavy pour here because this chain monitors liquor with those shot readers. Their wine selection is alright. This is not anything fancy.
They have tasty flatbreads and Mac & Cheese. Their beer is a little bit higher quality than elsewhere in town. Service is 10,000 * better than Fridays and this chain is much more consistent with quality.
