The Fat Radish concentrates on good food made fresh. So if you are into this type of place. .. . stop in, check us out, and stay for awhile.
By day we have Panini’s, deli sandwiches, freshly prepared deli salads, our popular fish tacos, house made soups, desserts & pastries. All are available for dine in or can easily be packed to go for that adventure you may be taking on the beautiful shores of Lake Superior.
By night we offer table service dining, some of the favorites are the pan fried Lake Superior fish (no breading for anyone worried about gluten), our char gilled beef tender loin, or the Asian marinated pork skewers. We also offer may options for vegans and vegetarians. Such as lentil loaf, our coconut milk curry roasted vegetables over gingered basmati rice, Asian marinated tofu skewers.
History
Established in 2013.
In February of 2013 Patti Holman was driving through Bayfield on her way to an interview at Big Water Coffee, she noticed a sign in the store front window at 200 Rittenhouse Avenue. After the interview she called and spoke with the relator about the property, made an appointment to look at the space. It was in serious need of remodeling. Patti called her husband (Dan) to come take a look. Dan walked quietly around, then said NO way not again! After bringing Dan back three times, the relator convincing Patti to write a letter to the building owner explaining what needs to be done, and why it needs to be done to get the restaurant back up and running. So Patti did just that and on February 28, 2013 The Fat Radish was born. After 4 long remodeling months our family opened the doors to The Fat Radish on July 1, 2013. A big thank you goes out to many individuals to get this going… Thank You!!!

Business Owner
The Fat Radish is a family run operation. My husband, Dan, and our sons, Jordan + Hunter + Brody all play very important rolls at The Fat Radish. I started my career in the catering restaurant world when I was 11 years old. I have been part of building two other popular, local restaurants from the ground up. (Good Thyme and Pub & Grub). But I would have to say that my best achievement in the world of food took place during the last ten years. I was the food service director for the Washburn School District. While in that position I with the help of a great staff! change how food service can and should be presented to our children. We incorporated a school garden, fresh made items sourcing local products, fresh fruits and vegetables daily. We didn’t stop there, all this was also integrated into the curriculum. So, one could say, «We didn’t just feed the children, we taught the children sustainable eating habits. Please feel free to ask me about this amazing 10 year journey!
