History

Established in 1963.

The Sagtikos Manor Historical Society was started in 1963 by historian George L. Weeks to promote local history and to preserve historic sites, in particular, Sagtikos Manor in West Bay Shore, NY. Currently members of the society give tours of the Sagtikos Manor and give lectures and hold events at the Manor throughout the year.

I stopped here with my mother-​in-​law for the Fall Festival that the manor was hosting. To enter the fall festival we paid a $ 7 entrance fee, which turns out to be the standard house touring fee. We took a quasi self guided tour of the manor right when we entered the grounds. The tour was informative and the docents made it amusing because they dressed in period clothing.
The manor itself is beautiful and it seems to be an accurate depiction of history from when the manor was last lived in. The staff of the manor is still currently researching the manor and currently sifting through the third floor of the manor which is now closed to the public.
The grounds are amazing, they are spacious, well kept and so pretty!
Once the tour of the house is over you have a chance to purchase manor goodies from the gift shop if you wish!
This manor is truly a treasure of Suffolk County and if you’re into history I would recommend a visit!
