I checked into the hotel and I was immediately greeted by the front desk clerk who was able to check me in in a timely manner.
The entrance was clean and they were serving ice cold lemonade in the lobby.
The room was clean and spacious. The room includes a flat screen TV, fridge and microwave.
The hotel is conveniently located just off the interstate.
The exterior of the hotel and parking lot is in desperate need to maintenance but we were able to navigate around the craters in the ground to find a parking spot.
We found it quite difficult if not impossible to use our room key card to get into one of the back doors of the hotel, so we could take a shortcut to our room.
Overall was happy with the price and overall quality of our room.

We happened on this EconoLodge when we learned my mom had a brain tumour and stayed for many days on and off over the next two weeks.. The staff was so accommodating, so kind and helpful with whatever we needed during this stressful time. The rooms were quiet, always CLEAN, more modern than your photos show. Coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave, desk, internet access, TV, laundry on premises, FRESH lovely breakfast, coffee at all hours. but most of all a quiet, clean, safe place to be. It’s just off the highway but no highway noises. close to gas station, 3 fast food places, and a restaurant. Over the past 7 months we have had to be in Bay City (surgery, funeral of my mom) and have always found that they are helpful in getting us and relatives the rooms that we needed; changed sheets daily even when we posted not to, spontaneously helped us with luggage, asked if we needed anything, answered questions that we had about the area, I know that as of Spring 2014 we were in at the tail end of their remodeling so some of the reviews previous to that should not apply. In October 2014, we made a pleasure trip to N. Michigan. We CHOSE to stay at Econolodge because of our previous experiences. They again welcomed us, and in my California sister’s words from an e-​mail to me «And we WILL make the Econolodge our „home away from home“ whenever we are in the „Bay Area“… They give Customer Service the emphasis on Service!!! » I have traveled extensively, stayed in hostels and the Four Seasons. Believe me, when they say «Welcome Home Mrs. P» at 4 seasons I know it’s because of the tip. AT THIS Econolodge, when they say HELLO I know they are saying «welcome. We are so glad you will be our guest». (BTW, 4 seasons Maui HI you’ll get ¼ size of room for 6 times the price of Econolodge.)
It’s not just a great value. it’s a good place to stay.

We got our room online, so it was prepaid. The rating average on the internet was 8.7, which we thought was good for such an inexpensive rate. The hotel was old, but that was not a problem. The staff was also very nice. The room was very dirty. The carpet was dirty and there was mold all over the bathroom ceiling. We did not stay.

I did not expect this place to me nice, but I also did not expect for myself and my girlfriend to wake up with bites all over us.
The management was rude and denied our request for a refund. They said they had a company come out and check for bugs and nothing was found. They would not give me the name of the company so I could confirm.
Worst hotel I have ever dealt with.

My friend & I had to book a room here during Homecoming weekend at the last minute. We knew going in that it wouldn’t be a very nice hotel, but we didn’t realize how (pardon my French, but it’s an appropriate word here) shitty it would be.
It’s dirty, the carpet’s stained, things are gross, the shampoo they left has been used & is half empty, there’s a draft coming from the window making half the room freezing, etc. I don’t even want to walk around without shoes on, so I’ve been wearing flip flops around the room. This whole motel looks like it’s never been properly cleaned. Just a cursory job from the housekeeper. Our heater just needs a wipe down to remove some gunk, but that’s apparently too much for her.
The straw that broke the camel’s back? We have no remote. The front desk girl is a liar who told me that the housekeeper would come to our room with one. She never showed up. I called back and the girl laughed and apologized and said she must have forgotten. Then she hung up on me. Unsure if she was going to send one up to us or not, my friend called back down and she said «If the housekeeper never brought you one, we’re out.» I don’t care that the hotel doesn’t have enough remotes for each room (I’m sure they’ve been stolen, and this place clearly has no money with which to pay for new ones), I care about the fact that she lied. Who did she think she was helping? I’m more angry that she lied than the fact that there’s no remote. As a kid, I had to get up and change the tv by hand, so no big deal.
Totally irritating. I’m leaving this review in multiple places so more people can see it. If you’re thinking this is a decent deal? It’s not. Run. Run to even the Red Roof Inn. You’ll have better luck there. Of all the hotels I’ve stayed at in Kalamazoo (many, since I often stayed with my parents when they came to visit me as a student), this is the 2^nd worst.
By the way, though there were no bedbugs (surprisingly, actually), the mattresses are stained and nasty. Don’t look at them unless you have to-​though I would actually make sure there are no bedbugs.

I thought the hotel was clean. Hotel was a bit old but new carpeting everywhere. Easy access to the highway. No problems with noises or getting woken up at weird hours. Front desk was helpful when I checked in, she told me which door had the shortest distance to my room without me asking.
My only complaint was that they didn’t make my bed one day (although they cleaned everything else), but I never make my bed at home either so no biggie. Mattress was different, seemed like a thin mattress on top of a tall boxspring. I slept fine though.
Free wi-​fi was a bit slow but very reliable. Ice machine always had enough ice to top off my mini-​cooler. Not much at the continental breakfast, but what do ya expect for under $ 60/​night?
Overall good value. I would stay here again.

Absolutely do not stay here. This place was without question the most disgusting hotel I’ve ever stayed at. I stopped here on a road trip based on the price and wish I hadn’t.
The rooms were dingy, dark, damp, and unpleasant. That in itself would have been fine. But the hotel seemed like it hadn’t been cleaned in days. There was still trash in the bin from the last guests. There was hair around the sink and in all over the bathtub. There was some nasty crust on the toilet. Then when we wanted to go to bed there was hair (including some pubic hair) in the sheets. I picked up the pillow and there was an enormous reddish brown stain under it. It was so repulsive I actually went and asked for my money back.
To their credit, they gave me my money back without a question asked.

My girlfriend and I needed a place to stay in Kalamazoo for a show at Bell’s Brewery. Unfortunately, it happened to be graduation weekend at the university so our hotel of choice was already booked. We decided to get a room here since nothing else was available. That was a big mistake.
We thought it would be fun to get a jacuzzi room, since the rates were reasonable. Well… the jacuzzi’s jets would not turn on, making it useless. I called the front desk and they told me to talk to a manager about it in the morning. When we got back from the show (at about 2am), my girlfriend was approached in the hallway by a guy begging her for money. After walking into the room, we then noticed a big water leak in the bathroom ceiling. There was a huge puddle of water on and in front of the toilet, with water still dripping. After all of this, we just wanted some sleep. We went to bed… and kept getting woken up all night by the incredibly loud vent in the room that would randomly turn on. After finally somewhat falling asleep, we awoke to the sound of water POURING through the ceiling in the bathroom! It was probably from someone showering in a room above us.
After a terrible night’s sleep, I found Andrew, the manager, and told him about everything that had happened. He apologized and told me he would call me tomorrow (being today) to work out the bill. Well, it’s now 11:22pm and I did not receive a phone call. Instead, I was billed for the total amount. Not cool.
I just emailed the hotel (since I’m sure the managers are not in right now) and will be calling them tomorrow. I’ll try to update this review when I have more information.
Moral of the story: even if this is the last hotel in the area left with rooms, I will not be staying here.
UPDATE: I received a voicemail from the manager who apologized numerous times for the issues and stated that he refunded my credit card for the entire amount of the room. He said that it may take a couple of days for it to show up on my end, but that he would monitor it and make sure it is taken care of.
While this does not make up for the issues and I do appreciate it (the manager has been very understanding and friendly), I will still never stay at this hotel again.

We booked a last minute stay at this Econo Lodge through Priceline, after learning that the friends we were going to stay with had cats, and I am deathly allergic. We paid our price and thought we were good to go. I specifically requested a non-​smoking room.
We had plans that evening and called to let the hotel know we would be checking in late, to which we were told that was absolutely no problem.
When we got to the hotel, however, it was a disaster. There were signs all over saying the hotel was full. The front desk clerk couldn’t have been nicer, but let me know that whomever took our call letting them know we’d be running late never relayed that to her. All she had left was one smoking room that she had to go off to clean before she’d let us stay there. (!!!) In exchange, the check-​in lady told us she’d refund a portion of the price we paid.
When we got to the room, it reeked of cigarettes. The curtains were half torn down. The comforter on the bed looked like it belonged in 1965. The bathroom was filthy, with dead bugs everywhere.
We stripped the comforter off the bed and settled down for a few hours of very light sleep, thanks to all the noise and commotion in the hallway.
The next morning we went to check out and were told that they thought we had already checked out, and that they had someone else registered to our room. Whatever.
It wasn’t long until I realized, however, that not only did Priceline charge me for the hotel — the EconoLodge did as well! Every time I try to call to talk to a manager, I’m told she’s not working and they cannot give me her schedule. (I was not asking for her schedule — just for a time when I would be able to reach her on the phone.)
This place is absolutely disgusting, and everyone I’ve talked to (aside from the night lady that checked us in) is rude. And, to top it all off, I was double charged for one of the worst hotel stays of my life.
