LSU Tiger Stadium

The high fives and warm hugs, the pleasant aroma of gumbo jambalaya and bbq, the sound of opening beer cans and country and hip hop, the friendly smiles and contagious chants travelling from the campus and into the stadium. These are a few of my favorite things and all memories of a Saturday night in Death Valley that I know I will never forget. Be with 102,321 of your closest friends.

Laters for the Big House, the Swamp, the poser Death Valley that is Clemson, the real place to be on a Saturday night is Baton Rouge and Tiger Stadium.
This is the real Death Valley also known as Deaf Valley because of our exuberant fans! Come on down and learn what real tailgating is all about. You’ll know it’s not chandeliers in the grove but alligator tail, gumbo and Cochin du lait hot of the spit. I guarantee!

The seats are not very comfortable but the view is great from any seat in tiger stadium from the first row to the nose bleed you can see clearly what is going on. Very loud fans so if you are a tiger fan it’s a must to experience this.

How do you not love this place? It just plain owns. You watch a game here, and you go from a football hater to a football evangelist by sheer osmosis of the fabulosity that permeates this legendary stadium. I’ve always loved football, so being here is like being in heaven. And surprisingly, Jesus is a linebacker.

Tiger game day atmosphere is without question a 5 star experience.
The stadium is iconic and seats over 100,000. But there’s not room for your BUTT!
The seating is tight and about as cramped I have ever experienced anywhere. We were fortunate to visit on a less than filled night and had room to stretch out, but for the first half we sat in a filled bleacher section and talk about not having any elbow room.
Tiger Stadium is a bucket list item, however you may actually be more comfortable sitting in that bucket.

Do you really need me to tell you how great this place is? C’mon. It’s Death Valley! Best stadium in the NCAA! My absolute favorite place to be on a Saturday! Stop by and say hello to Mike the Tiger. Geaux Tigers! L-​S-​U!!!

What can I say, I grew up on these hallowed grounds on Saturday nights in the fall. The atmosphere is electric, There is no other place like it on earth. The chance of rain is never!

I’ve been to virtually all the great football stadiums in America, and there is zero doubt: Tiger Stadium is the greatest football experience you can ever find.
Shell out the dough to get tickets for a big SEC opponent (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Auburn, Arkansas, Olé Miss or A&M) and if the Tigers win, the place will come unhinged. I mean complete and utter insanity reigns in that place on Saturday nights in the fall.
My first ever game was in 1985, and when the Golden Band from Tigerland struck it’s first four notes of Pregame, it LITERALLY made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. To be a first time visiting player in that place has got to be as intimidating as it gets.
I’ve had so many wonderful experiences in Tiger Stadium (and a few duds, too, usually when the games get moved to the afternoon to accommodate CBS), but I can proudly say I WAS THERE in 1988 when Hodson found Fuller in the back of the north end zone on fourth-​and-​goal late in the fourth quarter, and the earth it did really move! And the Tigers upset a great Auburn team they had no business beating.
This is the most solid 5-​star rating I have ever given. Tiger Stadium is a no-​doubt no-​brainer. As good as it gets.

If you catch a Tiger Girl by her tail, you’ll end up in prison. But it’s probably better than being eaten, if you caught an actual tiger. Seriously though, Tiger Girls are perhaps some of the prettiest cheerleaders and fans in the college sports world.
First-​Hand Experience: Info on my personal visit to this stadium — I’m an LSU Tiger Girl in my heart. I wish I was anyway. They are soooooooooo good looking. My own Tiger Girl brought me here and allowed me to experience the grandeur of this stadium. One of the loudest crowds, one of the biggest venues for games, one of the best sports experiences in the world. It’s absolutely amazing. It’s the heart and soul of Baton Rouge.
Honestly it’s nearly as amazing when it’s empty too. I love coming to this stadium every single time I’m in town which is probably 25 times so far and counting. Most recently in 2013.
I’ve been to every cool stadium in the UK & North America, due to my obsession with travel & sport. I’ve toured America as a musician for 7 or 8 years. In that time, I’ve seen sports games at, or visited when empty (and usually both), at almost every major stadium in US and Canada. I have pictures of most which I will upload at some point. Also, on future travels, I plan to take new pix, and add more stadia! Watch this space!

All that aside though, this stadium is an absolute fortress. It’s loud, it’s intense (it’s not in tents, because it’s not a circus), and it’s palatial. It’s a huge bowl of yellow and purple (purple is so not a sexy colour but when you combine it with tiger girls and bright yellow, it becomes sexy), and is one of the 10 biggest stadiums in the country and one of the best, too.
There is no way this stadium could not get a 5 star rating. I’ve had great concerts in Baton Rouge too so it’s one of my favourite places to visit. If you’re ever in town, get the Shrimp Burger from Roul’s Deli II and thank me later.

Tiger Stadium is all your have to say. It is a mecca for football and a haven for all LSU Tiger fans the world over. I’ve been to other big schools with monumental football programs but none have the allure and the effect that Tiger Stadium has on the masses.
The best time to take in the beauty of Tiger Stadium is on those special Saturday nights in the fall when the lights are on, Mike is roaring, and that good old Baton Rouge humidity.

The level of shit you get as an opposing fan here is off the charts. I don’t know if it is because I am an Arkansas fan or if they do this for everyone.
So, if a visitor, expect the following
— You will be «tiger baited» hundreds of times. Just smile and move on.
— Expect some rude comments and hand gestures thrown your way, which will get worse the drunker they get.
My advice is stay thick skinned and let it roll off. If you actually start to engage them in conversation they tend to drop the BS and actually become very friendly. You may even score some great tailgate food and drinks. The last thing you want to do is give it back in an aggressive style which may lead to you getting your ass kicked. Remember, there are a hell of a lot more of these corndog smelling LSU fans than there are of you.
So the campus is beautiful and you should really try to walk around and check it out, assuming you can stomach the tiger baits. The stadium is nice and very loud. Excellent game environment, especially at night. The fans really give the Tigers a real advantage.
Parking by the river is probably the easiest for visiting fans and it is free. Now traffic leaving is a bitch so prepare to be in traffic for a while.

I’m biased but I can’t think of anywhere else I’d rather be than a night game in Tiger Stadium. There is a magic about the place that you can’t understand from reading a Unilocal review. If you are a visitor on a big night prepare for the drunk, prepare for the hostility towards the opponent, prepare for the party. Hostility might be an understatement.
My suggestion is to join us and party, get drunk, and be hostile so you get the full experience. It’s been said that Death Valley has a mysterious aura or ghosts from the past. I have to say after going to over 100 games I believe it. This is the premier place to watch a game in any sport imo. The only thing I can compare it to is what I think being at the Roman Colosseum was like during a blood thirsty event and hey we even bring the tiger!

Had my first ever experience of seeing a night game at Tiger Stadium and it was something to behold. Not only was it homecoming with all of the trappings that it brings LSU also was playing the number three team in the country Olé Miss. The stadium itself is a landmark to our great former governor Huey Long whose ghost still walks the campus of the school he loved till the end. I also love the new additions that they have made while keeping the old school feel. It was a wonderful experience that everyone born in Louisiana should have one time, LSU fan or not.

Everyone has to experience an LSU game in tiger stadium at least once in their life. Im a 3^rd generation LSU alum and it means the world to me after all of these years. Very special place!

Chills. Every time I hear those words I get chills. You can’t come to this stadium and NOT be excited. Try to, I dare you. It’s loud as hell in here, the LSU fight song is awesome and the fans are great.
Since the games are almost all at night tailgating before the game is a must. Let me tell you how to do this effectively. 1. Go with someone who has a camper (hello…restrooms and AC… essential) 2. Don’t start drinking at 10am. Trust me. 3. Eat something and alternate water with alcohol. You’ll still have a fabulous time plus won’t be hammered by the time the game starts. I know from experience. Years ago I didn’t follow my own advice for my very first game and tailgating experience. Let me just say by the end of the game I was pretty darn tipsy. So tipsy I did something a little uh, crazy. I wonder if that restraining order has been lifted yet. Haha… I kid. But it was completely out of character for me.
A visit to Tiger Stadium is so much fun and so worth the price of tickets, even you only go once. I highly recommend it.

The SEC has some of the best football stadiums in the country. SEC stadiums, for the most part, are known for their size and how loud it gets on game days.
LSU’s Tiger Stadium is the best of the bunch for a number of reasons. First, the fans in Louisiana are just plain passionate about their football and show it on game days (Tiger Stadium is always near the very top of every list for loudest stadiums in the country). Secondly, LSU prefers to play their games at night which makes the LSU faithful ever the more loud (more time during the day to get your drink on before the game). Finally, Tiger Stadium is the stadium other stadiums emulate. The architecture and acoustics at this stadium are second to none. Heck just last month Tiger Stadium got voted as the top college stadium. It wasn’t even close. Look it up.
So for kickass football camarderie get down to the bayou and hang with the LSU faithful. We won’t bite. Then go watch LSU win in the best college football stadium around!

It’s LSU Tiger Stadium… Woohoo! As good as it gets, anywhere! I could write some long review about the atmosphere, how the team played, the people sitting next to you in the stadium, the roar of the crowd, the food, the tailgating… but I think I will let someone else explain the experience here, giving them full credit for their words.

Dan’s poem, Ode to Tiger Stadium, is all that needs to be said about it… certainly better than I could have reviewed it. But… it is all of what he writes and more. If you have not been to LSU Tiger Stadium on a Saturday night in the fall, the price of a ticket is more than worth the experience.

For my 200^th review I decided to review my alma matar (undergrad and grad school) LSU Tiger Stadium known as Death Valley! As an undergrad I didn’t attend many games in the student section but I vividly remember one cold game when a bunch of my freshman friends and I brought blankets in the cold metal bleachers to cheer our LSU Tigers on! Ahh the good old days!
But now the stadium has evolved into this even bigger stadium with added seating! Now a days when I’m super lucky I’ll get invited to a game. The last game I went to was actually last year around Hurricane Isaac and we had princess parking with this pass that got us on the grass next to the parking lot! Sweet! And the seats were great! I still love cheering Geaux Tigers and hearing the LSU Band from Tigerland play! Oh and don’t forget to visit Mike the Tiger before the game! And of course tailgate before the game is an art in itself! You can grab food before you enter the stadium. I vaguely remember sharing a small pizza with my friend before we entered the stadium!

Favorite place to be on a Saturday, or at any point in time and second place isn’t even close. If you haven’t been yet, you may want to get on that because odds are, within 5 minutes of being inside this place, you’re going to wonder where it’s been all your life.
And at halftime, you’re going to need a Hot Sausage Poboy. You’ll thank me later.

I’ll be the first to admit, that I am not a huge LSU fan. Ok, if I’m being totally honest, I don’t really follow college sports at all.
With that being said, Tiger Stadium is really cool and from what I understand, it is one of the greatest college stadiums in the country. There is no denying the amount of enthusiasm and energy of the Tigers fans that pack the stadium on game day. Games are usually followed by a full day of tailgating, so the fans are extra excited. There are two large screens on either side of the stadium, so no matter where you are seated, you are sure to see all of the action.
I really like the fact that the band is in the stands in the stadium. They really get everyone worked up and add to the rowdy atmosphere of the game.
Concessions are sold in the stadium, and although they are pretty pricey, the line moves fast and the staff seems to know how to handle the large crowd. I also like that fact that you don’t have to walk a mile to find a bathroom. Sometimes, it’s the little things…
