La Quinta Inn Baton Rouge University Area

I would give negative star if I can. This is the worst hotel experience ever in my life. Arrived around 1 o’clock in the morning. There some wired people just sat in their car staring at us the entire time that we were uploading our stuff. Required an non-​smoking room. Walked in the room. It literally smells like whole bunch of people just smoked in this room 5 minutes ago. Bed was never cleaned, hairs were everywhere on the bed. There was a left over take out box on the table. A take out cup filled with alcohol and some cigarette butts. Bathroom was dirty, toilet wasn’t flashed, cigarette butts was in there also. The most ridiculous thing on the table was a used condom!!! This room was nasty!!! Talked to the front desk, they place us another room, toilet won’t stop running, i was too afraid to use any towel in that room, wiped my face with tissue paper and slept all night with my clothes on. If it wasn’t that late, and we were traveling with our cat. We would NOT stay there the second that we saw a used condom on the hotel table!!! This is definitely the worst hotel I have ever stayed in my life.

I have stayed here in the past and elected to stay again when I visit my son at LSU. However, I will NEVER stay here again. I CANNOT recommend this hotel to anyone after this. Upon arrival, there were men (obviously other guests) loitering in the parking lot in their car with windows down and doors open. I had walked by them with my family but when I had to go back by alone they were catcalling and being inappropriate. Our first room smelled like smoke so I had to request a new one. The new one was infested with gnats. It is 11:50 pm and we still haven’t gone to bed because we are trying to kill them. They’ve already moved us once so I doubt they will a second time. The toilet runs non-​stop. The walls and carpets are dirty. Due to the men loitering in the parking lot and the pool, I also won’t be partaking of the free breakfast for fear that they will be there. Do NOT stay here. Night two of gnats and now flies in the room. I had to ask for towels twice. Workers were walking around smoking. This was by far the worst stay.

Room was clean but showed it’s age, fair enough for the price. The internet was great! Don’t stay here if you’re afraid of carpet stains.

Our first room flooded after my husband took a shower. So they kindly moved us to a new room. As soon as I entered I seen a roach coming from the drain in bathroom sink. Then more on the walls. When my husband went to pull the sheets back there was several black hairs in the bed. I would not recommend this hotel. The only postive thing was the staff was very friendly. And they did refund us our money, and we left.

Moving cross-​country with my dog, I had to stay in several La Quinta Inns, but this was definitely more of a No-​Tell Motel that broke me of ever staying in another rundown ghetto motel again.
First let me say, I’m forced to give a star by Unilocal.This place should get negative stars, really it is as bad as all the reviews say… in fact, I should ask my credit card company for my money back as we barely got any rest at all.
When I pulled into this La Quinta Inn and unloaded my things for the night, a really creepy dude sat in his car just staring and watching me. I rushed to finish and he disappeared upstairs… don’t know if he actually had a room there or if he was just part of the whole ghetto experience. More creepy dudes arrived later that kept my dog on high alert all night.
I stopped my drive early, around 3:30 p.m. or so because traffic was so jammed up and I was simply exhausted driving alone from San Antonio (where I stayed the night before at another seedy La Quinta but not nearly «as bad» as this one). Had I known they were having all their trees trimmed and wood-​chipper going until nearly 8:30 p.m., I would have endured the traffic and gone further.
But I managed to resist the urge to pack up my things, deal with Creepy Dude again and demand a refund to check out… thinking surely they’d stop cutting trees soon. Since I get up at 4 a.m., load my vehicle and drive, I’m usually ready to fall asleep after I stop. Driving alone is exhausting. After a call to the front desk at 7 p.m., the manager said the tree-​trimmers were just finishing up and would stop any minute… the noise blared on further rattling my nerves from a long driving day. For five long hours I got to listen to that buzzing sound of wood grinding right outside my door.
The room was… for a lack of a better word: gross. It smelled like that once flooded never properly dried damp ick. Thankfully I had my own blankets that I laid over the bed and never inspected the sheets, slept in my clothes and used Kleenexes on the sticky TV remote. Yes, it was that disgusting.
While I crossed the country, I was subjected to some of the worst coffee I’ve ever had — not that I’m a connoisseur of fine coffee but this trip in particular seemed to be filled with endless «coffee» that made me think it was really just hot water that had been filtered through week old dirty gym socks. However, since I have to give one star, then that star can go to their coffee as it was about the most bearable «dirty-​sock» brew I had the whole trip… except for the New Mexico Starbucks that was like a desert oasis. I digress.
While I did not witness pubes in my shower as others had reported, the water smelled foul, like backwater or even a septic tank. The odor clung to me and made me sick until I was able to properly wash it off in a clean shower with proper water. My pets refused to drink the water and although they were dying of thirst, they insisted on water I had brought along from home.
The place overall was unsettling. Even though the LSU was down the street, this La Quinta Motel was simply the most uneasiest place I stayed in cross country. I will never stop here again, no desire to return to Baton Rouge or any other La Quinta unless, I’m absolutely forced to do so. But quite frankly, I’d prefer to sleep in my car at a rest stop than to stay in another motel like La Quinta again. This location was the La Quinta that has made me a motel snob. For the $ 89 + tax price, you certainly do NOT get your money’s worth, in fact it is one big rip off.
If you are on I-​10 looking for a place to rest, either suck it up and go to ANOTHER hotel… or sleep in your car — but avoid this place! I’m sure at one point we’ll read an unsavory news story about this place… don’t let it be you. Consider yourself warned and move along down the highway, next exit has far better choices.

I am extremely happy with this old hotel/​motel fashioned place. I needed to book a room for a couple days at the end of my trip in Louisiana and had to go inexpensive. Having read the reviews (after I booked., not so bright, but worked out this time) I had my daughter drive me to it and wait to see if it was even inhabitable. Many people
on another review site were pointedly harsh.
This is what I found; An old building that was reminiscent of the 70s and early 80s, maybe sort of being held together by wishes and prayers. I found staff extremely polite with a sense of humor and desire to be helpful. I found a clean room despite the aged ness of the fixtures. I found a very simple breakfast, but it is fine to get you started. I found a clientele that looked, for the most part, families trying their best and small business people also doing their best. Definitely not the «sketchy and transient» folk another reviewer from another site shared. It’s comfortable enough, clean enough, and gets my recommendation for the unpretentious truth about what they have to offer. I did not use the pool so I can’t say anything about what that experience might be.

If I could leave zero stars, I would. The staff all the way from the General Manager to the Front Desk workers were completely unhelpful and incompetent. I originally booked through Expedia, and called ahead a few days in advance to adjust my reservation, and was promised that the Expedia rates would carry over. When I arrived to check in, not only was my reservation not correct, but the Expedia rate had not been applied to the extra room I added. The front desk receptionist that checked me in promised I would get the Expedia rates when I checked out and the manager was in the office the following morning. I reluctantly carried on with check in. The next morning, the manager would not fulfill her employee’s promise, stating that the Expedia rates only work for Expedia bookings, even though it was their fault that the booking hadn’t been adjusted correctly in the first place!
I even called customer service to try to resolve the issue and they transferred me right back to the General manager that had refused to give me the price I was promised.
All of that is in addition to the fact that they charged the wrong credit card, had dirty bathrooms in the room, and a sketchy parking lot.
If you need to stay at a motel in Baton Rouge, FIND A DIFFERENT ONE.

The main appeal of this place was the fact that they allowed pets and I was moving across the country with my furry friend. That being said for the $ 89/​night rate I got on
, this place was a complete let down. I will say the lady working the front desk was friendly enough but the hotel is obviously aging and very little has been done to improve. When pulling up to my room, some dudes were blaring rap and screaming about stealing his jersey (not sure what that was about) and a bunch of kids were having a pool party (which continued to 2 in the morning). The room looked like a place where they change the sheets, but don’t actually clean. My dog was sniffing all over the place so I can only imagine what kind of things he was searching out. I finally did get to sleep, excited to grab a «hot continental breakfast» before hitting the road. The hot either referred to coffee or toaster that they offered to heat up slices of bread. Continental breakfast was either toast, raisin bran, or some packaged muffins. Awesome! Overall, I expected this much out of a hotel asking say $ 50 a night, not near $ 90. I don’t plan on staying in Baton Rouge anytime soon, but definitely won’t be staying here!

Good, decent LaQuinta, what was awesome was that I left my wallet in my room by accident checked out, drove 3 hours away, finally realized I forgot it, caled them back, they awesomely found it saved it for me and I picked it up three days later on my way home thank you SO much!

We really should have checked the Unilocal reviews before we decided on La Quinta Inn. This place is super ghetto. We first made the reservations 1 month ago for 3 beds for 4 nights. 1 week ago we decided to call and confirm only to be told they never had our reservation on file. Ok.
So we make another reservation for 3 rooms with 3 King beds. We arrived last night and were told those rooms were no longer available and instead we were given 3 rooms with queen beds. Ok that’s still fine.
When my brother walked into his room, he quickly discovered it was a smoking room and the stench was so strong it was as if someone had just hot boxed the damn place! The second room he was given had not even been cleaned yet! My mother experienced the same thing with her first room– not clean. It is 9pm at this point so why on earth would a room not be cleaned by 9pm? Our room had stains on the sheets and pillow cases.
Additionally, the bathroom has no fan, the Internet did not work and the noise outside was ridiculous (pretty sure there is a nightclub like 30 feet away). We listened to people fighting outside our door for hours, and someone even knocked on our door at 9:30pm claiming to be housekeeping. When we went to the door, he was gone. So yeah, that’s creepy and unnerving and needless to say, we are checking out and taking our business elsewhere.
Save your time and money and go somewhere else.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Dirty rooms, reservations that had been «misplaced» more than once, moldy, stinky rooms, terrible management and customer service, problems with the heating system, no bathroom exhaust, wifi did not work, had put me into a non-​smoking room that had (according to the smell) just been smoked in, once moved, the new room had not even been «cleaned» yet, third room, did I mention it’s dirty? The pillow cases, sheets, comforter are all stained and disgusting. A couple pubes in the tub. What an experience! Be advised, if someone comes knocking on your door at 10pm claiming to be room service, do not open the door.

Horrible horrible customer service ! Do not stay at this location ! We in fact will never stay at any la Quinta because management did nothing to remedy the situation

The staff was lovely, the gal who stocked the breakfast area was sweet and very helpful & accommodating. The guest room however smelled musty, and my allergies have have been awful the last two subsequent days. Even my son who never has allergy issues woke up congested. We are aware that another guest left the hotel because of mold, we did not see any mold, but my allergies tell me there definitely tell me otherwise. There was also hair in the corners in the bathroom, which is probably a result of rushed or careless house keeping. The bed was comfy, the sheets were clean, but we know when we are back to Baton Rouge we will not stay there again.

The hilarious thing about my review is, I literally was reading the «pube on the bathroom door» review when we pulled into the hotel.
I thought, «well that’s unfortunate, one of those weird, once in lifetime things that you can tell to your grand kids one day.»
Sadly… That wasn’t the case for us, but I’ll get there in a second.
As far as safety goes, this hotel is on the cusp of: I just saw a drug deal on the side of the street on our way to dinner (I’ve already forgotten all the details, wait did it really even happen?) and a really nice area near LSU with good restaurants and shops. So, if I were alone I wouldn’t stay here, but with my bf I felt completely safe. (I live in Houston, some areas are sketch, but they are near nice areas or they are just a rough area and are harmless and fine. BUT THEN there are some areas that Houstonians know to avoid, especially at night. If I’m not familiar with the city I’m in, I don’t feel comfortable staying in any sketch areas, because I don’t know the rough and harmless from the areas to avoid period. So safety is a huge deal for me with hotels).
Friendliness of staff was good. They were nice and the lobby was clean. Breakfast was good. Nothing to complain about there.
Upon heading to our room and getting up on the 2^nd story balcony, we noticed the smell of urine… And it was STRONG! Not to worry though, our room smelt fine so it didn’t even bother me after we got inside.
After briefly checking our room (which appeared clean, pretty updated,
and just fine for the price) we headed to dinner.
When we got back to shower… I noticed some little friends in the shower (pics attached)… Friends as in PUBES! Not 1, but 7. I counted 7 pubes. 7. We were tired and it was beyond late, so I used some gloves and cavi wipes (high level disinfectant… I’m in dental hygiene school, I’m paranoid about cleanliness and communicable diseases so I have them with me at all times) to clean it and I wore flip flops in the shower. The shower was DISGUSTING. Like, has it ever been cleaned? The corners were caked with buildup, and did I mention there were 7 pubes?
The rest of the bathroom was fine, toilet was clean, sink was clean, the floors have been redone recently and looked clean.
Honestly, a one or two night stay here wouldn’t be TERRIBLE if you aren’t alone and you have some disinfecting supplies (Clorox wipes or Lysol) and shower flip flops. Or, if you aren’t a germ a phobe like me, you would be probably be okay. You DO get what you pay for here ($ 72 a night for a $ 109 a night average in Baton Rouge). So something’s got to give.
On another plus side it has a desk, free wifi, nice TV a fridge and microwave in our room.
If we have to come back again for business, I could see us staying here again (granted I have my cleaning supplies).

So, took a trip across the country with a couple of friends summer of June 23, 2014. We stopped in Baton Rouge Louisiana for the night. It was my first time here and the bridge that welcomes you from the west of BR was a marvel to see. Upon arrival we booked our room off
. I paid 90 bucks on my card Upon for a non smoking room, but of course I was forced to got a smoking room. Definitely was not to thrilled about it but I went on a head and took what was available. It was close to 5 ish when we arrived and house keeping was still on property, cleaning rooms, Hmmm. Over looking the initial public appearance we still decided to stay at this establishment. It seemed friendly and inviting with all the noise chatter coming from the pool area with occupants staying the night. Upon nightfall, a mysterious man in a rent a cop costume began patrolling the premises of the hotel. Unpacking and standing near our vehicle, my friend and I noticed that we were in his patrol route. He was hesitant and nervous when approaching us as if he was about to ask us out on a first date with a girl he liked. Demanding some identification, he requested our room number. Weak as fuck from laughing on the inside from the way his approach to us was conducted I gave him a pass and cooperated. The man in the cop outfit informed us of weary travelers loitering
where we were parked. That struck a nerve but my friend was able to keep me grounded, felt like that had more meaning/​intention then intended to, I let it slide. Some time passed, we left and had dinner, returned to the hotel and continued to enjoy our time. Couldn’t really sleep so my lady and I needed some air at 2 am so we stepped out infront so we can have some privacy, since our friends had crashed to sleep already. Sitting on the stairs, enjoying the good weather before the sun appeared. Cop o coin apperies and ask if things are ok, what room are you staying and we responded yes, and then out i of no where, he demands we go inside. Wtf, Is there a curfew law for adults that I didn’t know about?! That really infuriated my whole experience at this place of business. So I believe what I’m saying is you pay for what you get and I was not pleased at all with the customer services that was provided. If you got extra money just go for bigger named hotels in the area. Hopefully your experience won’t be as bad as mine.

This is a solid reasonably priced place to stay. It is in a safe area and the property is run down and scary. My room didn’t have towels, but the front desk brought them immediately — not a big problem. They have a continental breakfast from 6−9am, free wifi and parking. For the price it is a great bargain. I will probably stay here again.

After an 11 hour drive all we wanted to do was find a hotel that had the basics and decent, we found this one and called!
When we called the person on the phone hanged up on me 3 times just telling me the price and nothing else I asked… We thought it sounded good for the night so we tried reserving and we were not able to reserve it seem like you can’t make reservations there!
The room was horrible And stinky and dirty! There was a bug in one of the beds and they change prices as they wish! When we got there it was $ 15 more expensive than what I was told. I know is my personal experience and maybe I just had a very bad one but I do like to read the reviews before I go anywhere! I will never go to any Quinta inn hotels anymore, this was my first and last!

Decent for $ 60−75/night, or whatever the rate is. The ladies at the front desk were super friendly. The wireless was slow, but free. The room seemed clean enough, although I wish there had been shampoo & conditioner, rather than just conditioning shampoo.
The 6 am-​9 am breakfast was limited, but I was surprised there even was one. At least there was fresh fruit (bananas and red delicious apples) and yogurt. They also had instant oatmeal, cereal (frosted flakes or raisin bran, it looked like) and milk, coffee, a waffle iron, plain bagels (with cream cheese, jam, butter), and assorted muffins.
Make sure you have a car though… This location is not very pedestrian-​friendly.

If you are looking for a cheap place to stay and are not really looking for aesthetics, then this may just be the place for you. Usually the above criteria is all I really look for in a place for lodging but this place initially grossed me out.
We settled into our room and at first glacé, it looked OK. When we went to the bathroom and closed the door we found pubic hair on the back of the door! WTF??? How in God’s name did that get on the door??? I really don’t want to know. We called the front desk and told them about it and they immediately gave us a new room.
The staff was very apologetic and gave us a new room immediately. They did a great job of handling the situation but we couldn’t get that visual out of our head for the rest of our stay. I am glad we only stayed there one night.
The layout of this place is not very user friendly. It has no interior entrances to the rooms so my wife was concerned about security as there are many twists and turns and many places for hoodlums to hide. We didn’t have any problems though. The staff was very friendly and helpful. and they did put out a wonderful complimentary continental breakfast spread in the morning. I am still having a hard time shaking that door visual though. I hope I don;t forever associate La Quinta with pubic hair!

I cannot recommend this motel except for the fact that it is more or less clean and cheap. It needs a major renovation … really … it probably needed a major renovation a couple of decades ago and still needs one today. Service is super-​friendly and breakfast is actually tasty. TV and remote had to be changed out and tub does not drain. It does seem clean and service is friendly.
