Growing up in Shenandoah I can remember when George’s first opened! I can honestly say it is still a four star neighborhood eatery to me! I am home to visit and my nephew surprised me with a shrimp poboy today for lunch. As always the poboy was overflowing with fresh tender shrimp that were seasoned and fried to perfection. I was more than full when I finished and hardly had room for my French fries! Good thing we shared fries or I would never have finished them. Thank you George’s for remaining wonderful all these years! I have enjoyed many drinks on your patio and many, many lunches and dinners from your menus!

Acceptably mediocre. Its kind of like food limbo. Its not great, but not bad. Just meh.

Great food. Great drinks. Great service. Has the occasional live band at night which is pretty cool too. One place I always try to stop at when I’m in town visiting family.

This place has it all. Great food, stocked bar, fun atmosphere, live music, a covered patio and great staff. Big fan of the Muffalletta. Will most definitely visit again!

Before chimes east showed up on this side of town George’s was the only decent late night option here so it was a positive for me. Georges always has ha a great Friday fish special and with higher prices this still had not changed — plus they know how make a real cherry coke and the folks there are always pleasant.

George’s on O’Neal is the second location of the popular Perkins Road location. They serve typical bar fare(burgers, sandwhiches, fries, etc.) and the prices are decent $ 5-$ 10. The interior is kind of dingy(dust on the fan blades and lights, etc.) and the service is so-so. The main redeeming factor is the play ground for kids and the nice covered outdoor patio area. They also have live music on the patio from time to time. Overall, it’s a really limited menu and the food is nothing special, but they are one of the only restaurants in the area with a playground.

I used to really like this place. I’d stop in at least once a week. But they started going downhill 3 or so years ago. They stopped being able to hold on to good bartenders, they started adding on to the outside, they began closing early, and the food went from good to mediocre. Predictably, fewer and fewer people come in. The last straw for me: They switched to Leidenheimer bread for the po-boys. It’s so tough to bite into that your po-boy contents go squirting out the side of the sandwich. Just say«no» to Georges O’Neal.

I can’t even count how many times I have and will return to this place. It’s entirely because of the outdoor children’s playground. The food is good, but honestly majority of the time, it is not worth the price and doesn’t fulfill my shrimp po-boy cravings. My girls always wanna go there, so we will keep on going as long as there’s room on their Little Tyke filled outdoor patio area :) Oh and if you get the specials, the price is a lot more reasonable than regular menu ;)

Omg. Just had the worst meal ever. I had a hamburger steak plate with gravy so thin, well, I’ve seen thicker broth. The meat was not seasoned, they just threw some onions on top. I’ve eaten there before, I like their catfish but I would have been embarrassed to serve this if I were them. But there again, the kitchen help were cutting up, I guess it was an inconvenience to actually cook for a customer. I’ll never go back.

It’s George’s. On O’Neal. It doesn’t have the charm of the original, but the food’s the same which means it’s awesome. This location is also significantly bigger so it has a playground for the kids and a bar with a stage for bands to play. I get the same things here as any other George’s: Burgers, Chicken fingers, or if I want to feel like I’m going to have a heart attack, the Doug’s special. Basically if you are craving George’s, live by O’Neal Lane, and don’t want to drive far, there’s no reason to not come here.

I go here every Thurs. & Fri. after work either to eat r have a drink, & listen to the band. Sometimes I stop in on Sat. night for a drink & get geared up listening to the band before going somewhere else. They close too early, just when you’re getting geared up! Bacon cheeseburgers are the best !! Friendly staff :-) Patio and entertainment is fun but during this hot weather, they need to have more fans out … It’s hard to have fun when you get hot as hell :-(

GREAT shrimp poboy! Nice people. Obviously preferred by locals. Large selection of hot sauces. The really good news is that I didn’t see a single LSU reference. Refreshing!

The only reason I go to this place is because its right around the street from my work. Their food is really overpriced. Their drinks are strong, but still expensive(about $ 7 a piece). I wouldn’t recommend it overall, but it’s not horrible. They do have a nice patio.

Your typical college-style restaurant featuring American-style cuisine. Here you can find sandwiches, poboys, hamburgers, and seafood. The prices here are relatively cheap, and most of the food is fairly good. If you are with a large group, you may want to go to another restaurant because you will have serious trouble finding enough seats together. If fried food is not your thing, then you better forget this place.
