One day our office wanted to have lunch together there is 9 of us. I called ahead and told them we would be coming. Fast forward. we arrived and we were told to wait. We waited 30 minuted and were sat inside after we requested to be sat outside. We sat a an old outdoor patio set(2 put together, they were covered in rust) they were using as a table. We showed us to our table that only had 6 chairs we had 9 people. She did not wait for us to be seated and left us standing there with no menus or silverware. 3 of my co-workers were standing up and no one ever came back. So they spoke with other dinners to use the chairs they were not currently using. We sat at the table for about 10 minutes and a little lady brought us one thing of salsa and two baskets of chips… for 9 people. She never said a word and when we asked for more salsa she walked away. 10 more minutes go by and NO waiter! Finally we stopped someone and asked who was going to wait on our table. We quickly got a waitress. She provided us with menus and silverware. These menus need to be replaced, the pages were falling out and some of us had duplicate pages while others were missing pages. Also, the lamination was coming off and they had food on them. We have now been in the restaurant for almost and hour and we only get an hour for lunch. Everyone quickly orders and there is about a 20 minute wait on our food, which isn’t bad. The food came out and half of us were missing things. The waitress was no were to be found. She simply dropped our food off and left us. We stopped another waitress and asked for her help in getting the things we were missing; she quickly came back. The food was okay at best. many of us did not care for our food. I had the steak fajitas and the meat was so tough and swimming in grease. All in all I will not be back.

I went to Fernandos yesterday with my sister and niece. I haven’t been here in years, but my sister has and said its always hit and miss. She wasn’t lying. While the food was good enough(the rice is divine) the service left a lot to be desired. Our waitress had to be new. She just seemed spacey. She first had no clue about the veggies in their veggie fajitas. I mean, I could understand not knowing offhand. But then she just made stuff up and I was like oooookay. Then she forgot my order of rice. My sister ordered the taco plate that comes with a side of beans and rice. Because my niece never eats much, she was going to share with my sister so she ordered an extra side of rice for her. The waitress decided to just double up the rice on the taco plate and left off the beans. When my sister explained that’s not what she wanted, the waitress acted like she was confused. Plus she didn’t do well with refills or checking on us. Also as a side note, we ordered the guacamole dip to eat while we waited for our food. It was good, but it was actually a guacamole salad with more lettuce than guac. I guess I would rather have known that because I’m not a fan of shredded lettuce with my Mexican food. I’d give them another try, I just hope I get a different waitress.

Fernando’s is always a good bet. It’s never really busy no matter when I go, and the waitstaff is friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is bright and lively, and the bar area has garage doors that open to the patio. Nice on a breezy day! Sometimes there is live music, sometimes there’s karaōke, but I don’t think there’s something going on every night. On to the food! The chips are hot and the salsa is cold and spicy! I really their salsa– it has an overall smooth consistency peppered by small bites of onion and cilantro. The white queso is everything you want in a queso. The nachos are HUGE– a pile of chips topped with cheese, beans, meat, guac, black olives, sour cream, and maybe even more! I prefer the type of nachos that are flat on the plate, but these are really good. Chicken quesadilla comes cut into 6 small wedges but has grilled onions inside and served with guac, sour cream, and pico. Very tasty. My favorite entrée is the fajita chicken tacos al carbon. Perfect fajita chicken rolled in two flour tortillas and topped with grilled vegetables and white queso, served with rice and beans. I have liked this dish every single time I’ve ordered it. The fajitas are great, the cheese and onion enchiladas are fantastic. The A La Carte menu is comprehensive, allowing patrons to order a single taco, enchilada, tamale, and all the usual fare. My one bad experience in years of eating there was this past week, with dessert. The tres leches cake was somehow both not soaked through enough and grainy. The taste was bland. But this is one complaint! Overall I love this place and eat here frequently!

The people that work here were really sweet and generous considering we came here 10 min before the kitchen closed. We were seated and our server was very generous. We got a margarita. And enchiladas. Food was ok. I would come back when I would have time to order more food & during happy hour because it was pretty expensive for 2 people to eat and drink without happy hour

Wish they had more healthy options, but i honestly can’t complain. Waiter was awesome and very accommodating as I cant have any gluten. He got me a side of grilled veggies and a corn tortilla to make my own taco. Service was quick and food was decent!

After much«where do you want to eat tonight?» debate I decided on trying Fernando’s for the first time. I have eaten at many Mexican restaurants and if I do say so myself I’d like to think I have a very trustworthy, perhaps sometimes complicated, but definitely delicate«palate.» I was stuck between El Paso, which is my regular go-to restaurant for Mexican food, or trying a new place, Fernando’s. Was this a very wise decision? Nah. Let me put this out there. The fajita portions are smaller in comparison to other Mexican restaurants I have frequented. Usually I can split a single fajita plate with someone else and still have leftovers. Could I do that here? Negative ghost rider. Also, The meat(steak) tasted very much like BBQ slathered on it and the hot plate which completely threw me off. The chips weren’t warmed up. The wait staff spent more time outside socializing with each other and their cell phones outside that the hostess had to be our waitress as well. I can honestly state I’ve paid the same money or even less for bigger portions and more authentic tasting food elsewhere.

Where do I begin. Pulled up and the employees sitting outside. Get inside, no hostess. The chips are hard and cold. Ordered the regular fajitas. My wife and I love Mexican food so we try many places everywhere we go we get the fajitas and share, even after sharing we have enough to bring home for work the next day or supper the next night. This place, you do not. The portions are small and the same price that we would pay at any other Mexican restaurant. When the food came out we immediately smelled BBQ. The food tasted like it was grilled with BBQ sauce. Not authentic at all.

Food is good, margaritas are not. But ultimately after many many tries I have come to the conclusion that this place has the worst, and least attentive service in town. Only come here if you want to wait an hour for your food. Like I stated earlier, this is NOT a one time occurrence.

Excellent service, fantastic food, love the happy hour deals… Possibly the best fajitas I’ve ever had, they also have delicious desserts and appetizers. I’d recommend the white queso dip or the flautitas. Top shelf margarita exceeded all expectations

So, the chicken fajita quesillas should be the thing you have to order every time you come.

The food is OK. My pregnant friend complained that her food was too greasy and asked if it could be made with no butter. The waiter then asked her, «Who’s going to pay for that?» referring to her meal. He later complied to her request. After our meal, I noticed a dead bird in the chair next to me! A DEADBIRD!!! Had I seen it prior to ordering, you better believe we would have never eaten there. TRAUMATIZED!

Went and ate lunch here today with my parents and we are all in agreement that we will never be back. For starters, the theme of this restaurant is SALT. Salt on everything, hell put some more salt on the salt. The complimentary chips and salsa are generally the most difficult item for a Mexican restaurant to fuck up. The chips were cold, kinda stale feeling and of course highly over salted. The salsa was also very salty and tasted more like onion than anything else. I ordered the burrito suizo, and was less than happy with it. The refried beans were room temperature and tasted straight out of a can… oh and surprise, they were really salty. The rice, surprisingly enough, was not at all salty. Nor was it anything else. Just very bland rice. And then… the«burrito». Supposedly filled with fajita chicken, the wrapper simply crumpled at any attempt to cut it. Out tumbled bits of chicken highly reminiscent of pre-cooked«grilled» chicken with the fake grill marks on it. And oh boy, was it like eating a salt lick. If I were a horse, I probably would have loved this lunch. A microscopic veneer of pale green sauce was present on the burrito, but was so scant as to not impart any flavor. I forget exactly what my mom ordered, but I do recall the plate had a neon red cup-sized bit of tortilla overturned on the plate and oozing a tiny bit of queso. She said that it was horrible stale and discarded it promptly. Regarding the rest of her food, she also stated that it was lukewarm at best and overly salted. My dad got the chimichanga plate, and when it first came out we were under the impression he had been brought the wrong dish. What appeared to be a hot tamale perched over some sauce and the same tepid beans and bland rice. After cutting it, we concluded that it was in fact a chimichanga; just the most diminutive example of that item any of us had ever seen. If Derek Zoolander were dining there, he likely would have queried if it were a chimichanga for ants. He remarked that it wasn’t horrible, though a bit salty. He said the queso sauce was some of the worst he had ever encountered. That being said, Fernando’s wasn’t all bad. The atmosphere was cheesy and the open garage-style doors offered a lovely view of busy Coursey Blvd traffic — perfect for any diner who loves the squeal of tires and honking horns so common on busy roads thanks to the horrible driving of us Baton Rougeians. The prices? Well, most items ranged about 25 – 75 cents higher than a comparable restaurant, though other restaurants in the same category tend to serve much better food. So what does that leave… Ah, the service. The service actually wasn’t bad. I didn’t catch our waitress’ name, but she was fairly attentive. She apologized a few times when we told her how bad the food was, and quickly brought us our check. Not the best service, mind you, but at least this painful experience was over with some expedience. That being said, I would absolutely recommend that nobody ever eat here, ever. Especially any of you who may have already high blood pressure. The near lethal levels of salt in the food may actually kill you. I think this is the first restaurant I’ve ever reviewed that I’ve ever had to warn people about the possibility of their imminent death if they choose to dine here, so take that for what it is.

Strong cheap drinks and great fajitas that have bacon and lots of peppers. Never a wait and the staff is friendly. Beware if you are not a fan of karaōke! Often has live music but also has a nice patio area if it is too loud inside.

I have been here many times. Food can be very good and they have cheap booze before 7pm. It has a neighborhood feel to it with humongous garage doors that open up around the place if its not to hot. The owner‘s daughter has more curves than the Long Beach Grand Prix.

Yup, this is a tex-mex joint. I came here at lunch with some coworkers and enjoyed sitting in the open-air bar. It was a little loud with the road right outside, but the fresh air was nice. The chips were so good that I nearly made myself sick on them, but the rest of the experience was just«meh». I had the mixed fajita plate, which came with enough meat to make about 2 tacos. The steak was decently seasoned, but kind of stringy, and the chicken was just so-so. The plate of sides had rice, refried beans, and a little guacamole, which were«bland, salty, and decent» in that order. $ 12 for what basically amounted to 2 average tacos means I’m probably not going to head back to this place any time soon(though I’d probably pick it over Ninfas, if I had to choose one or the other).
