Party of two for dinner on a Friday night. Promptly seated and then greeted by our server Madelyn. She took our drink order and then made an excellent suggestion to enhance my selection. My son had the spicy grilled catfish with dumplings, hash brown casserole, and fries. I had my favorite CB meal, ribeye steak cooked medium with the same seasoning they use on the spicy grill catfish. Madelyn made the suggestion of grilled onions and mushrooms on top. I also had fried okra, hash brown casserole, and greens. I’ve had many steaks at CB but this was the best one ever. The excellent service and exceptional food taste made this a great dining experience. Ask for Madelyn, she’s a great server!

Bad experience again… Long wait, average waitress, and poorly cooked food. Worst of all, the manager tells me that he will comp my meal due to burnt pancakes. Instead, he tells the waitress to remove the coffee and orange juice– why? The price balances with the pancakes. Way to make a customer even madder! Thanks, Dani

UPDATE: Decided to give this place another shot. What a bad experience. Waitress was great but pancakes and manager were not. My partner got some burned pancakes. We informed the manager, Daniel, and he told us «I’m sorry I’m sorry… I’ll take care of it». Did not seem like a very managerial way to answer that. We then get our ticket, and our waitress tells us that Daniel told her to take off the drinks. The drinks?! We were surprised. We talked to manager again and he said he took off the drinks, not the meal, because that offset the price of the pancakes. Seriously? Nothing was wrong with the drinks. Just seemed like a way to save money and make a customer even angrier. If you say you’re going to take care of something… Take care of it! That’s definitely the last time I’ll go there. ORIGINALPOST: Disappointed with this location. I love Cracker Barrel but I’ve been repeatedly let down by this location. Been there 3 times and it’s something different every time. First time we were sat down and were not paid attention to for another 15 minutes. We saw the waitress attend other tables, look at us, then look away. We had to ask the host who our waitress was. I understand if the place is busy, which it was not, but at least give us an acknowledgement. Second time, we were attended to, but after we placed our order it took a while to get our food and our waitress never came back until we asked another waitress for the status of our food. When we finally got the food we had no silverware. We went months without visiting but decided to try it today. Once again disappointed. They had no chicken biscuits, bacon was burned, the hash browns that cost $ 3 were a ridiculously small portion, the coffee was atrocious. They honestly deserve 1 star but my experiences at other Cracker Barrel saves it from that.

Cracker Barrel is a family favorite for us. We love having a great breakfast selection for dinner, we always have. So tonight my sisters and I, along with our family headed out for a good family dinner. The restaurant was not overly crowded for dinner time and our table for 7 and a high chair was ready right away. I always love seating at Cracker Barrel because the nice large round tables are great when there are several of us. It makes it so much easier to hold a conversation while enjoying your food! The majority of us chose breakfast items for dinner. I ordered the Grandpa’s Country Fried breakfast. It comes with two eggs cooked any way you like with grits and I chose Hash-brown casserole and Chicken Fried Chicken with biscuits. My daughter Rhyan chose to have a salad. She picked the Fried Chicken Salad. I have included pictures of our to meals — her salad was beautiful! Not pictured are the rest of the families choices. They dug in before I could grab snaps! My Chicken Fried Chicken was great! It was moist on the inside and the gravy was perfect! My eggs were scrambled with cheese and cooked perfect, too. My hash-brown casserole was a very tiny portion and was extremely dry and tasted as if it has been reheated… several times. I also thought the biscuits were overly hard tonight and not their usual flavor. Very hard and dry. All in all it was just OK in my book. Rhyan’s salad was, as I said, beautifully presented and she said it was absolutely yummy! She had more than enough and even brought some home! I am not a huge salad fan and even I thought it looked really good! My sisters both had been craving blueberry pancakes so one had the Momma’s pancake breakfast which comes with«Three freshly made Buttermilk Pancakes with your choice of any fruit topping or a warmed bottle of 100% Pure Natural Syrup plus two eggs* cooked to order and your choice of Smoked Sausage Patties, Thick-Sliced Bacon, Turkey Sausage or Turkey Bacon.» She chose the bacon and had her eggs scrambled hard. You can substitute blueberry pancakes for the regular ones and that is what she did. My other sister just had the Blueberry pancakes. As a side note the pancakes are large and you get two as opposed to four with the Momma’s breakfast and it is much cheaper! They both enjoyed their meals and it wasn’t until we were packing up to go boxes that we noticed one of the pancakes was raw in the center. We did not complain as it was a left over anyway. My nephew is 8 and he loves to have dinner here. He chose the chicken pot pie and a side of dumplins and fro a kid who eats like a bird he almost cleaned his WHOLE plate. I was impressed! So why did I give this a 2 star… well the food seemed hit or miss tonight. Some dishes were really well executed some were just mediocre and then there was the raw pancake. I cannot say this is something that will keep me form coming back and trying again. But I can say that if the food is not better next time I will be very sad. I hate to think that a family favorite is going that far downhill. Hopefully this was a one time thing and the next time will be better, I will certainly update my review when it happens!

Poor service… poor cooking!.. the worst I have seen in any establishment… the one by the Gonzales outlet mall is way better. The waitress bought our sides out at the end of the meal. She never brought out the corn bread and biscuits. I had a similar experience the first time. The waiter never looked into our eye to see if we needed anything. Just like my second experience, they took the order then ran off. The broccoli came out uncooked and the pinto beans when prepared with no salt. Never again! Wasted my time and money.

First time at the Cracker Barrel in Baton Rouge… Take your money elsewhere. Waitresses were nice, polite, and helpful but the food was terrible. Kids hamburger was burned on top, raw on bottom, wife ordered chicken fried chicken twice and they brought chicken fried steak… twice. She gave up and ate it. I wanted pot roast but our friend ordered the last one… They did discount our check so it wasn’t that bad

I’m a very fair reviewer. Here is what happened: An almost entirely empty restaurant, and I’m wedged between the obese couple and the annoying kids playing checkers. Drink orders were taken immediately, almost by two people. Then we waited 10 minutes for our order to be taken, in an almost empty restaurant. My reuben had no steak fries, just okra which I subbed for slaw. It also had no cheese. No thanks. Cracker Barrel as a whole, I’ll always like.

Cracker Barrel definitely has something for everyone. I love the variety on their menu for both breakfast and lunch. My favorite breakfast item is without doubt the pecan pancakes. A huge portion, packed with pecans and served with warm maple syrup. I usually add crispy bacon. I also absolutely love the complimentary biscuits. You can opt to have a mix with corn muffins(which are also good), but I usually prefer all biscuits. They are served with real butter and a variety of Dickinson’s jams/preserves. Lunch and dinner options are also good — so many things to choose from. Definitely a great place to get a homestyle meal. I enjoy the hamburger steak with grilled onions and mushrooms, but also like the meatloaf, chicken and dumplings and chicken fried steak. There is an extensive selection of veggies — and my fave is without doubt the Mac and cheese. It is perfect — creamy, cheesy and baked to perfection. I’m usually too full to try out dessert, but have heard good things about the coca cola cake and strawberry shortcake. It is family friendly and very casual. Service is usually decent, but the waitresses usually seem rushed or busy. Overall, great stop and most locations are open 24 hours!

This time my boyfriend and I went to the restaurant for breakfast. I had the yogurt with granola and hash brown casserole. I was happy that they actually had it this time and it tasted wonderful. Also the yogurt was so delicious that I am still thinking about it and will order it again! The waiter was also nice and very attentive. Great job!

Bad service. I’ve been to this one and the one in Gonzales and at both locations I did not feel comfortable. It took an hour for our food to come out BOTH times. The server was awkward and rude. When we talked to the manager at both locations they did nothing. They need new management and new servers. Their food was pretty good but the service makes me not want to go back.

Apparently we went during a busy time and it was packed —10 minute wait before being seat but once seated it was its efficient self — menus of breakfast lunch and dinner. Ordered a breakfast meal — holiday sampler — 3meats of bacon, sausage patty and ham, plus 2 eggs, cornbread dressing, biscuits with gravy, grits and apple slices. The grits were too runny for my taste and it felt like I bit into a shell with my eggs. Dee was our server and she was nice, polite and responsive.

Always an awesome stop. Breakfast served all day. Shop while you wait. Some hard to get items. Food is always very good. Service is good as well. Southern home style cooking.

I enjoyed my pecan pancakes. They were yummy and crisp on the edges. The ham was salty and good. I liked the hashbrown casserole but would have liked more heat(temperature wise). It seemed room temperature. The raspberry lemonade is a MUST try. Both the turkey sausage and the regular sausage patties were dry. The grits weren’t too impressive either, waffle house does better in that dept. But still, I will def be back to cracker barrel.

Sorry, I forgot my pictures for this restaurant but the pancakes here are GREAT. I would love to rate them a little higher but there’s always a long wait to be seated. Honestly, I go there for my pancake fix. My meal was closer to cold then warm(excluding the pancakes and hash browns). Please checkout their hash browns too. The location is off the interstate so I guess it’s not to bad. The service is not that good here because they’re so packed with customers and under staffed. Multiple people/customers are looking for waiter services.

It’s a cracker barrel, what do you expect? Southern simple food and nic-nacs for the family to play with… Just ask for the apple butter and fresh cornbread and none will get hurt! And yes… leave the sweet tea. I found myself here late night when EVERYTHINGELSEINBATONROUGE… was closed. enjoy.

It took a long time to get a table setting for 7 though it was not too busy yet. The kids’ food seems fine, but both salads ordered by adults had wilted, inedible greens. Also, we had to ask three different servers for a leftover box before someone brought one to the table. Afterwards, while I took a small child back in to use the restroom, my husband sat in the car with our other four children, and witnessed a waitress performing oral sex in the car a space over. She saw him getting into our minivan with kids and then did it anyway.

Never had a satisfying meal here. The cornbread is like sawdust and the wait is always too long.

We were seated immediately and outfitted with kiddie seats. Checked on regularly by our server Maggie and the hostess. Maggie made sure our 2 year Olds meal came out before the adults because he was so hungry. It also gave us time to eat our food less distracted. I ordered the chicken and dumplings my husband the rib eye… my husband loved his dish good and hot my on the other hand suffered from sitting longer than it should have while my husband’s meal was prepared. Mine was lukewarm and had that solidified gelatin effect happening on my grits and dumpling gravy. I ate it anyway because I was starving. It tasted fine just needed to be hot. I shopped the country store and found a great gift for grandma… and Cheryl in the store rocked my world while she was assisting another customer she manager to greet everyone coming in and also took the time to make sure I was doing okay. When I asked her about a box she gift wrapped it for me. Cute yellow gingham wrapping paper a yellow bow sticker and to/from tag. Super cute! Maggie:4 stars Cheryl: 5 stars Food: 2 stars The Moon Pies I also bought at the shop– PRICELESS. I would use again for gifting before eating.

Disappointed. We drove across town to go to Cracker Barrel thinking that they would have the Thanksgiving dinner offer still going on as on the website. However this particular Restaurant did not. The wait was long even though the restaurant was not full. It seemed to lack proper staffing. Portion sizes were smaller then at other Cracker Barrel restaurants. Biscuits were not fresh and were gummy. The waitress serving us had 3 tables yet drinks were not refilled as needed and we had to request and wait for biscuits and butter long after the food was delivered to the table. Will not be returning to this Restuarant. It would be worth the drive to Hammond to get good Cracker Barrel food and service. It was also a very cold night and the fireplace was not burning. :(

Wow. I had never been to a Cracker Barrel in my life, so when we headed up to Baton Rouge for the LSU game, we made a point to stop in here. I was told that the breakfast here was amazing(and since we were there at about 8) I decided on the smokehouse breakfast. It comes with: 2 eggs, thick sliced bacon, biscuits with white gravy and grits. When I say it was amazing, I am not lying. In fact, it was SO good I went back the next day and ordered the same thing! It’s a hearty, big breakfast, but it will last you all day. I ate at 8am and didn’t get hungry again until dinner. I LOVE that. The restaurant itself wasn’t crowded at all and it’s connected to a cute store full of «old time» candy, toys, decorations and«knick knacks» that you can pick up as gifts. I am sure that I will definitely be back. I hope to be able to stop in here at least once, every time I am in Baton Rouge for an LSU game. It is the perfect«pre game» place to carb up for a long day.
