There are some experiences that can completely transform how you view basic upkeep needs like getting a haircut. Staches and Burns did this for me.
S&B is a single chair salon for men in a beautiful little space in the old customs house building in downtown Bath. Renee is awesome, and every haircut feel like a mix of hair education, wonderful conversation, and of course the actual haircut. She knows more than any barber or stylist I’ve visited, and in fact she knows more about her trade than almost any other person I’ve ever met. She shared her knowledge with wisdom and humor.
I make sure to visit every time I’m in town, even going so far as to make sure I don’t get a haircut if I’ll be home soon.
Highly, highly reccomended to anyone who wants to look great, master their own hair by learning how to best tame it, and enjoy doing it.

This is a men’s salon: strange for the midcoast Maine region. There’s only one hair cutter (Renee), and she’s always very very busy — call ahead.
Renee is a very experienced cutter, and she pays attention to detail. She’ll remember you visit to visit, and cut your hair to hide any blemish (that she can — I have huge cowlicks and she does a great job at minimizing them) and she’ll make it look like your was just cut weeks later (not length wise, but quality wise).
She has nice touches like shaving the back of the neck with a straight razor (after it’s towel warmed, and she’ll moisturize after).
The best haircuts I’ve ever had, hands down.
