Urban Style Salon & Spa

Went in with a bridal party to get a Mani and pedi. They told the bride they were experienced and would be able to do all of us quickly and efficiently despite only having one station for Mani and pedi. Unfortunately it took 4 and a half hours to do all of us and we heard that the people doing our nails were hair stylists who didn’t like doing nails very much. The Mani went pretty well, the manicurist paid very close attention to detail but mine and another girl’s nails chipped before the wedding even started. The pedi was a bit disappointing, I left with rough skin still on my heels and paint around the edges of my toes. The brides toes looked terrible too. The pedicurist dropped some sort of oil on her toes at the end which made the paint spread out and all over her skin. Now it wasn’t a terrible experience and the ladies were very nice and friendly but for almost $ 50 including tip, our nails should have looked a lot better.

I made an appointment for me and 4 bridesmaids. I went in to pick a color ahead of time only to be asked to buy my own colors, which cost me $ 15. Then one of the nail techs complained to one of my bridesmaids that the polish was dry! They also told me they’d include gratuity since it was a party, which is fine and I normally tip 20% anyway. They told me they’d get us done in a reasonable amount of time (I was hoping for 3 hours for all of us manis and pedis). That didn’t happen. Took us 4 hours. On top of that, it was clear to all of us that the two that did our nails were not seasoned nail techs (one even said she did hair). Clearly they had the training but we’re not used to doing it regularly. The person doing my toes hurt my toe by filing it too close to the skin (started bleeding a bit under the nail). She also put an oil (quick-​drying I assume…) on my toes at the end and it made all the nail polish spread all over my toes and it looked horrible! I may have to go get my toes redone tomorrow before my wedding or just call it a loss. I’m really disappointed as they came highly recommended.

Tiffany is amazing! She got it right the first time I saw her in November and I should have stuck with her! I moved to Naperville and went to a different salon closer to home — huge mistake! Tiffany is worth the drive, she is fixing the awful disaster that another salon caused. Being eco/​health conscious is a must for me, and this place is the only salon I’ll go to.

My husband, 4-​year-​old daughter and I all go here and we love it! I’ve had both Alex and Raquel cut my hair and both do a fantastic job; Alex also does my brows. My husband and daughter also go to Raquel. My husband gets massages from Toni — she’s excellent! I got one from her too while I was pregnant and it was heavenly. Pedicures are delightful and the staff are all friendly and welcoming. It’s a beautiful spot and their products are awesome. I highly recommend.

I love this salon! Only place I go to for anything I need done… hair, mani/​pedi, waxing. Alex Sosa does an amazing job on my hair. Only a few people have cut it right and she is by far the best. The staff is super friendly and amazing at what they do and very accommodating with scheduling. Highly recommend this salon. I tell everyone to go there.

In 52 years no one can cut my hair better than Alex. Friendly, comfortable, great service and wonderful people.

I just moved to the area and needed a new stylist. I am an Aveda junkie and had tried an Aveda salon in the area, but wasn’t completely sold. I decided to give Urban Style Salon a chance since they use organic products. I had such a GREAT experience. Raquel was my stylist and listened to me while adding her suggestions. I go for a cut and color every four weeks, so it is important for me to like the stylist AND the atmosphere. Both did not disappoint! My hair looks great! The owner Alex, gave me a hand massage while my color was processing and I had the most delicious latte as well. Can’t say enough good things about my experience! Will definitely return for my color touch-​up and cut every month!

After going to several cheap chains, I decided to start supporting something local and small scale. Also, I am looking for potential hair stylists for my wedding next June so it’s good for me to start looking now. Anyway, the salon is really nice on the inside. It’s called «urban style salon» for a reason. It’s really pretty & modern inside. I called at about 12:30 pm and was able to set up an appointment for 2 pm with no problem.
They use organic products and the shampoo she used smelled amazing! She also did a scalp massage in between shampoo and conditioner which was really nice. She was very attentive and talked to me but wasn’t overly chatty.
I had asked for trim & side swept bangs, but that’s not what I got. She was nearly finished and I didn’t see any bangs at all! So I asked for them again and she said she wasn’t sure what I meant. She fixed them a bit but the «bangs» I now have are kind of like grown out bangs. Oh well, it was good to get a trim. She said she was just being cautious so that she didn’t take off more than she should have. It’s fine, I needed a trim so I will just go back in a few weeks and get real bangs. Of course, I will bring a picture.
One last thing, the prices are really affordable. For a wash, blow dry & cut, it was $ 40 sans tip. Also, if you have spafinder gift certificates, you can use them there!

I just realized I’ve been going here for two years — so time for an update.
As much as I loved this place before, I love it more now. I wanted a Mako Mori cut and color (go see Pacific Rim if you don’t know what that is), and I needed it done right for a special event. My stylist not only looked at the pictures I brought, but she also watched the movie to make sure the details were right on my follow-​up visit.
Love, love, love this place. (and the prices are still great, the service fantastic and the people awesome.)
