Prairie Path Cycles

I have been to several of the bike shops in the area and the bonus to this one is that it is open on Sundays. The Bike Rack in St. Charles is not open then. Also, it’s a tad closer to us, but really not by much.
The reason why we went most recently is because my pedal fell off of my bike while I was riding. It was impossible for us to put it back on at home, so we brought it to the shop. They originally thought it would be a new crank, and called us a few days after drop off to let us know it would be $ 60 for the part. I have a terribly old, vintage bike (a Raleigh Carlton), so parts are hard to come by. Of course, I said yes, because I need my old reliable, «spare parts» (affectionately named). When we picked up the bike, it was only $ 40 and Mike had said that he was able to salvage the original part (which made me very happy).
They will always call you before doing work so that you can okay the cost. They are friendly and seem to be genuinely interested in bicycles. We will continue to return here for more service.

Always staffed with friendly, helpful, and patient employees. We stopped in yesterday and John (I think) kindly fixed my husband’s handlebars. Then, after I decided to purchase a seat, he installed it on the spot. The seat comes with a 30 day guarantee.

Fast, skillful work by friendly people. You get a work order with pricing and a call when the bike is ready. The location is convenient to the Illinois Prairie Path but even if you’re well off the path and need to drive the bike to the shop it’s worth the trip.
They put new shoes on my old Schwin, cleaned the drive train, and took the squeak out of the brakes. I’m a happy rider again!
Their pricing is reasonable with good buys on a wide variety of Treks and other brands as well. If my 40-​pound Schwinn gets to be too much for me, I’m looking at Trek!

Bought a trek madone 5.2 carbon road bike 2 years ago. Had some deterioration in the frame and trek replaced it with a 5.9. Bonus! Really appreciated both trek and prairie cycles for coming thru. Job well

My wife and I recently needed some service on our bikes. We both needed a tune up. Shortly after, my wife had a tire problem where the stem valve broke. Prairie Path was professional and prompt, just like you hope your local bike shop to be. I would recommend buying a bike here because they stand by what they sell and repair.

Honest, friendly, and selling good products. The two Mikes and Jeff are great to deal with. They are all avid bikers and know their stuff. I have bought four bikes from this store and am about to buy my fifth. Couldn’t be happier with the service and selection. If you like Trek (and why not) this is the shop to visit!

So, I have been wanting a better bike than my Schwinn, and hubby dragged me in there to just «look». The staff was friendly and showed interest in how I would be using the bike, price range etc. They had me test ride a few frame sizes and styles till I found a good fit. And of course, I bought (a Trek Verve II). Loved the bike and had a little gear rattling. They made adjustments quickly for me, but then had a little mishap on the River Path. Let’s just say I brake for scenic vistas and hubby does not, lol. So he rear ended me and broke the plastic chain guard. I took it back later that day thinking it would cost a few bucks and I would have to wait for a part, and they fixed it immediately and did not charge me! How nice…
I think I will bring them a box of cupcakes to let them know their kindness was not lost on me. I very much recommend them and even though the accessory inventory is a bit small they know their stuff and will get you whatever you need!

I have been to many bike shops, and I would rank this one low on the list. They only sell Trek bikes, and after trying several of the road bikes, the quality is just not there compared to other brands.
While I was bike shopping, the staff was not helpful at all. There were three guys just standing behind the counter chatting. You’d think that if a customer was considering making a $ 1000 purchase, then the staff would be more helpful.
Don’t waste your time here if you’re bike shopping. It might be an okay place if you just need a part.

I went in to take a look around… it’s not bad but not good — I overheard the sales folks talking to a customer and they just didn’t seem to know very much… and seemed a little pushy. Like this man said he needed to think about it (he was looking at a bike) and the sales guy wouldn’t let it go… bikes aren’t cheap, some people need time.
When I walked into the store I felt like I was in the Walmart bike department… it seemed rather unorganized inside so it was hard to focus on any one thing.
A salesperson did greet me with a hello but then I kept on getting harassed the entire time I was in there which was only 10 minutes.

Easy to rent. Super nice and great stretch of the prairie path.

I bought my mountain bike and my husband’s mountain bike at this shop. We also bought a ‘bones’ car mount, sunglasses, watter bottle holders, and a variety of accessories here. The owner and staff are knowledgeable, accommodating, and friendly.
Whenever I have friends or associates in town, I direct them here for bike rentals. They always tell me they’re treated well and have a great experience.
If you need to buy or rent a bike or bike accessories, go to this place!

I visited the site to pick up a bike for my daughter and had a very good experince with the staff, good selection of product to choose from. The staff has always been easy to work with and helpfull. I enjoyed the experience so much I returned and purchased a bicycle for my wife and we have been going out daily on short rides together. I would recomend this shop to anyone in the market for a bicycle period.

My boyfriend and I were in the market to buy new bikes and a little overwhelmed with the options. We visited Prairie Path Cycles where we worked with Ariel and the owner, both of whom were accommodating, considerate, patient and gave us a positive understanding of the various bikes. We would highly recommend buying your bike from them! Ask for Ariel — she is incredibly helpful!

I visited a number of Fox Valley bike shops but as soon as I walked into «Prairie Path», I knew I was going to purchase my next bike here. The staff was friendly and knowledgable and didn’t overwhelm me with too many choices. And I know this might sound like a little thing… but it’s a dog-​friendly shop. As I bike with my dog (he has a custom bike seat), it was important for me to know that I could stop in here with my pooch. One of the Geneva bike shops has a big sign in their window «No Dogs» and while I’m sure they have their reasons, it’s a little off-putting…didn’t even go inside. With my bike purchase, I got a $ 50 gift card and 10% off accessory purchases. When I went back to spend my gift card, the sales guy helped me pick just the right bike helmut and even though he knew I was using my gift card, he spent lots of time with me and made me feel very welcomed. Gave the dog a treat too! :-)
So go visit Mike and his staff; you’ll be glad you did!

Bought my last two Bikes from Prairie Path Cycles and couldn’t be happier with the experiance here. Deciding to move up to a road bike and seeing that they had a 2010 Madone on sale I went into the woodfield location. The first thing I really enjoy about this store is they didn’t pressure me into getting anything I didn’t want. They showed me the different road bikes and explained the differences to me. When I decided I wanted to go with the 2010 Madone Mike met me out at his Bativa location and showed me the bike. I really appreciated the amount of time he spent with me. When I was ready to pick up the bike he took well over a hour with me fitting the bike and getting me setup with shoes and clip in peddles. I also really appreciate the fact that I can come back at any time and they will adjust the bike. All in all great service.

Nice staff. We went in with some questions about tires, and you could tell they knew what they were talking about. They offered different opinions than other cycling stores in the area, so it allowed us to do some research. They were very no-​nonsense yet friendly and accommodating. We will go there in the future for our bicycling needs.
Albeit, I will say, that my husband and I are not avid bicyclers. Our version of «biking» is riding our bikes on the Prairie Path to an Batavia Creamery. Nevertheless, we ARE biking. My husband has a performance bike, and the guys at Prairie Path were able to help him.

I got a call at home tonight (that was a bit strange) from one of the owners (Mike) and I really appreciate that. He said someone had sent my comments to me and he wanted to do what he could to make things right.
