I went to Maxines to pick my Wife up some breakfast. As I got down there to pick up the order I saw blocked off streets and cops. I wasn’t sure what was going on but found a space and headed to my destination. I got around the corner and saw booths everywhere. After having gone inside I learned that the festival name is Taste of Bastrop. I thought cool to bad the wind, rain and cool weather have most people deterred. I had a few minutes to kill while waiting on our food. I looked at a couple booths close to Maxines(they had one too). I ended buying some pastries from Johnsons Bakery. It was cool they used square for payment. I bought a vanilla cupcake, mini apple pie and cream cheese turnover. The cupcake icing was sweeter than what I liked but not terribly so. My Wife enjoyed the mini pie and later the turnover. She said if the turnover had apple filling it would have been gold. My short experience tells me the festival would be a hit had the weather been better. If I didn’t have food to pick up I would have went home and got my Wife so she could enjoy it. I hooe it continues on and next time the Wife and I get to go. Good job from what I saw though.
