History

Established in 1926.

The Schulman family has a long history in entertainment. It started in 1926 when Morris Schulman moved to Bryan, Texas, and bought the Dixie and Queen Theaters. He later opened the Palace Theater, also in Bryan. As the years passed, drive-​ins and multiplexes were built, bought, and sold. Schulman Theatres remains in the family and continues today as one of the oldest movie chains in Texas still operating 4 theaters, most recently opening Lost Pines 8 in 2012.

We bowl there as it is the only alley in town. The lanes are a mess and the pin reset is a joke. In one frame we had to reset the pins 5 times as it kept dropping some. Management has no control as we witnessed people walking down the lane to get theirs kids bowl that didn’t go all the way down.

Went for Valentine’s Day special — $ 50 for dinner and movie. Dinner was awesome — soft, warm rolls, amazing chicken cordon blue for him, tasty (not overly seasoned) talapia for me– both came with potatoes, green beans and tasty lemon cream sauce. Made in house by food manager whose talents are obviously hidden and wasted. Dessert was turtle pie and red velvet cake — also yummy and presented very prettily with fruit on the side. Came from outside caterer. Movie The Kingsman was a fun way to end our non-​traditional but wonderful day. Minus one star for theater seeming to be a bit dirty.

This place deserves no star. Customer service sucks and management is even worse. The workers (at least the one that I stumbled upon) does not know what she is doing and doesn’t even say sorry after charging my card 5 times and saying that it’s declined each time. When it wasn’t she wasn’t smart enough to check her register to if there was any paper left, but dumb enough and ridiculously they said that I was lying after I showed them my bank account statement. Horrible horrible horrible. Just horrible.

We went to Bastrop, TX for a weekend getaway to go bike riding in Bastrop State Park, and simply get away from Houston. For our Friday night entertainment we decided to go to Schulman Theatres Lost Pines 8 because it was about 2.5 miles from our hotel. We passed it on our way to our hotel, and we noticed they also had indoor black light miniature golf. When we got there we decided to see a movie instead of indoor golf because the area is small, and its really meant more for small kids under six years old. We saw Gardians of the Galaxy for $ 16 for two admissions. It was a great movie, but the first two seats we chose in our theater smelled like beer. We had to switch to the row in front of us and those seats were ok. They have bowling here as well but we did not have time to participate. Overall I give them three stars for having multiple forms of entertainment, but the upkeep of the theatres could be a little bit better.

Convenient if you live in Bastrop areas. But this place needs major improvement. Restrooms are filthy. Sticky and broken doors. Needs to hire a better cleaning crews. Kids running around too much. Theaters have funny smells.

We went here this last 4th of July weekend. My wife’s family was having a reunion so we all decided to go out and bowl. I was wondering what it would be like since Bastrop is still a relatively small town. I didn’t expect much, but it was better than I would’ve thought.
I do however have to give it 3 starts because of price and quality. We paid about $ 30 just for our 2 kids to join 6 other kids on a lane, which I thought was a little pricey. This only bought us an hour and some shoes.
Also, the lane kept messing up, even with the bumpers up. I wouldn’t really complain but considering it took about 5 minutes to get a staff member over and it messed up 4 times in 1 hour I think that really watered down the value. This is especially true since I was already on the fence about paying as much.
I can’t say not to go here if your in Bastrop, it wasn’t a terrible experience at all. I just don’t think I could name it as a must go by any means.

I wasn’t expecting an all-​in-​one entertainment venue but this place is pretty cool!
You can bowl or play black light mini golf! There’s also a pool hall, full bar and snack bar along with the movie theatre itself.
We caught an afternoon showing and, it being my first time, I was super excited to see a lack of carpet in the seating rows! You know what that means, right?!? No nasty, sticky, smelly addition to your theatre experience. Yay!
Picture and sound quality were very good and the seats were so-​so.
I’m looking forward to a return trip for some bowling or mini-​golf.

Really nice complex! Complete with a bowling alley and a blacklight putt-​putt golf course (must try this!) and a pool hall! Prices are really cheap ($ 6.00) matinée but they recoup it back at the snack bar! $ 6 lg popcorn and $ 6 lg drinks! Mercy! Seats were very comfortable and roomy. The sound quality was superb! Will return!

Just watched RIO 2 and holy crap it was an ice box in the theatre! That and the Dr. Pepper was watered down. Not a bad theatre but definitely needs some better management.

Nice complex. Clean theaters and the seats are in good shape. Digital sound and projection a plus and I have yet to experience the acts of rudeness that caused others to give this theater complex poor reviews. Prices are also some of the lowest in the country for a theater that shows first run films.

I’ve gone to two different movies here. Each time another movie goer has ruined the experience. The first guy believed that everyone needed his scene by scene commentary on Taken 2. Then, there were two people sitting behind me in The Conjuring that were chewing so loudly and so grossly, that I had to leave for fear of getting something on me. Please ban food as Bastrop citizens are the lowest common denominator when it comes to humans and have no manners or dignity. I even know that I have a hatred of people and waited a few weeks after the movie was released and then went on a Thursday but the Lonestar card crowd was out in full force and I was unable to move to a seat that would give me a safe enough distance from the herd.

Pretty cool with the bar and bowling and stuff, but theaters always attract dumb teenagers and their stupid antics. I’m glad it’s back since they shut it down a year or so ago but I could definitely do without the kids all over. They stand out front and yell and cuss or they sneak in the movie and disrupt your moviegoing experience because they are dumb kids and have nothing better to do. If it weren’t for them, it would definitely be a better place, but since they are there, it’s not a place for romance or date night unless you really want to see a movie. The bowling is fun and they have bumper bowling for the kids. They also have glow in the dark puttputt which is cool.
