Description

Specialties

They say «I paint cool stuff» often on furniture and other objects of practical purpose. My Gallery houses my private collection of paintings commonly called «primitive folk» which are painted on wood or masonite-board along with functional art items like tables, chairs and bookcases. My paintings compliment Charlie Tucker’s hand-crafted metal art and Delores Leeper’s scented candles which I like to make available to you as well in an effort to support my local artists.

On the first Friday of each month, the R.A. Green Mercantile, where the Cool Stuff Gallery is located, hosts a public Reception to introduce a new artist and their work. Complimentary refreshments and wine are provided.

History

Established in 2006.

Susan Michutka began painting in 2006 and still considers herself to be an accidental artist — She began giving away her paintings in 2010 at the Bastrop 1832 Farmers’ Market as a «thank you» gift to those who donated money to help support her while she was living and working as an artist, and otherwise unemployed. In 2013, she was given the opportunity to hang her paintings in a small room in the R.A. Green Mercantile. Susan is now painting full-time and tends the Gallery on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The Gallery is open under the honor system when she is not there. Just leave your donation in the box and help yourself. Appointments are available anytime.

Business Owner

I discovered my passion to paint in 2006 while living in Austin and I do consider my self to be an accidental artist because I never intended on showing them to anybody. I have lived a gypsy lifestyle (true to my Czech roots) but have chosen Bastrop as the final destination. I continue to create vividly colorful paintings thanks to all of those who encourage me to do so and donate to my support. I have often been flattered to have my style compared to that of Grandma Moses, my paintings commonly called «primitive cool». I fancy flowers and foliage so the local landscapes feed my passion. My painted pieces live in many private homes and businesses around the world. While in Texas, I paint alot of Texas.
