For the first two years we had them, everything was cool. They sent us a letter each year with our premium, and our mortgage company paid it from escrow. That’s pretty much exactly what you want from your insurance company… After the second year, they sent us our premium, and, like Meghan C said, they couldn’t figure out what was going on with $ 10, and even threatened to cut our policy off. After the third year, our premium increased by almost 30%! We’d never made a claim, and weren’t any more risky than we’d been in the previous years. I tried calling to get someone to talk about the rate increase, but you can only get a recorded message or a self-service system. I called up our car insurance company, Progressive, and went with them. Their rates were much cheaper, for better coverage, and I could actually talk to a live person.

I cannot believe the BBB gives these people an A+. Between the threatening letter to cancel our homeowner’s policy(over a missing $ 10, which they made the error on, and thusly had to send us BACK a check for $ 10) and ridiculous rate hikes(DESPITE never, ever, filing a claim), we are so done with the company. Well, hopefully… of course you can never actually get a human being.
