VIP Barber Shop

Always a solid to the point haircut! Occasionally a bit of a wait (I would expect so on a Saturday morning) but Annie always pleasant and on point. My two boys and myself love this place, my other son goes to a high dollar rootie tootie salon, but he pays for his own haircut and prefers the hot towel treatment (good for him!).

I have been a customer for 15 years and Annie does a fantastic job. The wait is never long and the cut is always great.

New to Bartlett, needed a barber, found VIP at the top of the Unilocal reviews. It’s not too far from my new home so it made sense to give it a try.
Arrived at 4 p.m. on a Friday and I was able to sit in a barber chair right away. The woman who was cutting my hair, Annie, was extremely personable and conversation was never forced or awkward but just flew from one topic to the other with little space between. I’ve had experienced where this could be problematic and the conversation is a distracts the barber from the haircut but Annie was incredibly thorough in describing what she would be doing to my hair and why abd the results matched. When I got out of the chair about twenty minutes later my hair was prepared for the holiday weekend and when I arrived home my wife was very happy with the haircut which is the key stamp of approval.
I’ve seen knocks against the shop for not offering a shave but considering that isn’t a service the shop offers one shouldn’t be rated on that. The service VIP advertises is the service VIP provides and you can’t ask for more than that.
Considering the closeness of the shop and the experience and the quality of the cut and the price I’ll definitely return to VIP for my next haircut.

Good haircut for a good price.
Been going to VIP since I moved to Bartlett many years ago. I’m not an easy haircut due to my hair having a mind of it’s own, but Annie (and Mike before her) have consistently given me a good haircut every time.
VIP doesnt take reservations, as it’s an old-​school barbershop… walk in, grab a magazine or newspaper and wait your turn. This IS your father’s barber shop… a rare thing to find these days.
Don’t give too much thought to the overly negative review that you read here for VIP… there’s a private agenda there

I will start off by saying, very nice person she knows what’s she doing, talkative person in a good way. She asks if there is anything wrong with your hair and she will fix it for you with an open heart. Price was cheap and reasonable comparing to other barbershops. I recommend this place to anyone it’s a go to place

I have been a long-​time customer of VIP in Bartlett. I was having my haircut at the shop when Mike, the original owner was cutting hair.
Mike has retired and sold the shop.
My barber (and owner), Annie is excellent. She is efficient, provides a great cut at a reasonable price. In traditional fashion, the barbershop is characteristic of a «nostalgic» little shop. I appreciate the conversation we have and I see many friends and neighbors in the shop as well.
Saturday mornings are busy, but never a long wait. It’s best to call for an appointment if you have a tight schedule to keep. She also offers «family cuts» and «buzz cut» rates as well. I highly recommend the shop. You’ll be a customer for life!

This was my first time here. Got in with little wait and received full attention. Great experience can’t wait to become a regular.

I feel horrible… absolutely horrible writing this review and I have struggled with I even should or not but decided I have to because of the following reason…
I really love the idea of Unilocal. I travel allot for work and when I’m in a new area not knowing anyone I love that fact that I can just pick up my phone and enter some info, read some reviews and boom… I can find what I am looking for.
With that said I was looking for a Barber in my hometown. The reviews for this place as you all can see are outstanding. So I initially thought I struck GOLD! Unfortunately it was not.
I don’t want to be rude or offend anyone so I will just list what went wrong.
1. My hair was extremely uneven. I mean by a half inch or longer from one side to the other. That night one of my clients actually ask me if my head was ok because my hair was that much uneven.
2. Side burns were uneven.
3. My hair line at the back of my neck was rounded and too too high. I looked like the kid Corky from «Life Goes On»
4. There was way too much talking going on. I just felt like it took away or distracted the stylist from what she was being paid to do.
5. I asked her to thin down my sideburns and I was pretty much told to do it at home because they don’t offer a «line up»… It’s supposed to be a barber shop I don’t think that was an out of line request.
6. I asked for a shave… I was told they don’t do that there. (I’m fine with that, if it’s not a service they offer what can I do about it?!) But I was thrown off with the shop being listed as a «Barber Shop» then. Also I was told that «not that many Barber shops still shave». Of all the shops I have been to nationwide during my business travel… THIS was the first and only shop that did not offer a shave option.

I just feel that if at least one person was really honest with their review here I would of not had to make a poor decision and could of not had to get two haircuts in two days spending double on a haircut because the first one needed to be corrected and done right. $ 50 later and I’m really not happy that I feel like I was kinda fooled into thinking this place was 5 stars and as good as most people made it out to be here. So with my review please be warned.
*I ended up driving to Villa Park on a «personal» referral from a friend to a place called THE ART OF FADEZ. They did a fantastic job! I got a haircut (great repair job) and a shave for $ 20! Greatest fade I have ever had and they lined me up to precision!

went there today for the first time and will go back! a little bit of a wait on Saturday mornings, but worth the wait. Bring Annie some coffee and make her day!
very nice +40 year old local business that you won’t mind spending your twenty bucks at. Much more deserving of the money than a chain like Great Clips.

Good cuts for a great price.

I live in Bartlett so this barber shop is very conveniently located for me. Annie has known me and my husband for many years now, even before she became the owner of this fine establishment. She is very friendly and does a great job cutting hair.
She gives me trims for a pretty cheap price. I have had my fill of those salon prices and those cookie-​cutter, discount haircut places. Here, I get consistent quality while visiting with my friend, the barber. She has even cut my hair for a Locks of Love donation. I posted the video of the experience on You Tube.
After the pony tail came off, she cut my hair into a nice, simple style. Keep in mind my style is not complex. I’m low maintenance. She always does a great job.
There are usually a couple of guys waiting for a cut, and this is pretty much a walk-​in place. Some folks drive by and peek in to see how long the wait is, or walk in, leave, and come back later.
Whatever your needs, Annie is ready and so is another barber who will be happy to cut your hair for a reasonable price, without appointment. Bring cash, though (or check). They don’t have any fancy charge machines here. Current price is under $ 20.

Walked in at 12.30 on a Saturday and was seated immediately. I had a traditional buzz cut from a very pleasant, retired fella for $ 15. OK, so he didn’t really use scissors much, he used the buzzer. and he didn’t cut my eyebrows or shave my neck. But I was told it looked acceptable at home, so it works for me.

I’m sorry I won’t be getting haircuts from Annie anymore (I moved) because she’s gonna be tough to replace… I’m open to any suggestions for Plainfield… But If I get cought up in the NW burbs in the near future and I’m feeling scraggly, I will be sure to get a haircut by Annie!

Annie is the best! Best value in Bartlett. If they had foot massages I’d stay the whole day!

I wholeheartedly concur with the previous poster. Annie was the one who helped me ditch the «parted down the middle» look I’d been sporting since 1979 or so.
The prices are reasonable, the service is friendly and usually fast. What’s not to like?

After years of looking for the cheapest haircut I could find… and getting it in more ways than price, I decided that there had to be a better way than the SuperGreatCuttingClips places.
In the interest of shopping local I looked for a good old fashioned barber shop and found VIP in the heart of Bartlett. It is a little hole in the wall place in a strip mall with plenty of parking. I think a standard men’s haircut is $ 15.
When you walk in it feels like a place for men to get a hair cut rather than one of those girly salons. There is vintage paneling on the wall and classic barber chairs. This is my kind of place.
Presiding over this man-​cave is the lovely owner, Annie. When I first started coming to VIP, she was working here with the previous owner, but has since moved to the first chair.
The great thing about Annie is that you are more than just another faceless customer to her. She always remembers me and my «usual» haircut including all the oddities of my unruly hair.
Even though I have described VIP as a man place, my wife likes to come here for a quick trim because she appreciates the no nonsense atmosphere and the reasonable price. It doesn’t make sense for her to pay salon prices when all she wants is to straighten up her ends.
VIP does not take credit cards. Go to the ATM and get yourself a $ 20 bill to pay for your haircut. I do like the convenience of credit cards, but I also understand that the overhead they charge can be significant to small businesses.
I have been coming to Annie at VIP for several years and I hope to continue this relationship for many more. I couldn’t bring myself to go back to the corporate places. I encourage everyone to give VIP a try. It is worth the money.
