Attitash Mountain Recreation Area

My fiancé and I went on the Zip Tour ($ 70 pp) which was fun since neither of us have went ziplining before, but I wish they were able to take photos of you on the actual zipline that you could purchase afterwards. They offer Go Pro cameras for rental, which is not what we wanted. Most of the staff was friendly but some completely lacked customer service skills, like the young employees who strapped us in on our 2^nd zipline and basically ignored us as they continued to gossip the entire time we waited for the other two zipliners in front of us to finish and get to the other side. In any case, views are great as you’re ziplining through the mountains, especially during foliage.
The other activities in the park were very kiddish but we went to them anyway. The alpine slide and mountain coaster were actually fun for an adult to try. Obviously they are proven to be safe but I didn’t feel entirely stable on either since they seem to be older rides. The airbag jump is fun for both adults and kids who can actually do it correctly and not land on their face like me; my fiancé enjoyed it though.

Love this place. Ever since I was a little kid I’ve came here during the summer. They’ve added so much over the years including a Mountain coaster, Sidewinder water slide, and more. The constant that has always been has been the alpine slides. I remember when the lift to the slides was the old red machine and while slow, it got you there. Quite a while back they upgraded to the flying yankee machine which can seat more and is much faster. The alpine slides… my one and only complaint about them is that they used to be ALL concrete and much faster as were the sleds. Back in the day, you went like the wind because with the concrete and the looser sleds, there was less rolling resistance and less friction. As the concrete ages and cracks, they’ve been replacing it with slow plastic track. People used to never get stuck in what we call «the flats» when it was concrete. I wish they would make it all concrete again like it was in my childhood, but like with everything else cost and maintenance will keep them from doing so. I’ll stop reminiscing now.

Yup. 2 stars is the best I can do. This place has the potential to be great, but the management tries to go cheap on the number of staff. At $ 49 per person over 48″ tall, families expect much more than you’re delivering. The wait lines take soooo long, even though they’re actually short. Why? Because each ride runs people through soooo slowwwwly. Seriously, I kept thinking this should be half price. I felt like I was paying full price for a half-​service/​ride kind of day. And you can tell its New Hampshire, folks, because the business up here relies on the captive-​market concept of customer service, i.e., we don’t bother teaching our employees that service with a smile is important, because we know you have to come here anyway. In a week it’s been the first thing we’ve felt was a ripoff. I really wouldn’t come back if I can keep the kids busy doing other things.

So the zipline is super fun, totally would give more stars if that’s the only thing we did AND if it wasn’t so expensive at $ 70 per person. If we could have done the zipline twice or more, I could understand the price. But you know what? It was my first time on a zipline and it was super fricking fun, so I’m cool with it. The chairlift ride up to the top is stunning, don’t forget to turn around and look behind you.
The rest of the park is alright, but I disappointingly learned you can’t go on the water slide with shorts, only with a bathing suit.
The alpine slide was fun but the the slide I chose seemed very slow compared to the other. Not sure if it just needs a waxing or what, but if you go in the near future, go on the left side.
Mountain coaster was fun too, happy I did it.

We opted to do the alpine slide again this year. We were going to do the new zip line but the price is 70.00 pp. Not reasonable for a family of four. The other rides are great. It wasn’t to busy there this early July. No lines, no waiting.

Planned a romantic get away to NH for my sweetheart who has never been. I had a few activities to highlight our trip and the alpine slides at Attitash was one of them. I chose Attitash because they boast the longest slide in NE and it was on the way to Mt. Washington. While the slide was fun, the reason for low stars is the staff needs some serious redirection in customer service, and the ownership at Attitash should really question what they want their name and reputation to stand for. The slides should have opened at 10:00 am on this Sunday. We arrived at 11:00 am, had a short ticket wait (and the ticket lady was super) we were told there was a delay in opening the slides, but was expected to open any minute. We waited at bottom of mountain for 40 minutes while empty lifts went up. There is a lack of cohesion with employees. At one point at top of slide we listened as one employee drying the second slide (it’s 11:30, it should have done before opening) was antagonized by the other employee, sending the people down the slide. The same employee made a point to disagree with my boyfriend, in a very condescending manner, about something my boyfriend said to me as a joke. The 2^nd slide was not operating. We were all in a line now at the top of mountain waiting to go. There was no «all clear» Just let one go wait a minute, let another go. It runs the risk of a pile up. The slides are great, the lift ride up was great, the price is fair… but staff cohesion, and a feeling of safety, friendly manner, completely lacking. I hope they make some improvements, in the mean time I would find another place with better reviews.

We rented a couple of XC mountain bikes from them. The bikes were poorly tuned, didn’t want to shift correctly. The «trails» they sent us down were flat and boring.

Never again. After years of enjoying the alpine slide, I will not be returning. I came on a not-​so-​busy Thursday in July. There wasn’t much of a line at all. After about ten minutes, I realizes that the line wasn’t moving… at all! In addition, three out of every chair was empty and only one out of five had people in it. One out of five was used to carry the carts.
In past years, they would alternate carts and people, filling every chair. So what was the problem?
One employee revealed to me that only about 70 of the 260 carts are operational. Wait, what? This place isn’t cheap. They charge $ 45 for the all-​day pass. We were only able to get three runs (about 24 minutes of actual riding time) in four hours before we got tired of standing in line.
Luckily, the weather was cool. If it hadn’t been, I would have quit sooner.
It’s just not worth it, especially for a large family.

Attitash is such a great mountain no matter what time of year. I learned how to ski here and it definitely is challenging. but fun. The views from the summit are amazing its just so pretty. There’s so much to do during the summer as well. They have a somewhat new mountain coaster, apline slides, water slides, outdoor festivals, biking. just about everything for any age. Attitsash is great for families or just to go with friends, no matter who you go with you will be sure to have a fun time.

This is our second time bringing the kids to Attitash to ski/​snowboard. We have enjoyed our visits. Suzy at the front desk has always been helpful and welcoming. My instructor, Bill, has made my ski experience always better than the last. My kids have enjoyed their experiences and are looking forward to coming back. I am a novice, so I cannot offer much comparison to other places, but this place has not let me down.

Very organized when ticket purchasing and renting gear. Pleasant staff.
However, the grooming was terrible. Open «groomed» trails were just short of being ice skating quality ice. The labels for open and closed trails were terrible. The available trails are posted ridiculously high behind some plastic case with glare in the lodges and were not marked at the lifts. On the trails themselves, it was ambiguous… This resulted in my entering «closed» trails by accident as well as getting to the top of a lift… Only to find that my intended trail was only partially open or not open.
It would also be nice if they provided a shuttle to their sister site at Wildcat as the pass allows for skiing at both.

A fun little activity park with mountain water slides, a mountain coaster, splashpad and plenty of MTB to keep you entertained when you’re not on the slopes.
It’s clean and there is plenty of parking. Don’t forget to use the under pass rather than cross the road. :-)

I don’t ski, so this review is for their little summer, «we got to do this because we own a mountain and there’s no damn snow» attraction and it’s not good.
There is a chairlift that goes to the top of the mountain which will give you a view of whatever you would see from the top of any other mountain. There are water slides which I don’t do, a climbing wall that isn’t a challenge and the Alpine Slides. There’s not much else really. The Alpine Slides are fun, but the wait for them (and the climbing wall) is ridiculous. Then god forbid you get stuck by a kid (and there are a lot of them here) who is to afraid to go more than 3 feet per minute and you’re in for the most annoying ride of your life. I literally have stopped it, gotten off, and switched to the other side in that situation.
The first time there, when we bought tickets, I did the closest thing i ever had to a spit take, while drinking and laughing when I saw the sign that said $ 45. Yeah you read that right, 45 buckarinos to access a ski lift, climbing wall, and the slides with a few kiddie slides and a pool. For a dollar more I could go to Six Flags, it’s 13 dollars more than Canobie and closes 4 hours before either of those places. We got the discounted tickets for the afternoon only, still a ripoff at 30 bucks for 3 hours and spent the majority of the time riding the lift up and standing in line behind those damned kids again. 3 hours there and we got 4 rides in during that time that must have equaled a whopping 10 minutes of actually doing anything fun.
For anyone with brain damage, you can fork over $ 15 to ride the Alpine Slide, once. Yes, just once. The slides are fun when you actually get to them which is why it’s not just one star.
Off all the things I have been to in the White Mountains this thing is the biggest P. T Barnum, bring the suckers in and grab their money attraction I’ve seen on either side of the Kank. I’m almost ashamed it’s in my state. Do yourself a favor and spend your money (and a lot less of it) on something Lost River or the Cog Railway if you want to get up to one of the higher peaks. There is nothing to do here but wait in lines and regret your decision for coming.

Their «adventure» park is absolute nonsense and the biggest waste of money.
Expect to wait in line for 25 – 35 min per activity. And they only have four of them anyways.
The people working are fairly inept which is why the lines are so long. Mountain coaster gets stuck and you end up waiting for one of the fools to get it started. No refunds even if their rides are closed or don’t work.
Go to Cranmore, more activities and a better deal.

I went here for the first time after/​during the unofficial blizzard of 2013. At first I couldn’t believe my eyes: a slow-​speed triple to the top? The first time I got in line I was in the singles line (come here often?) and I asked a group if they were 3… indeed they were so I joined them. Or at least I tried. The poor girl thought I was going to sit on her lap. It didn’t occur to me that the lift was only a triple.
Anyway, I quickly realized that the slow-​speed triple was a good thing on a big Pow day because no one’s doing 20 runs in knee-​deep snow. It’s fun, but also leg-​burning. In other words, if the lift were faster, your day would be over that much quicker. I appreciated the slightly longer rests in between runs. If you can’t understand this mentality, than you’re a sad-​sap eastern skier who has never had the good fortune (or good sense to drive up to North Conway before a blizzard) to catch a fresh foot of snow.
Bear Peak has a high speed quad to the top, but the lines are longer. Also, the top was wind-​swept and icy even after 15″ of snow. So after a few runs I went back to Attitash.
Overall, it was a great first day of the year for me. People were nice, and there were no New Yorkers who thought skiing was a full-​contact sport.

This is a review for the summer months.
I like to come here and go on the scenic chairlift ride. Its slow so make sure you pee first!
Anyway, my husband asked me to marry him at the top of bear peak after we got off the chairlift ride. So I really like it here!
The alpine slides have been updated since I went last. They are really really dangerous… so much so that it is quite humorous! I think they must have had to change them for safety reasons! I will update after!
so, I would recommend getting the full day pass and just doing everything once. They have some water slides and stuff that Ive never done, but thats ok. It’s on my to-​do list for this summer

I’ve been to Attitash so many times over the years with my family. As I type this, I’m in a lovely condo at Attitash enjoying their fall views.
Condos/​housing is a little dated (think 1980 updated in 1995 – 8 or so) but it’s clean and nice.
The trails were plentiful and provide enough variety for those who have been skiing for a while and those who haven’t. Except if they can’t get out of the way of the chairlift apparently… And I’ll admit I’ve been wacked many a time by a chairlift but I won’t hate on the ski area for it. Attitash is nice because it doesn’t really cater to the people who can’t ski. I like Shawnee Peak or Blue Hills or Nashoba Valley with my newbie skier friends.

My thoughts on Attitash:
1) Stupid name. It sounds like something you would bring to a business meeting. «Draper, you forgot your attitash in Sterling’s office.» Apparently it actually means «blueberry» in Abenaki. Lame.
2) It was expensive. $ 55 for a half-​day lift ticket. I had to get that kind, because the human body is not meant to fall down repeatedly for a full day.
3) I took a bad spill at one point and while I rested in the snow wondering why I wasn’t somewhere warmer drinking a hot toddy, this little 7-​year old raced by and yelled «woo-​hoo!» I saw him later and had a snowball all packed to throw at his face, but then his parents came by.
4) The «greens» were a little difficult for a beginner. Keep in mind that I’m so bad that once when I was getting off a lift, I couldn’t ski away fast enough and the lift hit me in the ass, which caused me to fall down and also take down one of my friends.
5) The trails were pretty icy.
6) No music on the slopes.
7) And the bar didn’t look fun.
