Specialties

Gravity specializes in wine flight pairings… You get four ¼ full glasses of wine (yes, totaling one full glass). Each white wine comes paired with a delecious cheese and crackers! All of this is on a flight tray that you can take to your seat.

We have lots of seating indoors and outdoors overlooking the lake and vineyards.

From June-​September we have live music from 5:00 — 8:00 on Friday nights and 2:00 — 5:00 Sunday afternoons.

History

Established in 2011.

We have been wine grape growers since 1997, selling our grapes to other local wineries. During that time we learned to make wine ourselves and in 2011 we opened our tasting room to the public.

We grow over 30 acres of wine grapes, and currently produce 12 different wines.

Business Owner

Rockie grew up on an apple and peach farm here in SW Michigan. After going to college to study marketing, he came back to the area, purchased a small piece of property and planted his first grape vines. Since then his vineyard has grown from 5 acres to 30 acres and he continues to hone is wine making skills to deliver excellent Michigan wines!

Rockie and his wife Allison are the sole owners of Gravity. They have one daughter (Dylan) who was born on opening weekend in October 2011!

The atmosphere is really nice and the scenery is good. We came on a Friday night and there were 2 guitar players that were pretty good. Unfortunately the wine wasn’t anything spectacular and the price just quite didn’t make sense.

There is an earlier review that refers to this place as grape juice and vinegar. I couldn’t agree more.
I loved the concept here flights and cheese? Awesome! Our server did give my brother and I extra cheese but had some cross contamination issues with using the same tongs to pull out the cheese as the wheat crackers. Sad face.
Anyway, I did not like any of the wines. The ambience was great, but the wines were ick… Yes, I will use a child’s word. They were all very very tart and not full bodied.
We then asked for tastings of the cider which tasted like dawn soap. We told her how bad it was and She told us ‘I thought it looked weird’ which made me question why she served it to us anyway.
All In all, I wouldn’t go back.

Visited this week for the first time while vacationing in SW Michigan. Beautiful area and personable staff. Tastings were $ 11 for four samples (larger than most others in my opinion) with accompanying cheeses and crackers. My wife and I each got a flight so we could sample eight total. Our favorites were the Traminette, Vacation Vino (a Merlot blush), and the Cab Sauv/​Syrah blend. Great deals when buying multiple bottles, but reds were pricy.

Gorgeous location. Really beautiful grounds to enjoy.
This was our first stop of three wineries. It was the most beautiful location, but offered the worst wines.
I referred to it, instead of a winery, as a «grape juicery and vinegary.»
The blueberry tasted like perfume.
My thing about wine is that you should drink what you like. If it’s inexpensive or tastes like Capri Sun and you like it — DRINK UP!
This place has great reviews and I hope they continue to be successful.
Their wines just weren’t to my taste.

A long-​time customer of Gravity Winery! I regularly go there for special events, tours, or generally just to stop by and chat and say, «hi»! The staff is amazing (Heather is always on the mark with her recommendations and comments on the wines and ciders. I absolutely love this place, by far my favorite local winery and I can’t wait to go back again!
I have been to so many wineries, tasted so many wines in my life that I somewhat consider myself a bit of a wine connoisseur. I am by no means a professional sommelier, but I do feel I have enough experience to speak intelligently on wines.
I can say, that without a doubt, Ollies White is my FAVORITE wine in the world! It’s on the sweet side, but it’s perfect for sipping and refreshing yourself on a hot summer day.

I went here last fall and fell in love with this place. The wine was good and the patio and view picturesque. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. After leaving we said this place would be our first choice for our next visit. Flash forward to my spring trip and bringing a friend to have the same great experience I had the first time. I have to say… what a huge disappointment. The staff that was there was not friendly and welcoming like last time. My party ended up buying two cases of wine plus some bottles and spent about $ 400. The person ringing us up didn’t know what she was doing and overcharged us. The bad thing is she charged my debit card then credited it and then charged again. Now I have to wait to have my money released from the bank which can be inconvenient. As we were leaving I asked for a cracker or a piece of cheese to take my medication. They wouldn’t give it to me. They looked at each other like I was asking to rob the place. Sorry I asked but most tasting rooms have a cracker for you. She did tell me I could purchase something. Gee thanks for the hospitality after spending all that money. We all walked out and said «Guess we won’t be coming back here».
Save yourself the trouble. There are so many other places in the area so avoiding Gravity shouldn’t be hard!

This is where we received the best service during our whole trip. Gravity would appear to be a newer winery for the area. The wine tasting room is much newer looking that several of the others in the area. Gravity does tastings with food pairings so it is a different approach than the other wineries. The wine was very good and they offer an above average discount on case sales. Again, thank you for the awesome service.

You know when you meet a gorgeous girl but when she opens her mouth, you just wanna hit the road? As much as it hurts to say, I feel this way about Gravity. I had such high expectations for Gravity and they all fell through.
Walking up to the vineyard is gorgeous. Sitting on the patio is literally the most beautiful spot out of all the 7 vineyards in the area I’ve been to. It is so serene and peaceful, a totally different vibe than the poppin’ Round Barn.
This place is more on the affordable side with the $ 11 tasting that includes 4 wines, crackers and cheeses. They also don’t give you a commemorative glass which is great. I have way too many little trinkets from all the Michigan tastings.
The problem lies with the actual wines. My husband and I tried 8 different ones between the 2 of us and every single red was pretty bad. Like the worst of all the reds we tasted the entire day. It sucks because you want to like Gravity. It’s so pretty and people are so perky, but it’s a winery, not a park. Perhaps this is is more of a place for white wine drinkers? Idk. I just can’t take a place seriously if they’re not serious about reds.

Really cool winery.
I chose to visit this winery on my recent visit to the Lake Michigan Wine Trail based on the name. I figured it would have a modern feel. I was right! This winery is located on a big pond and has a nice modern interior and a beautiful exterior.
The employees here were very very passionate about the wines and really made it a nice experience. With your wine tastings, you also get cheeses and crackers, which is a nice touch! Gravity is a nice break from the typical older wineries in this area!

Beautiful building and patio is the best part of this place. Only way to do tasting is a flight of 4 tastes for $ 11. Come on people, because they put them on a little painted black board doesn’t make it awesome. That’s $ 2.75 per taste! We’ve been to dozens of Michigan wineries and never paid so much. Don’t get too excited about the two tiny cubes of cheese and two crackers. Should get more for $ 11. We don’t enjoy this type of fast talking pushy winery. We like to meet the people, taste and learn about the wines. Then buy. We tried two dry whites and the merlot and another red. None good enough to spend the money on a bottle. If you go, just buy a glass and enjoy it on their pretty patio, then move on. Try Karma Vista in Watervliet.

During our bachelorette extravaganza weekend this was one of our stops. I had never been there before but several of the other girls in our group had been. We walked in and got spots at the bar rights away. When wine tasting there you choose four wines to try. They pour your four tastings with two samples of cheese and two samples of crackers. I really like their white wines and even bought a bottle of Ollie’s White to take home. I didn’t think you could beat their wine prices. If you buy two bottles you get $ 5 off. Since I bought a bottle and my sister did too our two bottles of wine came to $ 15. I thought that was a pretty good deal. You also can’t beat a place that has a resident dog!

I was the most excited to visit this winery as it looked like it had a beautiful deck and an awesome view. And it did! The $ 11 flight they offer is a pretty good deal as you get to choose 4 wines that you taste first and then they also give you samples of crackers and/​or cheese that are to be tasted along with the wines. I was able to try a sampling of their ciders as well.
The winery itself was beautiful inside and out. I really liked the outside deck area, which was really spacious, where you can enjoy your wine samples. Ollie, the winery dog, was also hanging out greeting visitors.
However, even though the winery was pretty, I was disappointed in the sweet wines they had to offer. I’m more of a sweet wine-​o at heart, so my reviews are mainly about that. The sweet wines they offered were not as sweet as I expected. (The sweet wines had between 2 – 6.5% sugar, which I think now I need about 7% to like it.) I think I liked the cheese and crackers the most.

This place looked awesome from the second we pulled up. The owners’ dog Ollie was greeting the busses and just looked so cute. We were ushered into their «wedding tent» for our tasting, as was 1 other group. They also provide little plates of crackers and that was the only place that did that for us. The tasting went well, the servers were friendly and it was cool to be outside and right next to the vineyard. We then headed inside for a bathroom break and went out to the patio. It was a gorgeous day and we would have liked to sit longer and do some drinking out there but we had to make our next stop on our wine tour. Our guide did take our picture and she said she was going to post it on their Facebook, but I haven’t seen it up yet. Hopefully she does, I would love to see it!

I enjoyed the overall experience here. We even bought a few bottles of wine and enjoyed them at home while sober. I was pretty drunk walking in here. The staff is pretty overwhelmed here. They said they were short staffed this day. I hope that’s true and they aren’t always this chaotic.
The tasting is kinda pricey for the area. I guess because you get «pairings». My pairings ended up being a few small pieces of chocolate and some oyster crackers. It’s unique though. Definitely worth a stop.

How many wineries can pop up in this area? Gravity was new to me, so when I came out to visit a friend in Bridgman, I suggested we go.
On a nice fall Saturday, the place was jammed. It has a hipper vibe than some places (leaning toward younger people, though some of the imbibers out getting looped on the patio were *definitely* old enough to know better…)
For $ 10 you get a tasting of four wines paired with cheese or chocolate. My favorites were the Pinot Noir Rose Bubbly and the Ollie’s White (their biggest seller, apparently).
Since it was a nice day we could sit out on the porch and relax, but if it’s always this crowded what do they do when the weather’s bad?
After a few glasses you might feel lighter than air, but at some point you’ll have to come back to earth. With all its popularity, it seems safe to say that Gravity has settled securely here. Definitely worth a stop if you’re checking out the SW Michigan wine trail.

A cool, more modern winery that opened in 2011.
During our quick tour, we visited three wineries — Round Barn, Tabor Hill and Gravity. Round Barn had better wine, but Gravity was a fun place to visit. (Skip Tabor Hill.)
For $ 10, you select four wines. Each wine comes with a corresponding chocolate (for reds) or cheese (for white). If you’re like my girlfriend, you pick your wines based on the chocolate or cheese pairing. She’s sophisticated like that.
All the employees here were super-​welcoming. They opened the door for us, brought us water and cheerfully offered suggestions and recommendations.
Once you make your selections on a paper list, they start assembling your custom tasting. Your wooden tray is numbered with places for each glass and each chocolate or cheese. This allows you to refer back to your list so you remember which thing you’re drinking/​eating. It’s a cool way to sample and the pairings were spot-​on.
Gravity features a large outdoor patio where you can sit out and enjoy the view. A musician showed up toward the end of our visit and started playing some tunes.
In general, I thought the wines were kind of awful. Vacation Vino, a $ 12 merlot blush, was probably my favorite. But on the plus side, many of their labels are very cool. They have one with a triceratops and one with Mr. Spock wearing glasses. Kooky!
Gravity is an awesome stop for a younger wine drinker. You’re not going to find the stuffy atmosphere of a «fancy» winery, but you will have fun.
