With two dining options: Max’s Tavern — gastro bistro a la carte menu or the Formal Dining room with a 3 course pre fix menu. Walk on in for Max’s Tavern or make a reservation for the Formal Dining room.

History
Established in 1978.
Will Dodson, owner and chef, graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and was named one of Food and Wine magazine’s 10 best young chefs of 1992. Chef Dodson previously co-owned and operated two restaurants (Frascati Restaurant and Élan Vital Restaurant) San Francisco, CA. Named top 10 undiscovered chefs in 1996 by SF Chronicle. The Barnard Inn Restaurant & Max’s Tavern is Vermont’s best kept secret. The restaurant is located in a 1796 colonial château just 7 miles north of Woodstock, VT on Route 12 and a mile from Silver Lake State Park in Barnard, VT.
An intimate and outstanding location for your Vermont wedding, nestled amongst the established perennial beds, vegetable gardens and the rolling hills of Barnard, VT. No noise curfew is a plus!
During the warmer seasons we can accommodate up to 250 guests. We specialize in cozy smaller intimate weddings during the winter inside.

Previously co-owner and chef of Frascati restaurant and Élan Vital Restaurant, San Francisco. Élan Vital «best neighborhood restaurant in SF 1996» SF Examiner. Will Dodson named «top 10 undiscovered Chefs» in Northern California 1998, SF Examiner. Will lives in Barnard with his wife and 5 children.
