Man I love this place. It has fabulous coffee and a great atmosphere. After tubing at hawks nest we headed over with our 4 kids for warm (hot is bad according to kids) cocoa and coffee for mom and dad.

Absolutely loved this place when I came up for my ski trip! There is such a relaxing vibe when you walk in and they literally made me the best chai tea latte I’ve ever had. I’m a coffee shop girl and this is one of the top shops I’ve experienced. Definitely recommend going to anyone who is near the Grandfather Mountain area.

Great coffee and amazing cookies made locally! We were so delighted to find this wonderful coffee shop! If we lived close by, it would be habit forming! At least we were able to bring some great Sumatra coffee beans home with us!

Fair prices. Fast service. And OMG the chai really is amazing. This one is worth the stop. The baked goods are delicious. The décor is relaxing. They even have cute t-​shirts and clean restrooms. Grab and go or sit a spell. Yummy stuff here.

This is one of the best if not the best coffee shops in the area! Coffees are very fresh and as a regular all of the staff knows my usual preferred drink. The Skinny White Mocha is amazing. The atmosphere Including the seating is comfortable. Overall this place brings it with the best of them. I highly recommend! They also have a variety of morning treats available as well.

I’ve been on the hunt over a couple of different states for the best Chai and I have to say that this place makes the top 2! So delicious, with really good foam on top. If I wasn’t an out of state customer id definitely return!
Also, as for the atmosphere of the place, it’s so cozy with big comfy chairs. I could stay here for hours!

Although the coffee was amazing, the service was not. The blonde girl at the front counter was rude to my entire family, she seems absolutely miserable to be at work. Everyone has a bad day, but you’re in the service industry, at least smile. We will not be back.

I’ve been coming here for years every time I’m in the High Country. Great coffee, friendly owners, perfect location and cozy atmosphere.

Third time going here, third time of the same grouchy Barista who looks pained to even acknowledge a customer. Good coffee but the a.m. customer service will make this my last stop.

Excellent people and excellent coffee. I love the java chip frappé. Hits the spot everytime! I also love the local gifts for sale and all of the board games for the kids to play. High quality stop!

I love this place! The owner is very friendly and helpful. She has a variety of coffee — decaf, flavored, light, medium, dark toast — to please every palate. And she has a GREAT loose leaf tea selection. It’s always steeped perfectly at the perfect temperature. Try the earl grey lavender or hyson green tea. She also had recently started carrying a few gluten free goodies.

Visited the area from Florida & stumbled upon this great local coffee shop. We enjoyed a wonderful latte & tasty treats from the bakery case. Owner was a delight to chat with & suggested some fun local activities for our family. Enjoyed it so much we went back before our long trip home.

We stopped in while visiting from Florida. The atmosphere was nice and the coffee was good. We also spoke to the owner a few minutes she was very kind and helpful. The owner told us she had owned the place for five years after retiring. It was nice to go to a locally owned coffeeshop.

The ambience is very relaxing. There are armchairs and couches everywhere and there is a pretty wide selection of reading material. They have puzzles and board games to entertain you while enjoying your coffee which I thought was pretty creative. Their baked goods are amazing! I had an asiago cheese bagel and it was hands down the best bagel I’ve ever eaten. I got a vanilla iced cappuccino, and it was okay… I could hardly taste the vanilla flavoring. My husband got an salted caramel iced cappuccino as it was really good. Overall, I really liked it… but I would try a different beverage next time.

Very nice coffee house. Comfortable seating and excellent coffee with free wifi. Can’t beat it in the area.

With treats from Stick Boy Bakery in Boone and self serve coffee, Mountain Grounds Coffee deserves a solid 4 stars.
This shop is very clean and commercial-​feeling but employs really personable baristas, giving coffee lovers a more homey and intimate experience.
What impresses me is the amount of loose leaf teas they have available along with their yummy drip coffees and coffee drinks. They are beautifully displayed against a wall facing a gas fireplace and cozy chairs. They’ve also have a small collection of used books for $ 5/​each.
I’m drinking the Kona blend with too much cream (as usual) and noshing on a chocolate chip muffin. They are delicious together!
Also, they have a special coffee called Banana Split with the flavors of banana, chocolate, hazelnut, cherries, and french vanilla every Friday. I declined after smelling the concoction (it really does have the scent of all those things!) but the barista said it was back by popular demand!
This joint is perfect for an early stop on the way to Sugar or Beech Mountain for some skiing/​boarding because its on the way for both if you are coming from Boone/​HW 105.
