Ipanema Bar & Grill

After reading the reviews I had to try this place. Food was ok. Not great. Not that impressive of a menu. I had the Kingston quesadilla. It was ok. Bartender was really nice though.

Went for our anniversary dinner with my wife. She had the Kingston quesadilla while I had the Barbados burrito. Both were to feature jerk chicken. The quesadilla barely had any chicken inside. Both lacked jerk seasoning that we sought. My burrito was to have coconut flavored rice. It was very plain. Reading what is inside the burrito I was expecting bursts of flavor.
Having grown up in Bangor we were familiar with the element that sometimes lingers outside the area. That was definitely a distraction from our window table — even with the plaza under construction and no places to sit and congregate, a large group of misfits still sat on the low-​cut curbs staring in at us.
Service was good, but we were the only patrons at 6 pm on a Saturday…

Rat toes were the star menu item… the pork quesadillas were delish as well. Yum.

Chill lounge, Nice lighting and great bands play here!

Neat place! Attached to the Rev Noble’s, the Caribbean-​themed downstairs is definitely louder on the weekends. Acoustics are not great for live bands that play, and the sound tends to get sloppy from echoes in the narrow structure of the room. The drinks are good, and food is unique, in a good way. Yes, it’s a standard bar menu, but with slight twists — for example, instead of a regular quesadilla, their jerk-​chicken quesadilla with mango salsa is AMAZING and stands apart from your avg. pub fare.

Great food try the Rat Toes, Deep fried guada stuffed jalapeños wrapped in bacon

seasonal outdoor seating is great but we prefer to go at lunch time when it isn’t drunk amateur hour. rowdy smokers in the outdoor seating area make it a no go for us at night (yes there is no smoking but they just stand right at the fence and lean over). food is good and beer choices are plenty. the pub across the street has a better atmosphere in my opinion.

The wife and I met some friends here Thanksgiving night and had a fantastic time. Only the bar was open, so I can’t speak to the food (though I hear it’s good), but we had friendly, attentive, awesome service all night. Both people working that night were quick with the drinks and refills, gave us awesome suggestions all night (helpful when the bottled beer list numbers over 100 varieties), and were a lot of fun to talk with. I’m sure it helped that were probably the only people in there for most of the night, but still, it was a great experience and we’re likely to pop by again when we’re in town. Exactly the sort of place we were looking for to enjoy some adult beverages and catch up with old friends.

So, the wife and I were looking for a place to go to that was going to be able to give us the luxury of sitting outside in the sunshine and also served good, delicious food.
I don’t think that a lot of people would place the title of a good food place with Ipanemas/​Reverand Noble but this place was great.
We sat outside and had a refreshing drink and had the coconut shrimp to start with and it was cooked perfectly. They were just crispy enough with a mile rach type of dipping sauce and it came with 6 jumbo shrimp for 1o bucks.
We then ordered our food. My wife dove into the fish tacos that were covered in sauteed onions and had just enough spice to give it some delicious and amazing flavor. I ordered the bacon beef burger that was topped with a fried egg.
This was a good mix of great food and good atmosphere.
The only reason that I didn’t give this place 5 stars was the waitress that was working, abviously tired and hung over from the night before, was lack luster and was not atentive but good enough not to ruin the experience.
If you want a good bite, go during the day outside of nighttime bar hopping time.
