Courtyard Bangor

This is a great place to stay, it’s very clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was quiet and pretty. We were able to get something to eat right in the hotel. My kids loved the pool and overall we had a great stay!

For ADHD readers: if you’re visiting Bangor, ME, Courtyard Marriott is a fantastic place to stay at. I agree with the great reviews above. It’s not a ROYAL SUITE at some upscale luxurious hotel made of gold in Dubai or Europe or Istanbul. But to a normal blue/​white collar person in the US, it deserves 5 stars.

Marriott became an excellent brand because of the interesting history. J.W. Marriott was a mormon dude from Ogden Utah. He visited San Francisco and later New England in 1930’s. He initially established a root beer stand in D.C. during a hot summer. And later opened the first Marriott hotel in Arlington, VA. Travel makes a human being smarter and able to capture moments others wouldn’t pay attention to.
Other than Vegas, hotels in large cities can be over-​consumed, rusty, out of shape and much smaller than in suburbs or smaller cities. This branch in Bangor is wonderfully located off the highway 95, but far enough to provide a quiet and nicely silent good night sleep. Weather was gloomy and rainy outside which probably added a touch of a cozier atmosphere inside.
Facilities are just perfect! Super clean, highly organized, beautifully decorated from head to toe. Lobby, bar, restaurant areas are very tidy and engineered to perfection! Restaurant is open 5 – 9 pm and bar till 11 pm. Breakfast until 9:30 am weekdays and 10 am on weekends. Ordered egg and cheese croissant sandwich, as in the photo below, it was very tasty and served with complementary small fruits.
The rooms are spacious, amazingly decorated and lighted. My favorite is the gorgeous comfy chair/​couch. Bathtubs have a seat opposite to the shower direction. You can stand or have a seat and enjoy a hot shower. Indoors swimming pool, gym, laundry all are on first floor and they looked brand new. Staff were super friendly and helpful. I accidentally booked another date and they were able to fix it to the current date without any charge! You can detect a fake forced smile from a genuine congenital one.

Location-​wise, you probably won’t be impressed. Mostly dealerships and the sad mall nearby. However, it’s not a far drive to Mt. Desert and Camden Hills.

Spacious, sleek and modern rooms with couch, coffee tables, desk, and mini fridge.
Ice machine is loud, didn’t bother me but might bother some. So ask for a room farther down the hall if you think it’ll be a problem. Walls are moderately thin. I could hear guests on either side. But they’re not so thin that you hear everything.
Breakfast not included. However the bar area is also a bistro for breakfast and dinner.

Staff is so-​so. They’re friendly but gave the feeling that they’re still kind of new at this. They’re not yet at the level that makes you feel comfortable this is professionally and competently run.
We actually booked two Extended larger guest rooms, and I even asked at the front desk when checking in if both were the same, to which the girl said yes. However, when we went into the rooms, it was obvious only one was the extended and the other not. But since it wasn’t that big of a difference (the extended room is bigger with a sofa bed, extra closet, microwave, and longer counter), I didn’t point it out. Plus, I was that pleased about the cleanliness of our room that I wanted to stay in it.
Amy serviced our room, and she did a nice job. Very clean, hope she keeps it up.

Great Hotel, The staff was Exceptional. the rooms were big, comfortable and very clean. can’t beat that. They went out of their way to accommodate us.

Rooms are larger than normal with a free wifi option.
Staff always greets you with a smile and there to assist you.
Lobby has been updated with TVs, high tables, dining tables and bar area. They have a decent menu and drink offerings.
Exercise room is small and room wall can be thin.
Prices are good for the value that you get and I’ll continue to come back when in Bangor.

So I booked this for 2 days on Priceline and it came in at 3 stars. Folks, this place is more like 4 stars; new, super clean, staff extremely friendly, great food/​coffee kiosk, everything was great… highly recommended.

Really good courtyard Marriott. Very clean, updated rooms. Our room was larger than I expected. Nice couch chair and coffee table area. Also a large desk and chair. Bathroom was also bigger than your average hotel bathroom. My only disappointment was the shower was a tub/​shower combo. No one takes a bath in a hotel room unless it’s the ritz… Every hotel should put in spa showers and 86 the tubs.

Pretty darn happy with my first Priceline bid and wound up here. For being a two star, it wasn’t bad, even though we found a few housekeeper DNA items here and there. I was happy to find there were outlets on the wall lamps on each side of the bed — no digging around other DNA leftovers behind the bed to find an outlet! Comfortable and big was the room and well worth twice what we paid.

For a hotel in the Bangor area, this is a great stopover to lay your head after a long day. The staff was super friendly and very accommodating to all of my needs including having another key made when I went out to eat in a local restaurant.
They also had a restaurant style bistro selection in the lobby until 10pm and everything was both clean and new.
Take the time to take a cab from the airport to head over to the mall area if you want an upscale place to stay in small town Bangor.
The price was actually cheaper then the local Hampton Inn and some other local venues. I definitely recommend this hotel.

We only stayed one night but had a great experience. Very friendly staff quickly checked us in. Our room was nice and looked modern and new. Wireless was good albeit a tad bit slow. The walls are a little bit thin but not too intrusive. The bathroom products provided were a small bottle of Paul Mitchell Shampoo and Conditioner. No body wash or body moisturizer and no heavenly bed. Our only complaint would be the pillows were a little uncomfortable. Kind of foamy and sponge like. Other than that, we would return.

Loved this hotel. Brand new condition, super friendly staff! Will make this my regular Bangor hotel!

Convenient location, decent size rooms, very clean and friendly staff. This is a typical Courtyard. Nothing special, but nothing bad. On my list of «might return».

Stayed here while driving through Maine, I was extremely satisfied overall.

LOVED this hotel so much, that I stayed longer than I had planned!
This hotel is right off I-​95. It is about a 10 minute drive from the hotel into downtown Bangor or downtown Brewer (close, but not walking distance). There is a LOT near the hotel; Target, Walmart, a huge mall, tons of chain restaurants (fast food and sit-​down). There is nothing really within walking distance, you would need a car — but all those stores are a very quick drive up the main road — you can see them from the hotel. Acadia National Park is about a 45 minute — to an hour drive away. There is plenty of free parking, and good free wi-​fi.
This hotel is awesome. First, it is super clean. Second, there is a very friendly staff — everybody was so nice. I loved everything about the hotel. Third, my room was perfect. It was really spacious, and I loved the big bathroom — it had had nice shelving, and a longer-​than-​usual tub, with like a little bench area; that was so nice. The beds were comfy and the room was spotlessly clean. I had a reservation for 2 days, then added another day, then another; I ended up staying 5 days because the place was so great.
They don’t feed you at this hotel, so no free breakfast. But, there is a very nice little café in the lobby. There’s a Starbucks there and you can order breakfast, then it closes — then opens again for dinner. I didn’t eat at this one, but I have at other Courtyards and the breakfast is pretty good. The only thing I got here was good coffee. They also serve alcohol at night, I believe.
Now, most important — something I really loved — there was a recycling bin in the room! I travel a LOT, and this is maybe only the second time I have seen that. I always wonder why hotels are not required to recycle. It was surprising because I had just come from a New Hampshire hotel that did not recycle (I thought NH recycled everything!). So, I was happy to see when I got into Maine they had this bin. It made me love this hotel even more. I could go on and on like I usually do, but I won’t. This is a great place. Stay here, you won’t regret it.

This joint is the best thing going in the area. Relatively new, clean, modern and convenient. Employees are all really nice, and genuinely curteous — and kid-​friendly to boot! No breakfast or anything included, but can’t complain for the price (they have gov’t/military rates also), and they include a complementary coffee bar. They have a in-​house restaurant/​kitchen that I grabbed some breakfast for my son; it was not good and way over-​priced. Save yourself the trouble and hit Denny’s right across the street or Dysart’s. I will definitely stay here again.

Pretty nice hotel. The rooms are large and the bathrooms are huge. The beds are comfy. The rooms have lots of built-​in cabinets, which you think would be a nice touch, but the night I stayed there all I heard were people slamming their cabinet doors.
There is a small area in the lobby where you can get food and breakfast, but nothing is included with your room and there is no continental breakfast. For $ 170 a night, I wouldn’t mind a free bagel and coffee before I hit the road.
For $ 129 – 149 a night across town the Hollywood Slots Hotel is a better choice. Much quieter and the rooms are just as nice.

Nice staff. Rooms are small, but clean. Lobby is big, with a wide screen TV and business area. Pool and whirlpool are nice. Fitness center is very small 2 treadmills, a cross trainer and hand weights ranging from 5 to 50lbs. No free breakfast. Restaurant and bar are pricey, we ate elsewhere. Overall not bad but not great.

This hotel makes traveling to Bangor for work bearable!
I have been staying at the Courtyard every other week for about 6 months. The staff has taken the time to get to know me and they are 3 steps ahead of my every request.
The rooms are extremely comfortable and very large compared to many Marriotts that I have stayed in. They have an indoor pool and workout room which I have frequented. They also have a large business space and a full service bar.
The service is really what sets this hotel apart from most. For example, Marriott is a Pepsi hotel and all I wanted one morning was a Diet Coke. They didn’t have any because of their contract.
The next time I checked in there was a Diet Coke in the fridge in my room. Wow.

This is a really nice hotel. It’s pretty new (opened October 2008 I think).
My room had a garden view — It was lovely and I would recommend this as the the hotel is situated near a retail park, with the car park to the front. The room was clean and modern, with art throughout, LCD TV, free wi-​fi, iron and board, fridge, coffee machine and a great climate control. The bathroom was also a good size, with good lighting. It wasnt completely soundproofed as I could here a neighbouring room through vent (although the person was shouting). I also heard the room above drop something heavy and run across the room. None of this was disturbing though.
I went for the breakfast package. It was a light meal and the food was good. I was left wanting more, but it served its purpose.
The hotel has a small indoor heated pool and jacuzzi. It wasn’t crowded when I stayed. In fact it was empty when I used it — perfect! There’s a pagoda in the small garden. The hotel also has a laundry room, a business area with a couple of PCs and printers and an allocated flight check-​in PC (great if you’re leaving for the airport and the business area is busy). There’s also a bar and lounge with a huge TV. There’s also a large touch screen with lots of local information (weather, concerts, shopping, news). The restaurant is open planned and situated opposite the reception area. Some of the seating has individual TVs and power points — handy if you want to use your laptop.
I only dropped a star as I felt certain necessities were missing for me. My room wishlist would be a magnifying mirror in the bathroom, a full length mirror and perhaps a coffee table. Apart from this, it ticked all thr boxes.
I will definitely come back here if I’m ever in Bangor.
