This is more than a fish market. It also has gourmet foods and fresh meat. Come on a Friday or Saturday and visit the Bandon Old Town Market in the huge, renovated former fish plant next door. It’s an indoor farmers market with local produce and delicious locally produced foods along with many fine products made by local artisans. The farmers market runs from the first of May to the week before Christmas. It’s one of the many fun things to do in beautiful Old Town Bandon.

This is mostly a fish market but I like to check out the food offerings in such places. There is a limited menu but what they have is quite good. Try the fisherman’s chowder, which is loaded with shrimp, fish and scallops. I have grown weary of chowders that seem to be primarily potatoes. Also a winner is the grilled shrimp sandwich. There is one table inside and a picnic table or two outside. Service is slow, but hey, it’s a fish market, not a restaurant. Look for the big blue building on the southwest end of Old Town.
