Wells Discount Liquors

My family has always gone to Wells. We even let them handle my wedding. Before Christmas, my brother bought a gift set that ended up lacking a piece. He brought back the item with the empty box inside, and the owner was extremely rude to him and refused to give him any kind of compensation. This is not the kind of business I will deal with in the future. Negative stars if possible.

After moving to a northern Baltimore neighborhood in the past year, I’ve frequented Wells on a fairly regular basis. There’s nothing not to like about Wells… friendly service, and a large enough selection to satisfy just about anyone who walks through the doors. Very large wine selection, and the beer and liquor sections have just about anything you could ask for. If you’re a college kid who doesn’t know any better and like cheap swill, you’re set. If you want a $ 20 four pack of quality Belgian sour ale, good to go. The Wine Source in Hampden is the only place close to Wells that is comparable, so if you live in the northern part of the city, there’s no excuse to go anywhere else.

Huge selection of beer, wine, liquor. Extremely knowledgeable employees are always happy to recommend something, and don’t pressure you to buy more expensive items or anything like that. They have helped me choose the right wines for various types of meals and events; they also helped me recently decide what type if prosecco to buy, and they guy told me the cheaper ones are often just as good as the expensive ones, which was great to know!
Numerous craft beers and local beers. Pretty much anything you could want. They also sell gift items and have a small section of upscale snacks that go with alcohol, like cheeses and crackers. Pretty good sales and weekly specials, too.

My first time here and I’m super impressed! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. There’s no pressure to buy more or more expensive things like some other liquor stores do. I went in to get a selection of beers for a friend of mine and couldn’t believe the selection they have! The staff was so helpful and everyone was smiling and happy to help. It’s nice to get a friendly greeting when you come in and when you leave. I also signed up for their email list… They have semi-​annual 50% off sales!!!

Wells is usually the go-​to place for purchasing most of my wine, cider, liquor, etc. For one thing, it usually has the lowest prices around which is nice.
I love that they always say hello when you walk in. For such a big place, you get the feel that they appreciate your business. And the cashiers are always friendly, particularly the young woman– I don’t know her name but she has cool dyed hair… Sometimes, though, I think the floor staff needs improvement. It’s hit or miss whether they actually seem as if they are happy to help. I get that liquor stores are busy and hectic but one guy was rather rude. You don’t have to be snappy! I’m giving you business!
I’m in love with the wine selection at Wells. So many choices! Whenever I buy wine here, it’s never a quick stop. I’m also very impressed by the local wines selection– I had a great Boordy blend last time. They have a huge beer section as well, mostly I just like to look at the labels because I don’t like beer but the cider section is pretty full too, woohoo!

These people are so friendly. If you don’t understand they wil explain. If they don’t have it they will go the best to get it. Small store but, nice variety.

Okay, bear with me here. You know at the end of the concert when everyone is freaking out and screaming and the lead singer hollers ‘Thank You (insert city here)’ then drops the mike to thunderous applause and piercing reverb? That feeling? Of total satisfaction and euphoria? Yeah, that’s Wells.

Love this place. Beer selection is great. Booze selection is great. I’m not a wine guy but they are always having samplings and their folks seem to be pretty knowledgeable. I work across the street so this place is pretty convenient for me. This year Wells is celebrating their 75^th anniversary and they have some awesome deals if you find what you like. I’ve been picking up $ 25 1.75mL’s of Beefeater for a few months now. Great value! That’s usually what I pay for an equal amount of Seagrams. Bonus. Also, twice a year they have their big wine sale. Buy one get another for ½ off. No limit. I live downtown where booze is expensive as shit so I’m always happy to hit up Wells before trudging back to the hood.

Great selection, great prices and knowledgable staff. What more can you ask for?

Wells has a huge selection of beer, wine, and liquor. I am mostly a beer drinker, so I definitely appreciate the selection here. There are lots of singles of craft brews and a ton of imports, and I have tried a lot of interesting beers from Wells that I have seen very rarely at other stores of restaurants.
I do not know as much about wine, but they sell a lot of it at Wells. The staff is very knowledgeable and I always feel comfortable asking for suggestions on what to buy. The last time I went in, I needed a dry red wine to make bolognese with, but I also wanted it to be a good drinking wine since I would only be cooking with a small amount. I asked one of the sales clerks. He asked me what I was cooking, what kind of meats I was making it with, and how much I wanted to spend on the bottle. Then he showed me a bottle that he thought would be a good choice and explained to me why he picked it. It turned out to be great for cooking and for drinking as well.
The store also has a lot of snack items, mixers, and small novelty gift items. The selection is what keeps me coming back though. Definitely check Wells out if you are looking for something new to try!

You can never go wrong when discounting liquor. Come on now…

This place has an amazing beer selection. I am looking forward to trying all their doppelbocks. Also, they have my favorite DuClaw thing in bottles, which I haven’t been able to find elsewhere.
On their website, you can check to see if they stock an item before going – which is very convenient, especially for those of us who have developed an extreme distaste for just calling and asking in this, the age of the internet.
Also, they have a rubber ducky. Who can argue with that?

Great liquor store with a lot of choices and good prices.

I’m probably not really qualified to adequately review this place because I always get the same thing-​the 1.75 liter of Rikaloff vodka (!) Hey, I don’t drink it straight, I mix master it with fine fruit juices from the orient, masterly pour it into my Felix The Cat mug, and enjoy – But enough about my ghetto cocktails.
Seriously though, this liquor store is always well stocked, and the managers are helpful with arranging for boxes and carrying large purchases out to ones car. I’ve never had trouble finding wine I wanted or the occasional cider or dark ale. I’ve never had to wait in line long, even on St. Patrick’s Day.
Wells is not as cheap as the mega liquor stores like Beltway Fine Wines, but then again, Wells is right on my way home from work. Need I say more?

This is a place that has a pretty good reputation among beer geeks but not a place I would regularly visit. My initial feeling upon walking through here is that the place is overstocked and poorly laid out. There were at least a few times while here that I felt for sure I was going to hit into a glass bottle and break it because there’s just stuff stacked everywhere.
Pretty good selection though but inferior to Perfect Pour. Prices were average, not great, not terrible. If this was closer to me I’d probably visit it more but as of now the only way I’d go there is if I just happened to be in the area.

Wells is a semi-​large clunky store with beer, wine and alcohol. The layout here is kinda whatever goes, goes.
There is a small craft beer selection, with some standard fairs chilled. There is a lot more Bud, Miller /​Coors, might have something to do with the college town area.
Whilst walking through one can see end caps filled with elegant spirits likes rikaloff vodka, this plastic aged vodka is great for jungle juice and anyone without taste buds. And less than $ 25 a handle.
There is a wine selection too, I have never spent enough time in here to look, but by the website it seems to have a decent selection. Probably has Franzia box wine, I am sure of this.

Though the title might give a newcomer to the area the impression that this is some sort of odd little discount store, Wells Liquors is a super-​mart that has an amazing choice range of all sorts of alcoholic specialties.
Wells wine selection is seemingly endless – as a bonus, there is even a separate wine cellar area! Their beer selection is top rate as well, ranging from yummy Belgian beer to the more typical foreign and domestic options. In addition, Wells stocks port, cognac, vodka, rum, etc. with some surprising breadth of choices. The staff is very attentive and knowledgeable, offering helpful recommendations upon request – or if you daze into the distance for a moment too long even if not appearing otherwise lost.
Wells is open until ~10 pm six days a week (yes, missing Sundays, unfortunately) and is typically open during the agonizing are-​they-​or-​not pre-​holiday periods. Top rate, excellent place without any reservations!

Wells is a good blend of old-​school neighborhood store, eclectic inventory, and helpful staff. It’s a large shop with a wide variety of beer, wine, and spirits. In particular, their beer selection is stellar, with lots of micros and imports that are difficult to get at reasonable prices. The wine selection is decent, with the main shelves holding the expected regions and brands in their more affordable incarnations. The «wine cave» off to the side holds the mid-​priced and collectible French, Italian, and California vintages. The wine staff are always willing to help oenophile and novice alike.
Another Wells highlight is their selection of single malt Scotch whisky and small-​batch bourbons. A lot of their wine guys are also pretty knowledgeable about their spirit selection, as well.
Prices are average — some good, some so-​so, some easily beatable elsewhere. It’s busy on the weekends, but parking is plentiful in the adjacent lot and nearby strip mall. They have runners to help load your car, too. Good service, good inventory.
