Towson Community Dance is a wonderful place to bring your children who love dance to take dance with well qualified teachers.

This school was alright. More a waste of money than anything. I make 55k a year without a degree at my current job and am finishing school. If I would have gotten the job at 18 instead of going to school, they would’ve paid for school. Classes are easy, made so the alcoholics can pass.

Forget Towson if you’re a transfer student, especially if you declared a specific major at another school. I’m a declared graphic design major and at least a semester’s worth of credits did not transfer to the corresponding classes at TU because they were level «200» instead of «300». You have to retake the class and your transferred classes will count as other credits for some other lower level classes you «need».
Parking is impossible.
You better be at that computer the second you’re able to sign up for next semester’s classes because your chances of getting all of the classes you want is ridiculously low.
What I love most is how they try to charge me EVERY semester for something without telling me until I’m billed. The best part is is that they hold your account so you cant sign up for classes or anything else until it’s paid off. Every time I try to call someone to resolve my problems, I’m turned somewhere else or told to go online. The majority of te staff is not pleasant or helpful.
The professors are pretty good and know what they’re doing. I don’t think my education is being effected though everything else makes my college experience AWFUL. It’s sad that I can’t be that enthusiast who’s hyped about her school.
Essentially, Towson is only concerned about your money. You are not a person. You are a walking money bag.

I’ve hired students from many colleges, but Towson consistently graduates students who are more prepared for the work world better than the rest. They are doing something right.

«It’s a school» is really all that I felt about it. I think the advising for Freshmen (and probably transfers) needs to be improved, because they basically told us «pick a major by your junior year and you’ll be fine) which isn’t true, and is evident since it takes 5 or 6 years for a lot of people to graduate. It’s a mostly commuter school, but oddly enough you can’t really be involved in anything if you commute. It’s definitely all about the money for Towson. They charge you for a parking pass that doesn’t mean anything, because you’ll probably miss a good chunk of classes just looking for a place to park. And God forbid you park in the wrong space, even if it isn’t marked, because you’ll never get out of a ticket (I think it’s up to $ 100 now). Don’t expect there to be any communication between departments, either (example, registrar and financial aid).
That being said, though I had plenty of boring classes that I needed to take, I had a great advisor once I picked a major in the business school. The bad thing about the business school is the administrative assistant, who is randomly rude when you have simple questions (but if you compliment her before she can open her mouth, she’ll be nice).

Towson is a very strong school
I would highly recommend this university for an undergraduate degree. The campus is gorgeous and hidden in the woods surrounded by a small town. You have access to many small local places as well as Baltimore City.
Professors care, classes are smaller, and you walk out with a high class degree.

Went here for a swim meet. The pool is a smaller than other college pools we’ve been to and seems a bit older.

I agree with Karina Towson does not do enough to include minorities. As a transfer student from Anne Arundel community college. My transition should have been a easy one. Since all my credits from A. A did transfer and I basically began the program at AACC. This was not the case. First at that stupid transfer orientation the advisor that was supposed to be helping me, had no f***** clue what credits I needed or what courses I had to take. He didn’t even work in the education department, which was my major at the time. Anyways I finished that and thought I was set as far as my classes went. When the semester began I started to take two classes that I had taken at AACC already and thus spent my first week of the semester trying to get into different classes. To make a long story short, I got into a class and failed because the teacher didn’t even care to put me up to speed. Somehow she thought it was my fault I got into her class late. Then I tried to get into the education program and they just kept screwing up my paperwork. I was the one calling them to see if I was missing anything. I finally gave up and switched to the political science program making my own schedule, since seeing an advisor is useless anyways. Thank god i didn’t wait too long before switching programs or else I would have been screwed probably having to add a year to my college time hust because teh education department is so damn lazy. The advisors at Towson are teachers as well and they do not want to be bothered with more work. Unlike other kids at this school I live on my own, take care of my house and still have a full time job to pay for my college I don’t have mommy and daddy advocating for me. I don’t have this spare time to be b.s. Pros of Towson: The town itself has alot going for it like towson mall, smoothie king, Towson town center and my fav 7 west grill. Towson U also has good variety of food I can’t tell you which one is good I hardly ever eat there. Cons of towson: IF YOU ARE A MINORITY YOU WILL DEFINITELY FEEL LIKE A MINORITY AT TOWSON. Not to mention last year on
a student from Towson talked bad about the people that hang out at the union and even went as far as calling them n******. I’m pretty sure he/​she got away with it cause they posted anonymous. Here’s the link to what I am talking about
. The only positive thing I will get from graduating from here is that is a well known school throughout the east coast.

How can I give my school anything less than 5 stars? How did anyone give the schools they graduated from anything less than 5 stars?

Towson has its positives and negatives. There are lots of things to do on campus as far as getting involved in extracurricular clubs and some of the events they hold are pretty interesting as well. Their dining halls were refurbished (at least one I know of) and the food is not bad (could be a little bit healthier but it is COLLEGE food). And if you want to do something off campus, there’s lots of stuff within walking distance. The dorms are for the most part safe. The professors I had were good although I got some tenured a-​holes occasionally who intended on giving everybody hell, but that was the minority since I did my HW before signing up at
;-) Oh, and if you’re in-​state, it’s pretty inexpensive.
Now for the negatives. I think this school is not as diverse as it could be, meaning that pretty much you know all the people of your ethinc group there lol. I looked at other campuses in the area after the fact and noticed the difference. Also, as a minority, I don’t think Towson is doing enough as far as academic advising and networking. Now arguably, I tried to slip through my four years there with a 3.4, but I get the feeling Towson heavily recruited me (and others) because I was black and upped their black student percentage only to leave me hanging and floating through the system. My advisor NEVER asked me about my specific interests or career goals; she just slapped a piece of paper at me and told me this is what I need to take to graduate from my major. I’m glad I have a degree but it’s practically useless and I feel robbed of my experience there because of that. I also have a gripe with their graduate admissions who have succeeded in taking my money and giving me a BS excuse as to why I can’t continue with my app. Be warned, the campus is DEAD on the weekends, so don’t expect much during that time… this is truly a commuter school.
I won’t bother to continue ranting, so here’s the summary. If you like a mid-​size, moderately priced college with a good night life and party scene and decent classes, then Towson just may be your place. However, again, if you are a minority, make sure you take advantage of the different clubs and organizations (helps to have the connects of course) and ACTIVELY PURSUE your education and do not let them float you through without making sure you get the most of what you paid for.

Overall, I liked Towson. I was not into campus life outside of class; Just a bunch of dorks thinking they were going to a Maryland. The professors were decent and the science department was excellent. The price was not bad either.

I think college is college wherever you go and Towson was a pretty decent school. The large guido population that attends from New York and Jersey almost makes it like going to school out of state! I loved almost every proffessor I had, they were extremely helpful and always available outside of class to talk. I would advise to stay away from the“Greek Life” at this school, it’s pretty whack (but then again it is everywhere).
