History
Established in 1984.
«If you take care of Baltimore, Baltimore will take care of you.»
Growing up, Richard Silberstein watched his father, Dr. Charles Silberstein, a physician at Johns Hopkins who was renowned for his generous care for the underserved, care for his patients as he would care for his own family. While Richard knew that pursuing a career in medicine was not the path for him, he realized he had a strong desire to help people.
When Richard first entered the insurance industry, he worked in downtown Baltimore and had lunch every Monday with his grandfather, Louis Silberstein, a successful lawyer who often provided free legal counsel to those unable to pay. One Monday, Louis said something that would forever shape the way Richard would conduct business: «If you take care of Baltimore, Baltimore will take care of you.»
Inspired by that advice, Richard founded Silberstein Insurance Group (SIG), an insurance and employee benefits firm dedicated to delivering exceptional service to its clients.
