Salad Creations is pretty typical of what you’d expect for a chain restaurant in any hospital. The fact that it’s in a hospital and not a mall gives you the perhaps false assurance that the food is healthy. While yeah, it is salad, usually you’ll get a ton of dressing and other foods on top(per the recommended combinations on the sign above the counter), negating most of the initial healthy aspirations you had when you walked in. I love that the salads are huge here. You pay around $ 8 – 10 per salad or wrap and they fill you up. Their recommended combinations are fairly diverse and all pretty tasty. They have a huge variety of ingredients to choose from. Salad Creations has a very normal salad that feels like a meal. I’d recommend coming here over Balducchi’s(which is not far away in the main hospital).

Relatively inexpensive, quick and healthy food in the hospital? Count me in. Salad Creations is by the Carnegie Building in Hopkins Hospital and it’s a bit of a maze to get to. If you ever get lost getting there just ask one of the security guards and they’ll be sure to help you out. There’s actually a close employee entrance by Monument Street but you’ll need an ID card to get in and out of there. Now I’ve only gotten their prelisted salads — but I cant tell you most of the are great. They give you tons of food and it could feed me in 2 meals. For me, I HATEHATEHATE cilantro, so I was always sad when I couldn’t order the Chipotle salad or other ones with cilantro. But IT’S OKAY! They’re super nice and allow you to substitute whatever you don’t like in your salad for something else :). Recommendations: — Shrimp Salad — Gives you a ton of shrimp — Thai Crunch — My personal favorite I do think that they overload on the dressing a bit sometimes, so if you don’t like too much I’d just ask for less.

Pros –friendly staff –reasonable prices considering the large portions –salads, wraps and paninis! –lots of proteins options including shrimp and salmon –tons of dressing options(I think at least 12!) Cons –this is a salad place that was out of lettuce. It was also out of spring mix. All they had was kale(ew, too healthy) and spinach –no quinoa or brown rice options I ended up with a make your own wrap with spinach, edamame, peppers, chicken, and tomatoes. Delish and healthy! Will be back for a quick lunch when u can splurge $ 8 on a wrap!

***Note: If you’re reading this review from outside JHH, Salad Creations is located on the main level of Johns Hopkins Hospital in the Carnegie Building. It’s right near the employee only entrance.*** I’ve got nothing bad to say about Salad Creations. I’ve been coming here multiple times a week for the 6 months I’ve worked here and never had a bad experience. I think the key is they keep it simple, fresh and clean. You can choose from one of their preset options(classic or more«exotic» salads) or build your own. Every salad can also be done on a wrap(steamed soft, not stiff like some wraps). They also offer paninis, chips, and drinks. That’s it. They’ve kept it uncomplicated and focused on really fresh ingredients and fast service. I also appreciate that they keep it pretty chilly(for the lettuce I was told). It’s a nice cool down spot after rushing around the hospital all day. Expect to spend about $ 10 if you get chips and a drink. It’s well worth it, and leagues better than Balducci’s.

When you’re confined to a hospital, a fresh salad sounds wonderful, especially at Johns Hopkins where fast food is your only option after 4 pm or on weekends. So the fact that Salad Creations won’t even stay open through their posted hours is hugely disappointing. Mopped up, put away, and locked tight a full hour before 5 pm this Saturday. That leaves Subway and the vending machines as the options for the several hundred of us stuck in JHH. «Boo hoo, my job sucks, I’m closing up early.» Salad Creations fails.

Best hospital food ever! Really good sized salads, and so many different options. Expect lines during lunch, but you get through it pretty quick. Also, it can be hit or miss depending on who makes your food… sometimes they put too much dressing, sometimes not enough, and on the rare occasion it’s just right!

I am so excited to have a decent healthy food option on the med campus! I never understood why this campus needs TWO Flamers, fried chicken on practically every corner, and that dubious heartburn inducing grease bomb that calls itself Mama Mia’s. The price is actually comparable to most other salad places– Chop’t, Salad Works and Tossed are some that come to mind. Since I have a soft spot for giant salad bars with tons of toppings, I don’t really mind the price. PETS: If you make your own salad, you can put in as many non meat/avocado toppings as you want. This in itself makes the $ 8 salad worth it for me. Their dressings are also pretty good. I’m partial to the honey mustard and raspberry vinaigrette. I also love that they have candied pecans and hearts of palm(don’t get those two items together in a salad though, not a good combo) PEEVES: Oh salad creations, *why* do you have to chop up your strawberries and cucumbers in such a haphazard manner? I don’t want to eat the stem of strawberry or the hard tip of the cucumber. sigh. Also, the employees there often confuse raisins with dried cranberries. Although its not my favorite salad bar, I’m still here at least once a week, so that’s saying something, right? :)

GOODNEWS: This small salad-centric place just opened in the heart of Johns Hopkins Hospital. The location is a great blessing for those who visit the hospital or work nearby, as there are very few healthy and tasty options for miles and miles around. BADNEWS: It may be served up as quickly as fast food, but it’s not ringing up at fast-food prices. I got out for about $ 10 but expect to spend more than that when I try other things(and I will — it was good enough to justify it, plus it’s healthy, right?) DESCRIPTION: The salads are made right in front of you, just like a Subway sandwich. Unlike some other salad places I have been, everything looks good, smells good, and to my palate, tastes good as well. I had a chopped Cobb salad — with grilled chicken, blue cheese, avocado, hard-boiled egg, bacon(bits). It tasted delicious although next time I will probably ask them to chop and mix it a little less to maintain the integrity of the ingredients a little more. Fortunately it seems like it will be easy to customize your salad to your liking. LOCATION: It’s on the first floor of the hospital, near the Carnegie staff-only entrance from the outside.
