Physicians’eye Care Center

This is the best eye care establishment in Baltimore City! It could be because l have been a patient of one of the partners, Dr. Richard Susel, for well over 20 years. It started with me getting a stye on my eye that needed to be removed over 20 years ago and l have not been to another eye doctor (outside of my retina specialist) since.
The office is located in the Pine Heights Medical Center (currently undergoing a much needed face lift). His vision office staff is always pleasant and the office also houses an optical store of which l have purchased glasses from and will not again… their customer service sucked! I never understood how one staff could be so pleasant and the other so salty… anyhoo.
Checking in was painless and l was called back less than 5 minutes from check in. They conduct the standard vision screening with eye pressure and glaucoma screening, but l love the vision staff because they are very thorough and patient in ensuring that your eyeglass prescription is accurate.
Once my eyes were dilated, l waited to see Dr. Susel.
Once called in, he is always very cordial and pleasant to me and my family (always engaging my daughter in her college life and encouraging her to become a doctor!) He completed a very thorough eye exam. The main reason Dr. Susel is my eye doctor is because l noticed some changes in my vision and when l went to have my eye exam, he noticed something and sent me to a specialist as a precaution. That visit to the specialist turned out to be a macular hole with an immediate need for surgery. I had been going to mass retail eyeglass emporiums and know their eye doctors would not have been as in depth as Dr. Susel. I am indeed a patient for life!
