Paint Nite

Didn’t know what to expect — bought the tickets via groupon as a christmas gift and tagged along. While I didn’t drink, I did indulge in some finger foods while I painted away. Going in, I was nervous and ready to get the day over with (it was gloomy outside) but as we began I quickly remembered how much i LOVED coloring as a kid and I was all in from there. I had the easle in my lap, fingers dirty, face screwed and focused. I fell in love, and will be planning a group paint nite soon!

A fun easy way chill and do something creative with or without wine. All you do is show up. They give you the easel, the paint, the apron and you spend the next couple hours being directed through a painting with a room full of other people. Typically, there are some break times while paint dries so you have a change to get up, go to the bathroom, enjoy an appetizer and a drink.
In the end, you have a piece of art you made and a great time with friends.

This is specifically for The Stables restaurant location in Westminster, MD for the Paint Nite event held on 6÷4÷2015.
To start off, we went there for dinner for my mom’s birthday before the Paint Nite (2 hours prior to the start of the event). The food/​service was HORRIBLE! Our waitress literally abandoned us and began taking drink orders for people who showed up early to the event before she ever even gave us our check. We waited 20mins for her to come to our table. Finally, we just left and sat in our Paint Nite seats because they were starting to begin.
30mins into the event, our waitress realized we got up from our table. I asked for a beer, and didn’t receive it until 15mins later after she realized from my shitty look that she forgot us, again.
The Paint Nite instructors sucked. My sister and I sat with our hands raised for 10mins to ask for more paint, but were ignored while the one instructor gave a group of girls encouragement that sounded like they needed self esteem counseling.
Then, both of the Paint Nite instructors decided they were going to go outside and take a 20min smoke break. Everyone began saying, «where are those ladies? They’ve been gone awhile».
When they finally came back in, they sat and ate for 10mins before going to the next step.
Also, the paint was extremely watered down. I used a dry brush (and I have years of painting experience) and the paint would not stick to the canvas. Cheap asses.
I’m only giving this 1star because Unilocal is forcing me to use at least one star… otherwise I wouldn’t give them one at all.
I will never go to another Paint Nite again because of how awful these instructors were! I’ll be sure to let all of my friends/​family know the same.

I have done quite a few paint nites but didn’t realize they had a Unilocal listing until after this last one. Each time I’ve gone the staff has been stellar and the hosting bar has been more than accommodating. I love how playful the staff are and how willing they are to assist if you want a different color or shape than the one they are doing. Ive only done pictures in the «easy» category so they all have been pretty simple to follow along and recreate. Ive been to these events with friends as well as alone and have enjoyed it both times. With friends of course its fun to drink and create but alone I really got to work on my creation I also felt like the staff were extra nice to me when i went alone. Over all I think its a great alternative to the traditional date night or night out with friends and I would recommend it! I will actually be back soon myself since i purchased multiple groupon deals :)

Not pleased that Paint Nite «borrowed» a painting from a competing business. Still waiting to hear back from their corporate office on their copy of the baseball painting done by Art and Ale at Barley and Hops. Art and Ale is a charity driven event. Very unsavory practice on the part of Paint Nite people!

I went to the Paint Nite at Hightopps last month. What a fun night! I’d never attended but had seen pics of friends going. It was a great way to spend some time with an out of town friend.
The instructor was great! Every step was explained and questions answered. Clearly none of us are painters but it was almost as simple as paint by numbers but with us able to add our own flair. (We did an easy picture, btw.) You did feel like you were creating a piece of art. I’m actually not ashamed to hang mine in my house.
Hightopps should’ve had more than one server for the room. The poor girl was run ragged and it took a while for us to get our credit cards back.
I had so much fun that my sister and I are taking my mom to one for her birthday. A girls night out. I think this would be a great activity for just about any event. Birthday, date night, girls night. Guys would have fun too.
Tips: Get their a little early to get seats together, if you have a group. Wear things you don’t mind getting dirty. I, somehow, managed to get paint on my shirt. Black on white. Yep, after two washes I had to dump that shirt. Go to groupon/​living social for coupons or ask anyone who has attended previous events for their discount code. There is no reason to pay $ 45.

nice place for a date night. Everyone was very nice and welcoming being as we were 40 minutes late we were able to jump right in and catch up. The paint staff and the famous Dave’s staff was very attentive. Will definitely be returning

We had agreat time. Even tho we were 40min late they let us catch up to the group. The instructors were nice and they were there to help with 1 on 1instruction.
There was one instructor and a helper.
This was a great date night

Very fun depending on who your artist is! I’ve gone three times and the artist makes the night fun and relaxing. Caren is definitely who you should take classes with!

Get a deal off of Groupon or Living Social and save at least $ 20 for your Paint Nite session. My friends and I bought our tickets for $ 25 on Groupon and then went to the Paint Nite website to register for our evening of painting. You can choose by location, artist, painting, or date.
We did a Paint Nite at El Rodeo in Edgewood. We were about 20 minutes early and the four of us were able to get a row of seats together. We started a few minutes after six. The session began with the instructor making us say a funny Paint Nite oath about how we would not complain that our paintings were horrible. Everyone was given an apron, white canvas, three different size paint brushes and a plate with white, black, red, blue and yellow globs of paint. Following the directions from our instructor, everyone in the class mixed colors and painted a beautiful beach scene. I do not consider myself talented in the art department, but my painting turned out beautifully.
With the instructor and assistant, our group had a great time at Paint Nite. We enjoyed ourselves and the time we spent together making our masterpieces. For my group, it was everyone’s first time, but we were all very excited and would like to plan another night out doing the same with more of our friends. I think this is a great idea for friends, couples (even though the majority of the class was women) and a night out. You do not have to drink, but it can make the paintings look better for some people!
Tips: Arrive early for a good selection of seats. Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting a little paint on (it might not happen, but it can and did to me!) but still look nice because they will be taking pictures to put on their Facebook page. And most importantly, have fun!

Went to Paint Nite in Owings Mills tonight. It was fun, and definitely worth the Groupon. The majority of attendees are women, seems like a good idea for a girls night out. May also be fun for a date: time to talk and have fun. My only complaints include inability to see the instructor/​see instruction and a very hot room (we were at The Green Turtle in Owings Mills, so not sure what that was about, but they clearly did not have the a/​c on in the room we were in… it was ridiculously hot in there).
I would attend again, but in an air conditioned venue. Plus I’d arrive earlier as they indicated so I can get better seat instead of being cramped in the middle and against a wall.

Had a great ladies night! We drank wine and laughed about how our paintings were turning out. The paint night staff were very fun! Bought our class off of Groupon. I will definitely be doing this again. Perfect for date night or girls night!
