Monro Muffler Brake & Service

They’re nice and inexpensive while still providing great service. I came in and asked for an oil change and mentioned I saw a coupon online — the guy immediately was accommodating and even told me I didn’t have to print out the coupon or even bother showing it on my phone.
He was helpful and caring and even recognized me from my last oil change — which was more than 6 months ago!
The only issue I have is that I’d call and try to gauge a wait time but they weren’t ever able to give me a good answer. They seem a little disorganized. I’m a student so just leaving my car with them for the day isn’t really feasible. But if you’re able to just drop it off in the morning and pick it up later in the day you’re set!

I stopped by to get an oil change and they told me they were booked all day but could try to squeeze me in if I dropped off my car. 3 hours later my car was ready and they even rotated my tires for me! I asked how much windshield wipers would be and they suggested I go to Walmart instead– much cheaper but then they ended up replacing mine for free! The oil change was only $ 18 and they answered a bunch of questions and gave me tips!
I came in thinking I needed new brakes but they assured me the brakes looked good as new! any other place would have charged me for new brakes probably but Rick was a sweetheart !

I’ve come to Monro for around a year for regular oil changes. Saturday mornings, takes around an hour, always with Rick. This Saturday I dropped off my car around 9:30am with a different service person, and left to wait at a coffee shop where I watched the battery life on my phone drain away, so I had to come back to wait at the shop.
When a woman walked in w/​her stroller and she and the serviceman started flirting, she insisting on accompanying him to run an errand next door it was getting close to three hours. I took my keys and left, and that will be the end of coming to Monro.

Our low tire light was on, which was upsetting because we were supposed to leave immediately for a 6-​hour trip to Virginia.
Our regular mechanic across the street was unable to take us for several hours, but they sent us here to Monro. They squeezed us in and took care of the tire repair immediately. They reduced the delay of our trip immensely. Giving us the gift of time is worth coming here. Thanks so much, guys!

Chip was really helpful to try plug my old tire and when that wasn’t possible quickly put on a new tire. In a stressful situation they were very helpful!

I have reviewed this place before, but I like it so much, I feel the need to emphasize again what a good job Rick does. He changed my oil and fixed my tire for a nominal fee, all of which was very important as I was about to head on a long road trip with my six month old. Not only that, he was very expedient. I always have a great experience here.

This place is awesome! I’m a little torn about writing such a positive review because I don’t want everyone in town to start coming here, but they really deserve it. Called on a Tuesday afternoon about an oil change and Rick told me he’d get it done if I brought it right away. They got the oil change and a tire rotation and balance done in about 30 minutes! Plus, no hassle about getting other services done like at one of the neighboring service centers. Icing on the cake is that he charged me one of the best prices I’ve gotten in Baltimore for an oil change and tire rotation.
He doesn’t have a huge staff, so I would call and check with him to make sure he’s not slammed with other cars before you bring yours by.

I had a lot of rumbling/​noise coming from my car when i drove it above a certain speed. I suspected a tire issue. I took it in and described this problem and asked them to check the tires.
Rick, the guy in charge, called me back the same day and said all I needed was a tire balance. $ 12 later, I was out the door. He was really friendly and I can understand why his shop gets great reviews on customer service.
I had mentioned to Rick that the sound was similar to one I had when I broke a belt in a tire a few years back. Rick told me my tires looked fine other than being out of balance, so I went on my way, and took a road trip of about 1,000 miles the next weekend.
Fast forward to Monday after my road trip. I still had the sound going on, but Rick had said the tires looked fine, which I had taken to mean ‘safe to drive.’ I took the car to another mechanic to have a look. He discovers that TWO tires have a broken belt and that the tire sizes didn’t even match. He’s extremely surprised that another mechanic would miss this, especially when balancing the tires.
I suppose it’s possible that I broke two belts on my road trip, but it’s highly unlikely.
A broken belt in a tire is an extremely dangerous situation — especially when driving at a high rate of speed, as I did. I got lucky and did not kill myself, any other motorists or my passengers as a result of a tire blowout on the windy Pa. Turnpike.
You may not be as lukcy. Go to a shop that can correctly diagnose a broken tire belt. I don’t think Monro on Howard Street is that shop.

These guys are great! Very nice, very honest and very fast! My car was done in a day and a half; at my old garage it would have taken a week at least!

Walked in for a tire change and oil change. They were able to accommodate me immediately for a fair price. Great service.

I’ve been to this place 3 times now and have had great service every time. Fair prices, respectful and honest staff. Today I brought my car in with a flat tire, unsure if it was the result of a slow leak or if it had been irreparably punctured. They pulled my car in, put it up on the lift, took the spare off, and placed the original tire in a soap water bath after inflating it with air – no bubbles so no puncture. They put the properly inflated tire back on, pulled my car out to the front, then did not charge me! Said it was easy and no trouble at all and refused to accept payment. Great guys over there, highly recommend.

This place is amazing! They are competitively priced, honest, professional, and just great to work with! I take my car there for everything I can.

I brought my car here to have my brakes worked on based on the high praise I saw here on Unilocal and was not disappointed. I paid half of what the Meineke on Falls Road was going to charge me for the same work.
I will definitely be back in the future.

I go here for honest men to check out my car and not get taken advantage of. I’ve taken my car twice here and although they were not able to find a problem with my car they did not charge me. I really appreciated that. In the end my car was stalling because the battery was almost dead, I found that out by going to an auto zone and asking them to check out my battery. I didn’t give them 4 stars because they didn’t check my battery, but I give them 3 stars because they were honest men and I would go back to them for future car problems if it should occur. It’s hard to find honest mechanics.

I tried to get an oil change at this location twice and failed. I wanted to come here because I saw it was highly recommended on Unilocal and being new to the area, I wanted to give it a shot.
On the 1^st attempt, I stopped in on a Saturday and spoke with Rick and he said that he didn’t have any time to fit me in for an oil change because it was only him working. He told me to come back on Monday. I was disappointed but I understood.
I was not able to go in on Monday, but on that Wednesday, I decided to make an online appointment for that Saturday. By Friday, I didn’t hear any confirmation (supposed to get a phone call) so I called. I spoke with Rick and he said I could come by either at 12 or 1pm or whenever. I told him I would wait there and he warned me it might take a few hours depending on how many people are working and the other cars already waiting. I said that was fine as I had no other means of transportation. I hung up the phone and then realized he didn’t even take down my name or anything. I shrugged my shoulders and then figured I’ll just see how it goes the next day.
When I actually went in for my oil change for my 2^nd attempt, I admit I was running a little late, but Rick didn’t give a defined time so I figured it would be still be ok. I walk in and asked the guy working the counter if I could get an oil change and he said they didn’t have time to do one. He told me to come back Monday. I totally understand that I didn’t really have an appointment, but at the same time then what was the point of making the online appointment? I realize now I should have said that I had an appt, but I was so frustrated that I just left.
This place seems either very understaffed or disorganized. I understand its first come, first serve and I was more than willing to wait, but I suppose if you’re looking for service that is flexible and doesn’t take hours of your day, this place might not be for you.

Totally agree with Paige. Rick and Drew are both awesome. I’ve been coming here for 8+ years, and they’ve always been good at letting me know what my car needs and what it doesn’t, if my tires will make through another winter, etc.

Also, I later discovered (not from Monro Service) that my car battery needed to be replaced. Thanks for the negligence with my car maintenance. NEVER going to a Monro Muffler/​Brake & Service EVER again! Definitely disgusted.

front desk man extremely friendly, great communication, car was ready in timely fashion, knowledgeable, recommend maintenance for my car but didnt pressure me to do it right then, I told I would bring my boyfriend back so he could explain what it needed, and he offered to speak with my boyfriend on the phone!
Seems very trustworthy and like they are really trying to turn around their past reputation.
