MedStar Prompt Care – Federal Hill

I made an appointment with a certain doctor for my annual physical and then got the intern because the doctor I requested was busy. I don’t want the intern or if have one doing their residency have the real doctor in the room. Disappointed.

I have been going here since October, when I fractured the pinky of my right hand. Now, I am in Occupational Therapy once a week, and although they are not part of Med Star proper… they are Med Star National The service from BOTH areas of operation in the building have been excellent. Kathleen is a very skilled Occupational Therapist, and is working to get as much function as we can after my injury. If you have a hand, arm or shoulder injury… she is great. The other therapists ar occupational therapists and work on all areas of the body. Kathleen does as well, but she specializes in the complex and tendon filled hands.

Prompt, courteous staff and services that took care of our immediate need. MUCH better than waiting in the ED for 4+ hours for what likely would have been the same type of care provided. Convenient hours as well… and the nurse practitioner who took care of us was top notch. While no one wants to have to be seen in a facility such as this, I will say that our experience here was good and we will return to this location should the need arise in the future.

Visited with my adult autistic son for a rash. Support staff was great, gave us paperwork a few minutes before they were officially open. Records were easy to fill out with the help of an i pad. Dr Dixon was great with Alex and provided great care. Dr Dixon is not available as a primary care, unfortunately. We were in and out in 45 minutes, granted my son’s condition was not complicated, but I could not have been happier with his care.

I’m seeing a trend with the reviews here, and I’m a part of it. Now for me, the services were fine, but they’re not what I asked for. I asked specifically on the phone if they remove ingrown toenails, and was told yes by the receptionist. The doctor said they don’t do the procedures at the clinic. Now I get stuck with a bill for services I did not really need.

Came here in the morning for a UTI. I get them frequently and I knew what it was as soon as my symptoms started. Still spent 2 hours waiting for the PA but I got the meds I needed and it was a quicker visit than the ER would be. Returned a few weeks later, same symptoms, the place is always closed! Only open 8 – 4 on the weekends and 8 – 8 on weekdays, except when you call at 7:30pm on a Monday and their offices are already closed.

Went in due to a workout-​related injury and was in extreme pain. The doctor barely looked at my foot and said I just sprained my ankle but that she would run an x-​ray just in case. She wanted to send me out the clinic without crutches but I could not walk without assistance so I had to ask twice for crutches. I was sent home with a brace and I had to call in the next day to get my x-​ray results — which came back negative for a break.
2 weeks later I was still in a lot of pain so I got a second opinion and they x-​rayed my foot and it showed that I had broken my foot! This was the worst experience and waste of money. I would NOT go back here!

Walked over with my wife about 30 minutes before closing time. They were polite, professional, compassionate and prompt. Although the data entry part was sufficiently detailed, the doctor/​practitioner seemed to have to review it. Reasonably thorough exam, although a little quick on the Rx trigger. Overall we would return for urgent care.

Just left this facility shaking our heads. We live 2 blocks away and visited due to my husband’s painful, swollen knee. Although the individual staff members are very attentive and friendly no doctor ever showed up, after more than an hour. And there was not one single person in the waiting area — not one, the entire length of our visit. We even called ahead and were told that we would be seen in about 15 minutes, so we went 2 minutes down the street to their office and waited. Oddly we were also going to discuss with them switching to one of their primary care physicians, since ours are outside the city and not terribly convenient. Needless to stay we will not be switching nor will we be returning to their Prompt Care (ironic, eh) office. We finally just left — without ever being seen by the doctor. The only positive experience was the office staff, nurses and assistants. I hope they are able to work in a more efficient office at some point! By the way, we suspect that they just pull the on duty doctor from their regular doctors office upstairs and have them service anyone that happens to show up at the urgent care office downstairs. Apparently those visitors are no where near a priority!
