Local Color Flowers

Don’t bother wasting your time visiting this floral vendor. i met with Ellen on behalf of my daughter who needed to return to work in Manhattan. It was a good thing that she didn’t bother to delay her return for this meeting. My initial impression was of a very rude women who snapped at me when I mentioned various flowers. She was abrupt with her responses and uninterested in the my discription of the feel my daughter wanted for her wedding. She gave tge distinct impression that she was superior because her flowers were all «locally sourced» but could not or would not offer suggestions to accomplish the goal of having avery nature garden flower feel for the wedding. At this point we had met with about 5 other vendors and all spent much more time with us discussing the details. Ellen spent roughly 15 minutes. I was so dissapointed because being a garden myself and initially thinking having locally sourced flowers from a source that prudes itself on that fact, this woul be the perfect
florist for us. Sadly it was not and especially since Ellen never even bothered to follow through with a proposal. It has been weeks and I have never heard from the her. Take my advise, don’t waste your valuable time. Planning a wedding is time consuming and important. There are too many wonderful florists in the Baltimore area to bother wasting precious time with this one. I would have rated the service a zero if I was able. Such a waste.

My friends and I were hunting last minute for a florist to send one of our friends for her law school graduation. Local Color Flowers was an amazing find! The online order was simple, with questions about color preferences and price range. Within an hour after submitting my payment, the flowers had been delivered, and they were BEAUTIFUL.

I needed to send flowers to my sister after a hospital stay. FTD? No way. I always prefer to deal with smaller, local concerns. After reading about Local Color Flowers here on Unilocal,I decided to give them a try.
From my first contact with Ellen through delivery it was a seamless process. She was fabulous. We discussed a price and what was in season. We talked about colors as well. Ellen engendered so much trust that I gave her full creative control.
A gorgeous bouquet was delivered at the specified time. It was lush, beautiful and interesting – not your run of the mill arrangement. All the flowers were locally sourced and incredibly fresh. My sister was thrilled. Me too! It couldn’t have been easier. I highly recommend Ellen – she was a pleasure to deal with and the flowers were superb.

They are hard to find but they make nice arrangements’ and the great part is that all the flowers are local and fresh !!

We are members of the co-​op and are in love with the bouquets that we receive each month. And to top it all off, Ellen and everyone there always takes the time to chat and share their passion for what they are doing! Our daughter even got a tour of the ‘big refrigerator’ to see where all the flowers are stored, which she loved. Worth every penny and more!

I have been on the giving and receiving end of Local Color Flowers bouquets and have always had a very positive experience. Everything is beautiful and unique and long-​lasting – plus it’s easy to order and very reasonably priced. The last bouquet I ordered was even delivered in a handmade pot that made it really special and the recipient was really impressed. I highly recommend this business.

Ellen at Local Color Flowers is fantastic — so fantastic, in fact, that I’m writing my first Unilocal review in years to tell everyone about her. I wanted to send flowers to my girlfriend for her birthday and didn’t want the typical generic internet arrangement. I also didn’t have a whole lot of time. Over the phone, we came up with a price range, but otherwise I gave her full creative control. My only input was that it should be a fresh, spring mix. Ellen took that vague input in stride. Not only that, she worked with me to figure out the best delivery window (she hand delivers! Who does that!)
My girlfriend was pleasantly surprised by Ellen holding an amazing and fun arrangement. She loved the fact that the flowers are all locally sourced and incredibly fresh. Thanks Ellen and Local Color Flowers!

Ellen recognized me by voice since I placed my order over the phone. My boutonnière was perfectly crafted to wear with one if the 3 suits I was considering for the evening. I even got a lesson on flowers. The fact that they use fragrant flowers, naturally grown, in season and local adds to the beauty. My boutonnière is fragrant as it is smart. Can’t wait to wear it!

My wife was graduating from Hopkins’ nursing school today so I dropped her off and searched for florists around me. Local Color Flowers came up as the first result and so I drove over. As I drove by I almost skipped over the location due to the warehouse looking working space. I sat in my car wondering if I should call them first to make sure I could do a walk in flower purchase. I decided I didn’t have enough time for indecision so I dropped in.
I was greeted by three workers (one probably being the owner) and someone who seemed to be getting trained. I told them my predicament and that I needed three arrangements (one for the wife and two for her friends). She asked if I had any preferences. Due to the look on my face she graciously moved on to price, «20−25ish per arrangement?» «Yes, and my wife is wearing purple.» And they were off.
In ten minutes or less they had three beautiful arrangements. As I walked out with my surprise flowers I noticed a wonderful smell from the fresh flowers that was different from normal flowers. I am not good at naming plants so I’ll leave it that. It certainly smelled nice tho.

Receiving a Valentine’s boquet from Local Color Flowers was a delight! The whimsical little arrangement was beautiful (I uploaded pictures), and knowing they came from local gardens made them special and worth the price (not sure what that was, though). I’m very particular when it comes to accepting gifts (aka I return most things and detest the typical red roses + baby’s breath), but I’ll definitely continue to support this business in the future.
The boyf worked out all the details, but he said contacting them went smoothly. He lives in Lima, Peru so they used skype to arrange a delivery to my apartment in Baltimore. The blossoms came just before the Valentine’s winter storm hit, so good planning by all! After just over a week and the pink tulips died, but the remaining white ones look like they’ll hold up for a few more days. Can’t wait to attend their flower arrangement classes some time!

She is great. For an anniversary, she made a beautiful arrangement and delivered it to the the restaurant.

Let me begin this review by sharing: I absolutely loved working with Local Color Flowers!
Having Local Color Flowers do the flowers for my wedding was a great decision. The flowers were not only beautiful, but the arrangements and bouquets smelled fantastic! My flower headpiece that was created for when I walked down the aisle in lieu of a veil was breathtaking. It was an easy and smooth process working with Local Color Flowers and I would recommend it to anyone.

I would have loved to give thousands of my dollars to Ellen at Local Color Flowers, but I never received my quote, so I’m guessing my business wasn’t that important. After a great phone conversation where we discussed my vision for my big day, I was told I would receive a quote that following Monday. After a week or two and no quote, I followed up with an email, then another email after no response. Finally, I called Ellen (at this point I’m tracking her down to use her services) and on the phone she said she has been busy. No apology. I asked if she received my emails to where she acknowledged that she had. Again, no apology. She said she could get me a quote «no earlier then next monday» to which I agreed. To this day, I still haven’t received a quote, email, phone call.

I highly recommend Ellen and the team at Local Color Flowers! I was looking for a local, sustainable option for wedding flowers that wouldn’t break the bank. Local Color Flowers went above and beyond my wildest expectations.
Ellen was talented, professional, and a joy to work with. Because I live out of state, we had our discussions over the phone. She was quick to respond to my phone calls, and did a great job of scheduling out the planning process. I enjoyed our conversations– Ellen’s caring personality made the wedding planning process so much more pleasurable.
I had a vision for color and style, but I needed help making my ideas more concrete. Every step of the way, Ellen worked with me and answered my questions. Would the groomsmen’s gray suits match with the other colors I had chosen? How could I make my grandiose vision more affordable? Ellen did an amazing job of listening to me while also giving me the feedback I needed.
On the day of the wedding, Ellen showed up early with the most beautiful floral arrangements I could possibly imagine. I was floored. She set up everything without a hitch– I didn’t need to worry about a thing. It made a big difference to be surrounded by so much beauty on my wedding day.
I couldn’t have been happier with Ellen’s work on my wedding flowers. She is an amazing artist and a consummate professional. I highly recommend working with Local Color Flowers!

What a fantastic experience. I’m currently in Singapore for work, and I needed a well-​received florist in Baltimore for a little pick-​me-​up for m’lady. Everything was handled easily with their online form, then I used Skype to finalize the order with my CC info. Ellen found my girlfriend’s taste spot on at a very reasonable price. Delivery was super easy and lickety-​split. I will definitely use this place for all my floral needs from here on out.

We used Local Color Flowers for our wedding. I picked this business because I read that they were open to working with smaller budgets and still providing beautiful flowers. It was incredibly easy to work with Ellen, we planned the order (bulk flowers for centerpieces, bouquet, and boutonnière) over the phone and via email. She worked from several pictures I sent and she was SPOT ON. The bulk flowers were beautiful with the «picked from the garden feel» we had talked about and the bouquet and boutonnière were PERFECT. I felt like Ellen’s flowers matched my style exactly — even the unspoken details were just right. She was incredibly flexible (last minute date change!) and fun to work with. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I called her from another city to send flowers to a friend in Baltimore. She was great about giving me exactly what I wanted as my friend has very particular taste in flowers. Then at the last minute my friend left town and I had to cancel the order, and Ellen was so great about it, even telling me that I did not owe her a dime. As an out-​of-​town customer who is unlikely to need a Baltimore florist again, I was very grateful for the stellar treatment.
So while I cannot attest to the quality of the bouquet, this is customer service of the highest order — the kind you rarely find anymore.

«As good as it gets» hells yes! Ellen’s philosophy of buying flowers 100% locally would have already won her three stars from me. Those last two stars she had to work for, and I’m thrilled to note that she earned those stars through and through! She is reasonable, personable, flexible and creative. For my wedding, she understood budgetary constraints and was just happy to help promote local flowers even though it didn’t mean a huge sale from me. She provided a list of flowers that are generally in season during the time of my event, so I got a chance to not only visualize what may (and may not) be possible, but I also got to learn about which flowers are locally in bloom! I loved this. I also loved all of the previous work she had pictured on her blog so much, I pretty much gave her free reign to create things as she saw fit. She didn’t disappoint — I absolutely loved the bouquet and other extras I ordered! And, because I was looking to keep costs down, I offered to pick up my flowers from her rather than have them delivered. Ellen was incredibly accommodating to this.
Bonus points — the bridal bouquet just happened to dry out several days later in such a way that it still retains its beauty and is a decoration in itself. It’s like a two-​for-​one :)

When I first emailed her, she sent me a list of all the flowers that would be in season at the time of the wedding. It was great to have the opportunity to familiarize myself with what would be available and to get a sense of what I liked.
We met up in Baltimore and she could not have been sweeter. I brought a bunch of pictures of flowers, arrangement styles, and color combos that I liked. She immediately got what I was going for and articulated it way better than I ever could have.
Throughout the entire process, she was easy-​going, flexible, and awesome! She’s also the kind of warm and friendly person that you look forward to interacting with. My husband and I really enjoying working with her.
And the flowers! They were everything that I had hoped for. The bouquets were gorgeous, the MIL, grandmas, and aunt raved about their corsages, and the boutonnieres were perfect. The table arrangements were beautiful and exactly what I wanted.
