Federal Hill Fitness is a full service health club offering all the equipment classifications in addition to extraordinary classes, personal training, group training, yoga, Pilates, weight loss, strength, conditioning, toning, and much more. With no pushy sales staff and plenty of fitness solutions from which to choose, it’s like no place you’ve ever sweated.

History

Established in 2002.

The owners, who also own and operate MV Fitness, had been frustrated as members of other clubs that city residents can walk to nearly anything in many Baltimore neighborhoods but had to get in a car to go to a health club. They had also notice and opportunity to provide a higher level of service to members in a more personalized and architecturally vibrant setting.

Previously a Korean grocery store and pawn shop, the Federal Hill Fitness facility is a dramatic departure from a typical health club. Exposed ducts, original larger timber beams, and contemporary design components make up the atmosphere which feels more like a Soho loft than a gym. Centrally located in historic Federal Hill, it’s just a short walk for nearly anyone living or working in the area.

In a departure from the typical industry mentality, Federal Hill Fitness has no sales people and offers a variety of exercise solutions, some of which do not require a membership.

It’s worth a trip over just to see the inside.

It may be a small gym, but it packs a mighty punch! Friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere, and outstanding personal trainers are just the beginning…
When you join you get full access to Mount Vernon Fitness as well and the free classes at both locations taught by their fabulous personal trainers. The spin classes are excellent, and I totally recommend Reese’s 30 min Sculpt & Abs class!
I’ve never had any issue waiting to use a machine — the club is almost never crowded. All cardio equipment has individual TVs and there are tons of magazines (perfect if you’re anything like me… I can’t workout unless I’m distracting myself). When you’re done working out, grab yourself a complimentary bath towel and head to the locker room located downstairs — stocked fully with complimentary shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.
If you’re just starting to work out, they have a Solid Start program that will teach you all about the equipment and how to use it properly. They also have a special that when you refer friends, you get a month free/​12 friends and you get a year free… it’s completely unlimited.
Lastly, their trainers are incredible — After only a few sessions with Donna, I lost 15lbs in ONE MONTH, just in time to look excellent for this cruise I was going on. I recently worked out with Guy and he completely kicked my butt back into shape. Reese even won Top Trainer in Baltimore Magazine. You can get a free training session when you join the club, and you can check out their profiles online or ask someone who works at the club to recommend one for you. Also they are doing a special program right now called FitClub — focusing on weight loss — you meet up with your trainer 3 times a week for around 6 weeks. That’ll get your New Year off right!
It’s because of the awesome people at Fed Hill Fitness that I stay motivated to workout… I know I would fall into the sea of people at one of those massive gyms and probably wouldn’t go nearly as often. Obviously… I’m a big fan :)

I was never a full member of the gym, but the neighborhood running group I checked out a couple of times met here and they offered a free class for us after we did our weekly runs. Looked nice to me.
