Dan Brothers Shoes

I’ve never been to a shoe cobbler before, but I finally hunted one down to fix a favorite pair of heels that I wore down to the metal about five years ago. Even after five years, I couldn’t toss them. I took them, plus two other pairs, to Dan Brothers, and they fixed them all up perfectly. It was like getting a brand-​new version of my favorite-​ever pair of heels.
The staff here is very friendly, and the work is high-​quality, affordable and fast.
Even if you don’t need to buy shoes or have old pairs fixed, the adorable weimaraner that lives here is reason enough to stop by.

Best shoe repair in Baltimore hands down. The service at Dans is top notch and they do quality work. I’ve had my heels replaced, fixed and suede cleaning.

I brought a pair of suede & leather Anthro heels in for their seasonal cleaning & repair. They sloppily cemented the strap and had to repunch the holes (this was after I had left, realized the shoe was unusable & came back in to request the fix). They cleaned the suede but didn’t touch the leather or even wipe down the heel. Bare minimum service for over $ 20. I’ll look elsewhere next time I need my shoes worked on.

They don’t have a lot of athletic shoes and it is not as big as DSW, but for local charm and good value, come here. You can get $ 400 shoes or $ 40 shoes. Also they do repairs.

My birkenstocks have seen a lotta love and needed some desperate heel repair on the sole. Dan Brother’s made in a cinch! Dropped’em off today, $ 30 for heel repair and I’ll see how it turns out tomorrow.
Having them right around the corner in Fed Hill is extremely convenient, and although they’re not cheap the service is excellent as well as the shoes.

Yesterday I busted one of my old flip flops while at work in Federal Hill and needed to do a fair amount of walking, so I needed a replacement asap.
I was a bit skeptical about Dan Brothers because their website was down with a GoDaddy placeholder up in its place. However, once I arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by their selection of shoes (including a range of nice quality flip flops) as well as their customer service. They offered to repair my old beat up flip flop, but I decided to get new ones instead. They quickly helped me find a pair that I liked and got me fitted with the right size, and then threw on a discount below the listed price just to make sure I was happy. I couldn’t really have been any happier with my trip to Dan Brothers.

I went to take my shoes to Bill Graves Shoe Repair but there was a sign on the door saying that they moved locations to Dan Brothers. It’s on the same block, so I trusted the sign and took my shoes to Dan Brothers. I needed to get 3 shoes waxed and 1 heel replaced although I was convinced to replace the heel on a second pair. The man who was helping me attempted to up-​sell many other services, including replacing the sole. He may be right, I’m not saying he wasn’t. But he brought out samples and showed me a finished product and it was all a little much. I just want to drop my shoes and be done with it.
I believe it cost $ 25 for a heel replacement (which includes cleaning/​waxing) and $ 6 for just cleaning/​waxing. This was a little more than I was expecting. I only had a heel replaced once before up in Boston 2 years prior and the guy only charged me $ 10.
That being said, the service was exceptional. The replacement heel was seamless, and the shoes shined brilliantly.

have shopped Dan’s for nearly 40 years. Co-​worker told us of the place and my husband and I went down one day walked in saw a pair of men’s lime green patent leather shoes with lucite heels and decided we were definitely in the wrong place. A voice from the rear of the store said, «I have exactly what you want, wait right there.» They were absolutely right. We were regular customers while we were in Baltimore, then made regular trips up from DC. Now we live in Florida and are back and forth regularly and try to stop and shop each time. My husband always says he only going to buy ONE pair but it usually 4 or 5. He is a happy man. The prices are great but it’s the service that keeps us coming back.

Dan Brothers is one of the few full-​service shoe stores around. Normally, as a guy, you don’t think that’s important. But trust me, having someone help you find what you’re looking for, getting the size you need, and making sure you’re happy with your purchase is actually a good thing. If you’re used to trundling around the men’s side of DSW and digging through boxes, treat yourself to a visit to Dan Brothers.
I seem to have two modes of shoes: dress, and very casual. Any time I aim for the middle ground, I end up with either something that looks like a utility boot or an Oxford with a rubber sole. So, basically I went in and after a few minutes to get oriented, picked up a brown buck Docksider, and said «I want something about this level of casual, but not a boat shoe, and a slip-​on.»
After a couple options that looked good turning out not to fit in the sizes in stock, I was about ready to call it quits when the salesman pointed out a full-​grain leather Venetian slip-​on in chocolate brown. They looked good, fit great, and even though I wasn’t in the market to pay Johnston & Murphy prices for a pair of casual shoes, they knocked some off the price since they didn’t have the others in my size. Damned things are the most comfortable shoes I own, now.
Dan Bros. also has the largest selection of stylish big men’s shoes I’ve seen in one place. If you’re a size 14 or up, this is your shop.
