Nice neighbourhood café. Had a delightful egg, cheese and bacon bagel.

Had a decent hot cocoa with a delicious Belgian waffle. It is a cozy little place with a friendly atmosphere. There is ample street parking and a parking lot about a block away from this place.

With wooden floors and brick walls, this place is a quaint little café. The owners are very hospitable and although a limited menu, the food was delicious, especially the breakfast pizza.

I wandered into this place after taking a walk through Washington Blvd. At first on-look it looked cozy. And I had an urge for an ice-coffee to drink since the nearest coffee shop was a little ways for me I decided to stop by in here instead. The place is extremely comforting and the ambience was what would you expect from a typical coffee shop. The woman that waited once was extremely sweet and professional. She was very attentive to my needs and any questions u had. I looked over the menu and saw they had a decent array of foods that seemed pretty affordable. But I decided to try the flavored cupcakes they had instead and oh boy! What a wise decision. I tried the Strawberry shortcake which was about $ 3 and some change. Which was pretty agreeable. The size and taste of that cupcake was phenomenal. At first glance you wouldn’t think such a cupcake could have such flavor! But this one sure did. It was very delicious, the icing, the Taste right down to the strawberry on top. I would put this cupcake on the best cupcakes I have ever had! It was that good. I can’t speak for the food or the coffee. But I can speak for the service, dessert and atmosphere and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great comfortable place to hang out and have a cupcake :)

I’m honestly not sure how to review this spot. The coffee is Zeke’s and is phenomenal. However, the fact they serve food that’s cooked in the microwave is an insult. Their«Sunday Breakfast» consists of a waffle and a choice of sausage or bacon, cooked Ina microwave. The egg is as well. If this were simply a neighborhood coffee shop, I’d give it 4 stars. As a place that serves food, it’s a 0.

Café Jovial isn’t quite the right name for it. Café Cozy. Café Homey. Café Urban. I associate jovial with loud and boisterous, which this is not. But it’s a casual little place, just right for relaxing with a good book(it’s a block from the«Washington Village» branch of the library), or lingering over a beverage and watching the world go by. This is a nice, relaxing place in an up and coming neighborhood. Wish they were closer to Carrollton Ridge, where I live.

I really love café jovial — its everything you could want from a small neighborhood coffee shop. Delicious Zeke’s brew, to start, and good coffee specialty drinks. Then there’s the food — I haven’t had anything from here that I didn’t like. I’m especially a big fan of the breakfast pizza — yum yum! It’s flavored exceptionally well. And everything is SO reasonably priced! I brought a large group of friends from out of town for breakfast, and they all commented about how good it was, especially for the price. The owners are friendly and fast, and it’s a classic café environment, with lots of natural light. Highly recommended

A great little coffee shop. They serve Zeke’s coffee which is outstanding. The food is flavorful and staff friendly. They have WiFi which is great if you need to work on a project while enjoying your coffee. Definitely recommend.

This is a great neighborhood coffee shop/café. The owner has created an environment that is welcoming and friendly. I love visiting to have a breakfast sandwich and coffee with my fellow Pigtowners!

I had the Sunday Breakfast which included a Belgian waffle, multiple slices of bacon and«scrambled eggs» that was actually one circular egg(microwaved in a container, maybe?). This place is good if you’re looking for a quick, low budget meal. Don’t expect great taste.

An easy 3 minute drive from B&O Museum. Café Jovial gave us just the boost we needed on a warm summer afternoon. Delicious fava bean mash sandwich is zesty and heathy. When visiting again we will be sure to return!

So I waited until I made at least three visits to write the review. It was good everytime and I figured at some point I’d be disappointed and would need to take that into consideration. It never happened. I’ve eaten breakfast here twice, and gotten coffee three times. The coffee is delicious and the food is solid. I’d recommend trying the breakfast pizza for something a little different, and you can’t go wrong with the other options.

Interesting little place in a section of town that we honestly don’t get to often enough. It’s very, very small in here. There’s maybe 4 tables max, so plan carefully if you want to eat in, though we had no problem on a Saturday morning. The menu is actually pretty extensive for such a tiny place — I wanted to try a veggie mash sandwich, but I simply wasn’t all that hungry, so I stuck with a egg and sausage bagel, while Hubs had the«Sunday Breakfast» special. And, of course, two cups of coffee. The coffee is VERY, very strong here. Wow! If the sign on the door is correct, it’s Zeke’s, which in that case wouldn’t surprise me a bit. This isn’t fancy or overly done food, folks. As a matter of fact, what we both got, I could probably whip up in my own kitchen. But when you’re out and you’re hungry and you just want to have something simple, this place will fill the bill. The service is very much like what previous reviews have said — very pleasant and accommodating and they’ll make helpful suggestions if you have dietary restrictions. I did see some vegan desserts in the case, though the selection was limited, so this might be a good place to stop in if you have such concerns. I think that the waffle could have been a tad improved — maybe some fresh fruit, a little powdered sugar, doctor it up just a little? But for the price, it was good value. Hubs was satisfied with it. We’ll come again if we’re in this part of town. Recommended.

Delightful café. Great menu, delicious food, reasonable prices. The staff made every attempt to meet the off-menu requests of my daughter. Cozy and friendly. My husband chatted with the artist of the works on the walls when he came in for coffee. Will be back on a future trip to Baltimore.

So I chose this place because I work right down the street and I didn’t want to have yet another meeting in my dark, dreary office and may I just say that I was pleasantly surprised by how adorable and delicious this place is! The person I was meeting got there before me and ordered a coffee so when I got there I just wanted to get down to business and didn’t really have time to order anything. But no one bothered us and asked us to order anything or to speed up — everyone was just enjoying the day which was fantastic! After the meeting, I decided to order something to bring back to the office for lunch and can I just say JACKPOT! The prices are amazing — I ordered a Buffalo turkey sandwich with sliced tomato, jalapeño, buffalo sauce, ranch and provolone cheese — it was made to order on whole wheat bread and was delicious and did I mention that it was so inexpensive! Only $ 6.66 for the sandwich, a bag of chips and a drink — what a deal! The service was also amazing — the women who work there are adorable and really care about the food they are making which really shows! You need to check this place out!

Since writing my first review of this place, I have become quite the regular — grabbing teas and lattes to go or meeting friends and colleagues for lunch. Over the years, the menu has continued to expand, so I never have to try the same thing twice. Yesterday’s veggie mash sandwich, though, was truly a godly creation! DELICIOUS and HEALTHY?! Fabulous! It reminded to me to update my review even. You can’t get better customer service, either. Your order is always served up with a warm smile and a genuine appreciation of your business. That type of good will just makes you want see this business succeed — especially in Pigtown as it continues to welcome new businesses.

Excellent coffee shop to fuel Pigtown’s ascendancy! Yet another exceptional Ethiopian-owned(so you know the coffee is good) business in our little slice of heaven. The sandwiches are great and modestly priced(~$ 5) and the mixed coffee drinks are exceptional. There is a rotating group of artists who keep the walls looking fresh and hip. It has been great to see what a dedicated owner and a much-needed business can do to bring the neighbors together.
