BEST WESTERN PLUS Hotel & Conference Center

Went to stay at this hotel before and after a cruise out of Baltimore– it was advertised as offering «park and cruise» service, with a shuttle to the pier. Turns out my Expedia rate of $ 97.00 didn’t cover the «park and cruise» which cost another $ 70– $ 50 to park and $ 10 each for the two way shuttle. The park and cruise rate was $ 137– so not much of a savings– (they gave us some malarkey about how if you book on line you cant get the park and cruise rate. The shuttle was run very well by a company called «Elite Transportation» that had a table there in the lobby. I would recommend them highly. Well, maybe it was a misunderstanding, but that was the first problem. Next, we tried to get two ashtrays sent up for our «smoking» room. Never got delivered until we went down to the desk to get it. Same thing happened with our request for a couple packets of regular coffee– (they were all decaf when we arrived.) There was a free urn of coffee downstairs in the lobby but the coffee maker in the room only made ONE cup at a time. What happened to those similar-​sized coffee pots that made five or six? and the cups in the room were paper. The front desk staff was pleasant but not very helpful. The room itself was nice enough, comfortable beds. But ask for a bay-​view room. The ones on the east side overlook the back yards of a bunch of trashy row houses. The hotel is not in a great neighborhood. I didn’t see much around it but there was a McDonald’s next door. One good aspect was the restaurant — Tradewinds– good food at good prices– a full buffet breakfast was included in the room price and it was great. We also ate two other meals there, a Saturday buffet at $ 15.00 and another routine evening meal at prices from $ 12 to $ 22. I had a good chicken fried steak. The wife had surf and turf which she enjoyed. Service was very good– even at the buffet. They also had several pizzas available for pick up or room service in the restaurant. The hotel also provides a shuttle to the harbor area and to other sites. not sure if they charge for that. All told, a decent place for a nights stay. The wi-​fi was free and worked well.

Great staff. Price is reasonable forr what you get. We had a wonderful stay in a difficult time. The buffet breakfast was great. It’s not a perfect place but for a mid level hotel we enjoyed it.

The staff at this hotel is very hot and cold. The girls that worked at the front desk were great, very courteous and helpful. The rooms are nice and clean, the lobby is nice etc.
The staff in the restaurant are terrible. Very rude, unhelpful and so much attitude/​negativity I was scared to eat anything they prepared and cancelled my room service order. They didnt have change for a 50, wouldnt let me pay with my card and said Id have to go down to the front desk to get change or pay. And they seemed really annoyed by me calling in the first place… not sure why. Either way, I wouldnt order from the restaurant. The older woman in the evenings sounds spiteful, I would not trust her food.
Also, there was a man in the evening that worked at the front desk, he had maybe an arab accent, he went out of his way to try and mess up my check out. I called down in the evening and requested a late check out from him. He stalled, then said the latest he could do was 1pm. I said Ok and asked if he would put it in the system, he said he had. But, I got the negative attitude off him as well so I called again in the morning and asked them to check that I had my late check out. Of course, they said there was no late check out in the system. Which means I would have gone down at 1pm and they would have charged me extra. So I asked for one and the philipino guy in the morning kindly offered me a 2pm checkout, which was great… but it also means the man the night before was being unnecessarily terrible.
All round, nice looking hotel… poorly managed, horrific staff (minus the front desk women, they were lovely).
I wouldnt stay here again, too much potential for major problems… most of the staff have issues. Just stay somewhere else where you dont have to be paranoid about them trying to screw you over/​take out their frustration on you.

Staff was polite, and lobby areas were clean and updated. However the room itself was gross, AC did not work well, and the shower was beyond dingy. The «full gym» was way outdated and the pool looked like a swamp. The Jacuzzi part of the pool was not filled, and it was moldy and crumbling.

I will start off with I have not personally stayed at this hotel overnight. From what I have heard from friends, the process is complicated, the staff is disorganized and there were extra charges left and right that no one could explain.
I recently used this hotel as a place to park my car while I was on a cruise. They charge you $ 50 for the entire week per car if you do not book a room. If you book a room it’s free. There is also an additional $ 10 service fee for the shuttle to the Baltimore Port.
Upon arrival I was told as per Best Western (via phone) all I needed to do to add a car to a room (a friend was staying overnight) was to come into the hotel, give the room number my friend was staying in and say I wanted to add a car to that room for cruise ship parking. I did this and was given a ticket to go put on my car. I had to move my car from general parking to cruise ship parking (identified by green lines) and hang the ticket on my mirror. I went back after I moved my car and hung the tag to pay. The person I had JUST SPOKEN TO had no clue what I was talking about. I’m an honest person so I explained 3 times that I was adding my car to a room for cruise ship parking and he had just given me the ticket and I needed to pay. A manager finally came over and I told the story again. She told me I had filled out the wrong ticket and needed to fill out a new one… walked back to the car to hang that one and finally paid. I asked when the shuttle service runs she asked me «where are you going?» REALLY?!
Long story short, the only reason I’d ever use this hotel again is for my next cruise. It’s cheaper to park here than at the port. The shuttle service they use is AMAZING (5 star rating) and deserves all the recognition.
Hotel staff is disorganized, clueless and don’t listen to a word you say. If you don’t need to use this hotel for cheap cruise parking, I’d recommend you look elsewhere.

The room was small and tired, but the shuttle into the Inner Harbor makes up for the room. The pool’s filter system wasn’t working properly and the hot tub was lukewarm at best. However, the Sauna was piping hot. The free buffet breakfast was nothing special. With a little sprucing up, this hotel could be great.

This hotel is way below lackluster. The front desk staff aren’t that friendly. Anastasia checked us in last night and it seemed like she really didn’t want to. She gave us the room key she didn’t say «enjoy your stay» or «thanks for staying with us». She simply gave us the room key and told us where the elevator was. The rooms are not the cleanest! There was a hair on the toilet. The ceiling looks like it could fall. The room smells like mildew. The beds look dirty and looks like they just threw the sheets and pillows on there. I’m so disappointed. What a waste of 187.00 dollars. Don’t stay here! It needs an update! I called down and asked for toiletries and the front desk person asked me to come down at get it myself. I couldn’t believe that. Breakfast was okay. Housekeeping doesn’t speak.

Reviewing the front desk service because I ended up not staying.
Was staying in the lobby waiting for the friends to come from NY on a bus that often drops off nearby. One of the employees came up to me and asked if I was staying there and told them that we were going go rent a room and had no reservations. Still waiting an hour later, for whatever reason they seemed upset ive been waiting in the lobby and told me I couldnt wait there anymore. It was blatantly obvious that they thought I was lying as they didnt do a good job being polite — asking how many I had in my party and their names, to which I mentioned that we had no prior arrangements… My friends did arrive and we ended up going to another place. What a shame, but they lost business.

Ok, lets not get the review twisted, the stay was not bad, nor was it good. It was just plain average. The location is pretty neutral, its a little bleak if you ask me (I am from California). For most, the proximity to the cruise terminal is good. For us, we just needed to be in Dundalk and I couldn’t find something better.
We checked in late at night and were helped quickly. The couches in the lobby are ATROCIOUS. Like they have been sat on a trillion times and the padding is completely gone. You can stand there and watch people sit down and quickly get up. You are literally siting on the wood beams in the frame. Management really needs to address this.
Our rooms were on the 12^th floor. The whole hotel is dated, a little worn. It was not dirty. The room was large enough and had a microwave, fridge, king sized bed and nice TV. There was a couch and table as well. The décor was a hodgepodge of colors and textures. This is not the Westin. The bed was firm, but the wife liked it. They have a washable duvet on the bed which is good, I HATE hotel bed comforters which harbor germs like you can’t believe.
The bathroom was dated and worn. Tile floor had small chips and cracks everywhere. Wall paper had been cleaned/​wiped with bleach one too many times. Understand that it was clean, but there were definitely stains on the walls. Shower was fine. Everything was just run down and older.
We ate at the restaurant the first night and the food was … edible… It was likely cooked several days prior and warmed in a microwave. Breakfast was better (and FREE!). They had eggs, sausage, juices, fruits, waffles and a neat pancake machine where you just press a button and a minute later a pancake appears!
I tried to use the business center and that was a fail. They had three computers and I needed to print my boarding pass. The website needed the pop up blocker to be turned off and I couldn’t figure out how to do it. Maybe they had it locked? So I tried the computer next to it, that one wouldn’t turn on. I gave up after 15 minutes.
They have a little gift shop and you can buy some snacks and water. I noticed they have room service pizza. It was pretty cheap, we didn’t eat it but were tempted! McDonalds is literally steps from the front door. Parking is in the lot, its free but make sure you get a permit from the front desk.
Would we stay here again? Yes, if we had to go to Dundalk. But this was a rare occasion and we won’t be returning to Dundalk

Check was easy. Rooms were large enough with two beds. Rooms were clean and hotel was quiet. Breakfast served in the morning was eggs, waffles, oatmeal, cereal and fruits. Would definitely stay there again.

Came here while visiting Baltimore Comedy Factory & decided to stay here! I would first like to say if your coming from out of town & needing some place to stay while attending a show, I would definitely recommend!
We got a king size room, the room was OK, not so nuch modern looking, the hotel or self is nice. The view we had was Everything! The couch was worn out and need to be thrown away! They had everything we needed for our stay as far as coffee maker, iron, microwave etc etc! They also have a indoor pool, but didn’t have time to go!
Hotel gave use a free breakfast, in a little dinning area, basic stuff but you do get hot sausage, waffles, biscuits, & eggs! it’s FREE!
I will stay again!

Worst! Worst! And I repeat the worst hotel! Do not go here. The concierge are rude and obnoxious!
Save your money and go somewhere else. I had an issue with the hotel service which I reported and the manager was not helpful. Is this somewhere anyone would want to go?

This was our first stay at this Best Western Plus, it’s very close to I95 very convenient to continue on your travels. The staff was without exception friendly and customer service oriented. The room was clean and offered the general amenities such as toiletries, iron and ironing board, coffee maker, hair dryer, mini fridge, and microwave. The pool and fitness area were very clean with a variety of exercise machines to use. I would gladly rebook my next visit to Baltimore.

We have been to this hotel several times and for the most part, the staff has been friendly. If you’re looking for luxury, you won’t find it here. This is your average run of the mill «motel» type hotel. I don’t know how I would describe the cleanliness of the rooms or lack thereof. While they weren’t filthy, they weren’t particularly clean either. I actually requested that they have someone come up and reclean the bathroom. They did this without a problem. Though they did come back in and there was an improvement, the appearance of the grout in the tiled floor (shower pan) was grungy looking. The smell that emanated from the bathroom randomly was of mild sewage. We noticed that only in the room that had a handicapped accessible shower, but not the other one. There was a hint of mold and dampness in the rooms.
A couple of incidents that could use some attention aside from the cleaning are making sure that they keys are activated for the appropriate amount of time and checking their email frequently so that when guests arrive they know that they have a reservation and don’t charge twice.
They do offer a free breakfast which you probably can’t beat anywhere in town at no cost. The food isn’t bad and there is quite a selection. Just a few of the items are scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, DIY waffles, yogurt, bagels, cereal, a variety of fruits, etc. Other amenities are free wi-​fi, cable TV, free parking, and free shuttles to and from the hospital. They also have an indoor pool. They have a restaurant with room service and best of all, they have a laundry room. Those are just some of the services they offer.
A big plus is that they are very accommodating with Johns Hopkins patients and offer a discounted rate to patrons.

I am back again. Our room is actually cleaner this time than the last, but staying here can be just plain frustrating. The key cards rarely work twice, and even if they do, we have yet to have them work two days in a row. Also, the staff rarely if ever check their email, which can complicate business check-​ins because in cases like ours, the credit card authorization is in their email before our arrival and then they want to charge us on arrival because they didn’t check their email. They need a little more organization. The price is right, though, and so is the location. I would give them three stars again if not for this problem.

I just learned, two days after checking out, that this hotel added a $ 100 smoking charge. I DO NOT SMOKE. This place is seriously disturbed and this is clearly the angry lady behind the counter when I checked in getting back at me. For what I do not know. She became seriously weird at check-​in after I didn’t say thank you.

My sister stayed her during her recent trip to Baltimore. The hotel is clean and well managed. They offer shuttle service to Johns Hopkins which is about 15 minutes away. They hotel is near to many attractions in Baltimore, including the inner harbor. This is a great inexpensive hotel that offers quality service and clean lodging.

First thoughts… oh crud… there’s a cemetery across the street???
But it’s actually pretty far away, and the hotel sits high up on a hill, so you’ll be good in case of the zombie apocalypse.
Here’s a quick breakdown of my thoughts of the place…
Pros
–Indoor pool
–Fitness center
–They give a ton of amenities, even toothbrush and toothpaste and razor
–You can make your own waffles!
Cons
–Fitness center is only cardio equip, no weights
–Bathroom toilet sits too close to the wall (I don’t like it when my knee touches the wall in any bathroom, and obviously, I’m sitting)
–Bfast buffet is a little limited
Friendly staff, plenty of parking, and a restaurant in the hotel… always good signs for me cuz I’m usually so beat at the end of the day that I’d rather not travel even more to eat before bed…
It’s about a 10 – 15 min drive to downtown Baltimore from this spot so if you don’t have a car, you may be cabbing it around a lot.

Stayed here for three nights and I can’t really complain because I didn’t have to pay a cent thanks to the conference my boyfriend was attending so I can’t really complain.
Or can I?
The reason why I knocked off a star is because I saw a staff member being nasty to two of the cleaning ladies. Her tone was condescending and harsh. It appears that the cleaning ladies have difficulty understanding English but I don’t think it warrants anyone to use that kind of tone on anyone. Also, just a heads up: no one cleaned our room for 3 days and when we asked about it, they informed us that it’s best to take the do not disturb/​please clean sign completely off the door knob when you are leaving the room. Since most of the cleaning staff cannot read English, they assume that all doors with the sign on, regardless of which side it’s on, do not want to be disturbed.
Free breakfast: Buffet style, they have those rehydrated eggs or whatever, toast, mini muffins, cereal, orange juice, cranberry juice, oatmeal, mini donuts, wafflemaker, etc. It’s not an amazing meal but hey, it’s free. Free wifi is available throughout the hotel. A pool and gym is also available to guests. Did not swim in the pool because the water was cloudy. The «gym» consists of about 5 machines. I remember seeing a treadmill and an elliptical. Parking came free with our room as well.
The room itself was nice. I found the bed, sheets, pillows, everything super comfortable. The bed or room had no offensive odor and it was clean (except for a suspicious stain on our couch). Bathroom came with a coffee maker, coffee things, shampoo, conditioner, bars of soap, shaving cream, toothpaste, razors and lotion.
Overall, I looked forward to coming back to the room to sleep every night.
