Bennett’s Curse

I went to Bennetts curse for the first time last haunting season after dying to visit for the past 3 years, It was absolutely worth the wait!!! I’ve been to SO MANY haunted attractions over the past 5 years I visit one every weekend date from fri-​Sunday including some weekdays starting early sept-​not and this place is hands down one of the best I’ve been to, it calls to all the sense and it’s absolutely worth the drive from jersey. Extremely reassuring props and actors which look like props, it takes a lot to scare me in haunted attractions and honestly Bennetts curse had me jumping and screaming so many times, when I least expected something to happen there it was!!! From outside it looks like it’s going to be terrible but I promise the moment you walk in that building you will not be let down!!!

This haunted house does a great job mixing scary with fun! Perfect for a group of mixed enthusiasm for being frightened. Yes, there are way scarier haunted houses (see: Statesville Haunted Prison) but the affects were fun and the makeup was pretty good and the whole thing lasted a long time without awkward breaks between scares. Any glitches or cheesy affects mentioned in prior reviews must’ve come from those with VERY high expectations. Needless to say, I was pleased with the experience, as was the rest of my group!
(Only holding out on the last star since I have, technically, been to more impressive haunted houses)

4 attractions 1 low price hollywood quality sets and animatronics as well as being in a SAFE, SECURE part of Baltimore. Uniform Police On site this is really conveniently located off the interstate too :). HIGHLY recommend visiting at least twice a season :).

Bennetts Curse haunted attraction in Baltimore is honestly a huge waste of time and money. For such a highly rated haunt I was very disappointed in the lack of actual scares. The lay out is like a maze, sounds cool right? But poorly decorated rooms with rubber props and cheesy anamatronics detract from the entire event .
There are hardly any «actors» and at most they only yell at you and bang on the walls. There is no interaction with the staff at all and makes this a bland event. In addition there were so many people going through at the same time that all the «hidden» scares happened before my group got to them.
I will give credit to the inferno 3D part. The 3D paint was awesome and I wish this was longer! The attention to detail clearly shows. Sadly this is not scary… just cool to look at.
So in conclusion, avoid this and go elsewhere!

Bennett’s Curse was a blast for my girlfriend and I! I’m not gonna blow any surprises, but I will say that we watched a lady in front of us fall on the floor and try to crawl away! Definitely going back next year!

We was there yesterday with speed pas.
It was really quick to go in, the new building was promising a very cool and spooky!
The actual show was bad, felt shorter than last year the actors was way less, the maze in the end very easy to figure and very easy to got out, not scary at all, the 3D section didn’t work because they didn’t have glasses, basically it’s not wort it at all …
Last year I give them 5 stars absolutely best ever!
This year total disappointment, found another hunted house will be better for sure

I had gone to Bennett’s Curse last year in Jessup and it was really good, one of the best one’s in Maryland. I decided that I would spend the extra money and come here again (paid way more than what it’s worth. clearly). I noticed that this year there were a lot of props and a lot of «show», but it was a super big disappointment and not that scary. Not that many people and it seemed half the size of last year (at twice the rate!!!).
It was easy to see which were real and fake this year, and many more props than actual people trying to scare you. They sent us in really big groups so we would see what was supposed to scare us (not a good way to handle over flow).
Save your money as its not worth it, it’s a huge disappointment and you hear so much about it and its publicity, guess what — ITS JUST MARKETING. Not actually and real content itself. If you love this place so much, go to another one like field of screams and you will see how this place is not worth the $$.
For those who give this place a good review, not saying you are wrong, I just believe you need to check out the other haunted attractions in the area to raise your bar for the amount of money you pay. They told us that there would be candy at the end and there was, so they get 1 star and not 0.

I’ve been to haunted houses across the country and this easily ranks as the worst. I’d rather go to scaremare at liberty and get preached at about Jesus than hand my money over to these people.
I wasn’t scared one time! Not once.
To be fair there may have been a few mitigating factors: 1) they were clearly short staffed… unless you include the insane number of mannequins who looked as though they’d seen better days; 2) speaking of large numbers of broken mannequins this place is four sections of repetitive drivel; 3) only one actor interacted with us (kudos to the guy crawling on the floor); 4) instead of scaring us the actors spent more than 90% of the time rudely telling us to move faster… this killed the ambience (for the record they told us the experience would be 45 minutes long… by our watches it was closer to 30); 5) the bathrooms were scarier than the actual haunted house (dear ladies, bring lots of wet-​wipes and maybe a sham-​wow to soak up the errant fluids); and, 6) they were so focused on pushing everyone through their meat grinder that we saw every scare TWICE before we got to it.
Don’t waste your time… this place really went out of its way to waste ours.

I’m giving this three stars because I’m really in the middle about it. I’ve been to various haunted houses in my life and this one was unlike any other one I’ve been to and I still can’t decide if that’s a good thing. The whole storyline of the house was completely unappealing to me and failed to make much sense. I found a lot of the props cheesy and just not having anything really to do with a traditional haunted house. Obviously so much time and effort went into the sets and the props so I really don’t want to be harsh here, I just wish there was more of a horror factor such as I don’t know pig masks, lunatic doctors, crazy people. All I really saw were medieval characters in hoods which just isn’t scary to me.
But enough about the bad, let me highlight some good things. First of all the staff were very nice to us. We had been waiting in line forever and three of us girls had to use the restroom, we were terrified to do so because we felt like we might get pushed back to the end of the line. They held our spot and allowed us to run to the bathroom before we entered. I really really appreciated that. The parking is good and organized. The place is really cool when you first walk in with awesome fog lights and lighting and they even let you take a free picture which again is appreciated. There’s a dark room which really made me afraid because I wasn’t sure if it was meant to be part of the house or not. I couldn’t find my boyfriend or anyone at one point and I experienced real fear which you know is the point so kudos on that part.
All in all it’s not a bad place but I don’t think I got my money’s worth.

I am only giving this place 1 star because there is no option to give anything lower. I spent $ 120 so I didn’t have to wait over two hours and for what?! I’m an easy scare, and literally probably jumped once or twice. Every year we go to multiple attractions and this was hands down the worst. I expected greatness but $ 120 and 27.5 minutes later the one long walk of an attraction is now over. At one point, my boyfriend scared the actor –_​– .I’m very upset that I had to stand on a milk crate to use the ATM because the website says nothing about cash only, I definitely would never recommend this place no matter how cheap it is! There are no refunds, and they state it everywhere. I now know why!

Bennett’s Curse Haunted House was a lot of fun. We did a double date kinda thing with my sister and her husband. For two men that are supposed to «protect» us, it was quite enjoyable watching them get scared. My husband is not a fan of things jumping out at him but he was a good sport and took the lead. We were sent in groups which was great. It was just the 4 of us. The only problems that we encountered were that we were moving faster than the group in front of us so we could see some of the characters get back into their hiding places — no fault of the attraction — I guess my husband was just a little scared and tried to get out of there. We also had a group of teenagers behind us and since they were without Mommy and Daddy, they figured they could cuss up a storm. They caught up with us and it really made the attraction not fun for us anymore, I just wanted to get out by then. Again, no fault of the attraction — just unruly teens. The line took a little long to get through because they sent you in groups which is understandable. I would definitely return next year to check it out. We got a few scares which is what we wanted.

I usually shout this haunted house’s praises as one of the best in Maryland.
Unfortunately, this year, in the new baltimore location (which is much better than the former tent), not a single pneumatic prop was operating. Not one.
I guess it’s just part of it being the first year in a new location, and early in the season. I’m sure it was a fluke. Usually a pretty decent haunt.

I don’t get some of these negative reviews. My husband and I went through Bennett’s Curse last weekend and enjoyed having the &@#%¥ scared out of us!!! Between the actors jumping out at us and all of the gory scenes, I was constantly hiding behind my husband screaming. If you are into haunted houses, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

The disorganization was astounding; first year or not at new location if you can’t get it together before you open your doors then do a freebie. It was a total waste of time and money. This is my opinion only.
1) They are in a very bad part of Baltimore, I know, I work in Baltimore. There was no security that I could see in the parking lot — even when we came out and it was later still no security present around outside. Once the heroin addicts in the area realize what’s going on — I hope they have security to watch the cars and the people. Not a good decision to move. Blobs park location was amazing — I guess that is way this was so disappointing.
2) You get in a line to wait outside of the building; once inside the disorganization was apparent. Between buying a ticket; getting herded to a photo line opportunity then not knowing what line to get in next… Was a mess. Once they finally opened the line to get in line for the haunt it wasn’t any better. In years past the line was set up to prepare you for being scared. Foreplay for lack of a better word. The old location had a haunt feeling about it. THIS ONE, please. There was a spot light coming off of the back of the ticket booth pointing directly at the line. Then there was another BRIGHT ASS light in the front of the line so the lady could read the paper tickets. There was an employee at the front of the line holding a kid, like maybe 2 or 3. Not cute, folks find babysitters so they can come out and get scared, not to look at your employees kid they brought to work with them. I wanted something to build me up before walking into the haunt, as just spend over $ 80 for us to get into a haunted house.
3) Then inside — just got worse. We only went through with 5 people total, so I thought great less people more scares. NO. They would jump out from around a corner and only scare the first person. And by scare I’m being nice. OMG it was just stupid. Half the rooms had no ‘real’ people, just props. And some of the rooms were so big that you could of done an entire line dance with a group of friends. Big and almost empty with no real people, something stuffed in a corner that you couldn’t see because the lighting was horrible.
4) The 3-​D part was cool — again very few real people, just props. I had issue with a few props of dead kids in trees — although by then I was just disgusted I had spent money. AND this was one of 2 times folks were out of character. There was a guy at the beginning, where you get your glasses, in a hoodie and jeans talking to one of the characters. REALLY people.
5) The blackout maze was the only saving grace of this whole thing — even though we exited a door that took us back out to the line we started in. Of course this was a mistake on their end — they need to make sure your maze is set correctly without doors you shouldn’t be able to push open (you think it’s a wall as you can just feel around)
6) Another room as we were about to enter I could hear them talking and it was not ‘in character’. When we went through the curtain there was 3 of them standing in a corner just talking. Once they realized we were there they jumped back into character… Really, you had one job!
7) The tunnel (that goes around and you walk through it); even that they got wrong this year. The end you walk toward was so bright that it messed with the illusion of the effect.
8) I don’t think being startled a few times is worth $ 35 a ticket. No true scares. It was a lot of walking through nothingness and then someone screams from behind a wall.
9) I know this is a lot but damn, it was a lot of wasted money. If you decide to go keep in mind this is only my opinion. You may love it, they may have had an off night. But for $ 35 a ticket I don’t think they are allowed an off night with refunds.

This was my 3^rd time and unfortunately my last. It’s in a bad location of Baltimore City. The lighting and props were poor. The crew was not friendly and in some cases unprofessional. A friend went around the corner before me and 3 of them were standing there chatting– one with his hood off. Not sure why the change in venue-​But they really need to revisit their decision. I would rate this a 2 on the meter scream and only that high because of the black room.
