Admiral Fell Inn, an Ascend Hotel Collection Member

The hotel was very clean, and nicely decorated. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The reason it get 2 stars is the extremely uncomfortable bed, the noise from outside and the drains were all clogged. If you want to sleep bring ear pluggs, which the staff was nice enugh to bring me. This area is very active way into the night, and all noise gets into the room.

My husband and I were at Fells point for our 19 wedding Anniversary. We were able to park our car not have to move it for the whole weekend as the hotel has a shuttle and there is so much within walking distance from the hotel that a car is not necessary. While at the hotel we took their ghost tour with our guide Steve who was very informative, we had a good time with him. We will definitely book a vacation again at The Admiral Fell Inn!

Just stayed in this hotel last night. It is a beautiful old historical bldg conveniently located at the shore, near all kinds of shops, restaurants and bars. All within walking distance. If you want to do a pub crawl with some friends, and don’t want to drive, definitely stay here. Otherwise than that, I really felt that I did not get a great value for my money. I paid $ 129 for my room (2 double beds), and with the taxes I as looking at $ 158. And then I had to pay $ 24 to park my car overnight! They do not have their own private lot! And no free breakfast! Continental breakfast was offered for $ 9.95. Believe me they could have sprung for a muffin or two! Geez…
My room was opposite the elevator, so I heard it ring every once in a while. Not a big deal, but another visitor next door created a racket starting at like 4:30 AM. How rude!
Beds were comfy, room was clean. Kind of a strange furniture setup. Had a floral wingback in a corner, and a black recliner that was butted up against the bed. The chairs didn’t match and they did not make sense for TV viewing with the flat screen housed in a TV armoire across the room. The cabinet that should have housed the fridge and the microwave had a big empty spot since there was no microwave, and the front of the mini fridge was scratched and dented. We pushed the desk chair to the side, and that was beat too. Arms were frayed. Coffee machine in room, but only enough condiments for 1 cup. And only 1 bottle of water left for a 2 – 4 person room. A second one would have been nice because the tap water did not taste good at all. A bottle of water costs about 19 cents. Shower was nice and hot but no water pressure and the tub dripped all night. Bathroom setup was junkyard. Open, rough hewn plywood shelves very roughly painted, and a old curtain covering an ironing board. Weird! There was magic marker on the sheets on one of the beds. All in all, too much money for what we received.

We stayed here over Labor Day Weekend. We loved our stay and would definitely book here again. All of the staff were great, and dog friendly! Staff even greeted my dog. We did the rooftop «tour» and the guide was very informative, pointed out historical sites and gave us dinner recommendations. No problems bringing the dog at all! Room was big, cutely decorated, and had large windows. The hotel is centrally located and is walking distance to shops, restaurants, and the waterfront.

Stayed there for art scape weekend. 5 min drive to any where in downtown area. Love that it sits in fells point district next to all the fun spots. Was able to party at local bars and fall right in to our wonderful room with a view at the Admril Fell Inn. No cab needed.
Very clean and extremely friendly staff was very helpful in making our stay even better.
Mario was great. Will defiantly be back.

I booked this room through groupon for $ 99 a king bed, reservation was a breeze you are able to upgrade for an additonal fee. When we arrived at the hotel I was greeted by Emily at the front desk who was extremly nice, upgrading at the desk was breeze, the room was clean, balcony very enjoyable especially with the nice weather on that day, hotel staff attended to every need in a timely matter. Paking Valet is $ 30.00 a day, their are nearby parking garages with paking $ 23.00 a day after 5pm $ 9.00

The staff at the greeting desk are very nice. The room was clean no problems there. Bed was king size and comfy. The room was small and good for 1 or 2 people only. The room was a little musty, bring some febreze. The air conditioner worked perfectly. We had rm 233, was great, especcially, if can sleep through loud noise. I was up like a zombie. But we were there for the 4^th, I don’t know if it’s noisy in that area all the time. If you’re a drunk, this place is excellent for you. Bars were north, south, East and west. The hotel and the whole fell’s area is dog friendly. All in all the hotel was cool and the room was clean, it is located in a great spot for bar lovers. We ate and drank on the haborside, we took the water taxi $ 14 for the whole day. We didn’t go to their bar or $ 15 buffet in the basement. They had a greeting card in the room with a complimentary bottle of wine, lol the greeting card had the wrong name on it, but thanks for the free wine!

The staff is courteous, knowledgeable, and they care. We are lifelong fans of this establishment, and Mario is the man!

We just had our wedding at the Admiral Fell on May 30, 2015. All I can say is that the entire event was such a massive success and all employees/​staff of this hotel did a fantastic job. Mario, the General Manager is without quest, the best in the business. Not only did he treat us with the utmost respect, but did the same with every guest at that hotel. Any request was met without confrontation, any question was answered immediately, and any concern was addressed instantly.
He also has a staff member, Donna, who was equally amazing. Every time we turned around, she had a drink ready for us, was there to lend a helping hand however she saw fit, and was just an absolute gem. She was there to help my wife with her dress and walking to and from the pier (where the ceremony took place,) to the cake cutting, drink preparation, and literally anything in between.
If I could have given this place more than 5 stars, it would have gotten them. Highly recommend, and hats off to Mario, Donna, and the rest of the Admiral Fell staff. Cheers for making our big day a day that we will never forget.

We had a wedding at the Admiral Fell Inn and everything was very good. The Hotel GM, Mario, was amazing. He did everything possible to make things happen – from overseeing the rehearsal at the Bond Street Pier and the reception at the inn, to making drinks and helping to deliver dinners along with his staff. He is one of the best and ‘hands on’ GMs I have come across. The wedding venue is perfect for 120 people or less, with a nice balcony and harbor views for pre-​dinner cocktails. The Bridal Suite is charming. Thank you, Mario and your professional staff, for making the day so special. I would definitely recommend the inn for a wedding.

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. The location is perfect for a weekend getaway in Fells Point. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean. And the price was reasonable. But the rooms leave a bit to be desired. Bathrooms could use an upgrade. The unique beds in each room certainly weren’t traditional. Our room had beds that were nearly bunk height. I had to ask for towels each day bc we only got one in the room. I’d stay here again especially because of the location, but I’d balance expectations.

So I was a little nervous when I realized how old this hotel is. I like when my expectations are exceeded. Hotel staff is great. Location is great. My room was huge. The bed was an older king sized bed, but was comfortable. If you wanted to nit pick details you could. I understand the theme of the hotel and accepted things not to be 100%. There was free WiFi, free coffee in the lobby, and the décor was awesome. Being in Fed hill everything is right there. We plan on staying again maybe in the spring so we can check out the rest of the area. Overall, I was satisfied with everything.

Walk inn to Tavern and a wave of 6hr old fish flaps into your nose. Pinch it off and waltz up to the abnormally well-​lit bar that’s decorated like it’s still Christmas 1978. Asked the bartender for the cocktail list and.
«Eh, what do you want?»
A diamondback.
«What’s that?»
Uh. rye, chartreuse.
«I don’t have chartreuse.»
Ok, how about a brown derby?
«What’s that?»
Uh. It has grapefruit. One moment.
«I have grapefruit»
I fumble for my phone, already planning my exit as I look up a brown derby recipe for him. My eyes float past
as it loads and down to the chartreuse green rugs. Why don’t they have the liquor?
Fuck this. «Hey man, gonna go somewhere else instead» and I walked out.
Tavern recommendations came from a few local bartenders, so my visit must’ve been a wrong-​time thing. I’ll be back on a non-​Thursday night.

I have been on two separate occasions, as a plus one to a friend’s work party. I liked it. The rooms are cute — large bed, comfy pillows although I only got ready in the room, didn’t stay the night — each room has a famous name attached to the door, the «Poe» room for example. Nice size rooms. Clean. Very nice overall.
Haven’t gone down to the tavern, so I cannot speak on that, but I know its expensive and quite frankly I’m not sure why… maybe just because its Fells?
I have gone up to the 5^th floor, where parties and gatherings are held and it was nice up there. Nice view of the water. Open bar was nice, but I’m sure not always the case, and i hear it can be expensive, around $ 150 per plate when there are banquets, but not completely sure about that. Bartenders and staff were great, food was ok… nothing to write home about in my opinion. Although they did have these wonderful crab puffs that I adored… about 5 times over. Delicious!

This review is strictly for the hotel bar, the Tavern at the Admiral… since they don’t have their own Unilocal page I need to get this off my chest here.
Nowhere in the entire city of Baltimore is it ok to charge anyone, locals or tourists, $ 7 for a bottle of Natty Boh… I could have gone to literally ANY other bar in the city and got a Boh for $ 2… $ 3 max! This is the cheap «local» beer that is known for being CHEAP and this place is taking advantage of tourists not knowing any better (and locals like me who never thought this was possible).
So… TOURISTS BEWARE! Try a Boh elsewhere… maybe avoid this bar all together, I can’t imagine how much a GOOD local craft brew is priced here…
Also, the only reason I ordered a Boh is because I did’t want to spend $ 10 on a cocktail… if I only knew then what I know now. And the bartender was not friendly or understanding about it either, we confronted him about it because we thought there had been a mistake… but no no, that was the price! Very unfortunate. I felt robbed, I will not be back.

It’s too bad you have to give a star to write a review because this hotel does not deserve a star at all. Actually, that’s not true, the only reason they deserve a star is that they cater to patients and families that are receiving care at Johns Hopkins which is admirable. The stay started with a hotel room that was painted so pink it looked like pepto bismal. We also only had two hangers as well as only two open plugs for 5 electronic devices. After the first day we came back to find that our towels had been exchanged but they were exchanged for dirty towels, gross! Thankfully housekeeping quickly brought us new towels. As I was placing the towels on the towel rack I looked up and realized there was hair all over two walls in the bathroom above eye level. There is also mold in the bathroom tiles.
The hotel staff are nice enough but come the third day of our stay in the middle of what felt like a monsoon, we had to call for a shuttle to pick us up from Johns Hopkins 6 times and had to wait 1 hour and 20 minutes to be picked up. Every time we called they said 10 more min. It wasn’t until the 6^th time when we were completely fed up that the lady at the front desk said we could take a cab and they would reimburse us, would have been nice to know earlier!
We are here with a group from work and there are three rooms of us. Each one of us has had to deal with the incredibly loud outside noise, whether it’s people cl screaming and fighting on the streets after the bars let out or the loud talking that you can hear from the halls. One of the nights two men knocked on our co-​workers door, if that doesn’t make you feel unsafe, I don’t know what would. Two of their rooms had holes for what looked like a fridge but there was no fridge, not sure if it was stolen or in the shop for repair!
I was here on business and I travel a decent amount for work and pleasure and I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

This place is great. Especially the bar — Steve and christian took great care of us. Amazong drinks and awesome service. This is my second time staying at the AFI. The only downfall was that I could not watch the ball game when Baltimore was doing so well!

What a shame… had high expectations for this old historic hotel however keys have not worked since we’ve gotten here staff is friendly but light. We only had a two night stay and there is really nothing to boast about I would’ve much rather stayed at the Pier 5 or anywhere else.

I — and the rest of my party — came away pretty disappointed with the Admiral Fell Inn. Here’s what we experienced:
* Parking is a nightmare. While that was obviously not the fault of the hotel, it was incredibly frustrating not to have an easy to see spot to pull up to use the valet parking. The person who looks like they’re the valet parking for the hotel ended up being one for the restaurant next door. In order to get the valet for the hotel, you had to park and then go inside — which is highly problematic if there are no spots in front of it. Having someone outside the hotel would have made it much less stressful.
* With seven of us coming into Baltimore for a bachelorette party, the maid of honor had booked two rooms with two beds in each so we could easily accommodate everyone. When we got to the rooms, we were shocked to find that both of them had one bed each — how on earth were we supposed to sleep all of us? We immediately trekked back downstairs and the concierge realized that the person who took the reservations over the phone made a huge mistake. With the hotel completely booked, he offered to have us potentially move to a sister hotel — that was out of the question as we had an hour to get ready for dinner reservations.
We asked about cots and he agreed to give us two cots, one for each room, and when we asked if it would be free of charge — considering it was the hotel’s fault we needed them — he immediately said yes.
Fast forward to the next morning at check-​out. Not only was there vast confusion with the concierge about cards to charge for the valet parking (more on that in a bit), it turned out they were trying to charge us for the cots! Upon seeing this, we immediately had an issue with it and it took at least 20 minutes before they finally relented. It was outrageous — they were trying to say that they had «upgraded» us to the rooms with the larger, one bed; without, of course, our permission. They finally, grudgingly, credited us for the cots.
* Housekeeping was knocking on all the doors at 9 a.m. sharp — we had the do not disturb sign up.
* Regarding the valet parking: we had three cars parked through the valet parking. On Saturday, as we checked in, we had given several different credit cards (we didn’t want the cars to all go to the person who made the reservation) and were told it was no issue. It took the guy behind the counter nearly 20 minutes of explaining and going back and forth that, no, it was NOT going to be charged to the card on file; that we had given the guy the previous day instructions and cards; and yes, this needed to be done correctly so as not to force one person to pay over $ 80 in parking fees.
* The walls are apparently made out of rice paper — I could plainly hear things coming from the rooms around, below and above us.
The hotel itself is pretty nice. You can’t beat how walkable it is to all the bars, restaurants and the rest of Fells Point and the bar staff downstairs was fantastic but, honestly, there’s got to be better hotels in the area. It’s not worth the parking stress or the inability of the staff to get it together. It was the one sour note to an amazing weekend.

Fell’s Point is like Bourbon Street all grown up and clean! And the Admiral Fell Inn is the place where the grown ups stay in that Harbor area.
If you must stay where the tourists are packed in and kids run crazy please stay over on the other side of the Harbor. If you want a quaint, boutique hotel with fantastic service and the best crab cakes & most interesting bars within walking distance, stay here.
Our airline got our luggage on the wrong flight and the car service at the airport was late and we were ready to just get checked in and figure out how to salvage our vacation if we never saw our luggage again. When we told Hakeem at the desk of our adventures so far he put us in what everyone tells us is the coolest room in the place — room 487. Ask for it if you can. You have windows on 3 sides, LOTS of room to relax and privacy since the room is on the end of the hall. We liked the place from there on out.
If you think the rooms are gonna be small because it’s an old hotel, they are not. Katherine has the largest suitcase in the history of suitcases and we have had to walk over it at some other historical hotels on our travels. We had plenty of room for her to open it up on the floor here.
They made reservations for us at local restaurants, got car and shuttle services to them and other places the water taxi didn’t go and stored our luggage after a noon check out so we could continue to enjoy the area. No one on the staff was less than fantastic!
The water taxi is directly across the street and will take you to about anywhere in the Harbor.
Don’t bother with the free ghost tour of the hotel unless you just want the free drink afterward. There’s not much information and few ghost stories involved in it really. You just kinda walk around the hotel.
Yes it’s even close enough to enjoy Camden Yards or the Ravens’ games if you don’t mind a short cab ride.
Why 4 and not 5 stars?
I asked twice for regular coffee for the in room coffee maker and was told they were out. In 5 days they couldn’t get regular coffee for the rooms? Really? They do have coffee and muffins in the lobby in the mornings. But if you just want to roll out and stay in your jammies and have a cup… well, you’d be out of luck unless you drink decaf.
While we were in Baltimore the weather changed from 90 degrees to 50 (even chillier at night). We walked into a very cold room the afternoon the front came through. We were told they were having the heat «changed over» from AC and it would be fixed in a while. So we went to eat and have a few beers. A few beers and Monday Nigh Football later we came back to a colder room. They did move us to another room — the honeymoon suite — with a gas fireplace. But it took forever to get that to a temp where we could sleep comfortably. A local woman we ran into told us the Inn has a reputation of not having decent heat.
Look, I know those are picky things but heat in a hotel is kinda important and regular coffee doesn’t seem like a special order.
