Relatively clean for a Baltimore«corner store»(which is fast disappearing in the city thanks to tightened restrictions on liquor and food sales) and gets the job done when we need milk, bread or eggs — basic staples, no more and no less. You’re not going to find a lot of variety here, but that’s par for the course in a corner store(you’ll also find higher prices, too, but it’s how they roll and always has been). Standard plexiglass window covering the register and the cashier — it doesn’t necessarily mean that the store is unsafe(because it generally is okay, I’ve never had trouble), but they’re mindful of what can happen in a place like this. If you need milk, cereal, malt liquor, a candy bar, pickled onions, Band-Aids, a scratch-off lottery ticket or a pack of cigarettes, this corner store will be of use to you, and it’s safer than any other similar establishment I’ve been in. It’s not a place you want to hang out, and won’t be a place to make a special trip to — but if you live in the area, it’s invaluable. Not bad.

To give a corner grocer 3 stars means a lot. Most places like this don’t care about their store front, keeping the store clean, and they price gouge you. A1 has a good selection on the beer, wine, an spirits end. Clean storefront, overall safe feeling environment. Staff is friendly, and they have the type of grocery items you would really want at a place like this. Really no reason to go further out for Boh, or a bottle of wine.
